  1. I didn't read the full thread but I did close my credit card account because of this!!
  2. Taken from the Finacial Aid Fact Sheet: Who receives financial aid at Harvard? Two-thirds of all undergraduates receive some form of financial assistance, including outside awards. Half receive need-based Harvard Scholarship aid, totaling over $81 million. One fifth of the families receiving need-based scholarship assistance from Harvard have incomes above $130,000. Based on our new aid policy initiated in 2004, parents with total incomes below $40,000 are expected to pay nothing , and those with incomes between $40,000-$60,000 have reduced contributions. Foreign students have the same access to financial aid funding as U.S. citizens, including the new policy outlined above. 35% take out student loans and 55% work on campus during the academic year, with several hundred other students working off-campus or with Harvard Student Agencies. Median educational debt for members of the graduating Class of 2005 was $6,400.
  3. Harvard University announced over the weekend that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only 10 percent of the students in Elite higher education come from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution." If you know of a family earning less than $40,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free...no tuition and no student loans! To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $40,000 a year visit Harvard's financial aid website at: http://fao.fas.harvard.edu/ or call the school's financial aid office at (617) 495-1581.
  4. You may also try Wal-Mart. I was thrilled this past November to find that my local Wal-Mart had Thomas party supplies and were less expensive than anywhere else I had looked, including Paper Factory!! What I didn't find in Thomas, I used red and blue solids to coordinate. I know that not all Wallies have Thomas but it's worth checking.
  5. The Wal-Marts in East TN were disappointing. We never buy candy at full price, I wait until a clearance sale or I don't need it. However there was nothing but boxed candy at two of the local Wal-Marts and of course stuffed animals. I refuse any more stuffed animals in the house!!! Opps! I stopped at Wal-Greens for my chocolate!!!
  6. I would highly recommend the Talking Words Factory, Talking Letter Factory, and Word Caper II by LeapFrog. My daughter is learning to read at 4 using these DVD's and most of the leapfrog educational toys. Also have you thought about contacting the company directly? They are a great company and very helpful. I will keep my eyes out, last year I got the Princess Laptops (LeapFrog) from CC for free after rebates. Our local library keeps all of the mentioned DVD's on the shelf, you might encourage the children to check out the library too!
  7. Oh My! Thanks!! I had mentioned this to my husband that we might use it but I had not actually printed it and I never looked back at the thread... I would be totally embarrassed, especially since it's a small local Pizza Hut!
  8. Don't forget to join the monthly contest while you are there...
  9. I have the one from BRU. My son is two and he still claims the rocker for himself. We both love it and the ottoman is a must. I half slept/half awake feeding baby in that rocker many nights!!!
  10. You can also join their B-Day Club for $5 off of $25.00 for each child!!!
  11. I haven't seen that. It will normally be posted on the General Announcements board if you don't get the emails. You may ask your friend to re-check that. I'd love to know if I'm missing something!!!
  12. Sign up for Ebays notifications. They normally send out an email in the first hour of the sale and it only lasts 24 hours. The best thing to do is have it all pre-loaded into Turbo Lister or whatever auction loader you use and then load it the day of the sale. I hope it is soon!!! I'm not aware of any kind of schedule, someone else may...
  13. GottaGottaGotta get to the store!!! Its an hours drive from home but the store is always cheaper, just not the same selections as on the website!!! I'm going next week!!!!
  14. I went in one of our local TN stores today, it is what they call a test store, they did not have the signs posted 5 for $10. I asked a saleslady about the sale and she asked if I had gotten the email, when I told her I had she said they would honor the sale. So if by chance your store is a "test store" ask and they should honor the sale price.
  15. Vinegar works for onion smells too! I purchase white vinegar by the gallon, use it in the kitchen, for mopping, in the laundry, cleaning the bathrooms... There is no end to the use of white vinegar.
  16. Thanks So Much!! I'll use these tomorrow!!!
  17. Thanks So Much!!! I will be on my computer Sunday morning Christmas shopping!!!
  18. I don't know if you are anywhere near a Belk store but I was in Proffitts earlier today (Belk bought Proffitts out this year). I noticed that they have a set very similar to this for $149.00. That way you could actually check out the set before purchasing.
