  4. Dear Wal-Mart Execs, We just want to let you know that the Gottadeal community is not impressed with your ad. With all of the "uproar" about your record-breaking projections for the holiday spending season, we feel that you have let us down. Why would you work us up like that, and then hand out these crappy deals? You have been punked by both Best Buy and Circuit City so far, and we predict that Target is going to blow you out of the water. What happened to your famous "Roll-Back" prices? and your amazing deals on big ticket items, like TV's and DVD players? We must say, we are SORELY disappointed. So WALMART, go in the corner and hide your little happy face in shame. "Merry Christmas" isn't going to save you now. Sincerely, The Gottadeal Community:squint:

  9. http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/09/news/companies/walmart_christmas/index.htm?postversion=2006110909 Wal-Mart: We're not afraid to say Merry Christmas No. 1 retailer has decided to abandon its generic 'Happy Holidays' greeting in favor of 'Merry Christmas.' November 9 2006: 9:46 AM EST NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Wal-Mart has told its employees that it's OK to once again greet shoppers by saying "Merry Christmas" this holiday season instead of the generic "Happy Holidays." CNN confirmed that Wal-Mart will announce Thursday that it plans to use the phrase "Merry Christmas" in products and around its stores this holiday season. The announcement comes a year after religious groups such as The American Family Association and The Catholic League boycotted retailers including Wal-Mart last holiday season for excluding the word "Christmas" from products sold in stores. "We, quite frankly, have learned a lesson from last year," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Linda Blakley told USA Today in a separate report. "We're not afraid to use the term 'Merry Christmas.' We'll use it early, and we'll use it often." Besides resurrecting its Christmas pitch, the retailer is also determined to be the leader in this year's holiday price wars. The November-December holiday shopping period is a critical time for merchants since it can account for as much as 50 percent of their profits and sales. To that end, Wal-Mart was the first out of the gate to chop prices on toys and electronics much ahead of its competitors like Target (Charts), Toys 'R Us, Costco (Charts) and others. To support its Christmas deals, the report said Wal-Mart will launch TV ads next week that trumpet "Christmas." It's changing the name of its seasonal decorations department to "The Christmas Shop" from "The Holiday Shop." Moreover, Wal-Mart stores will play Christmas carols throughout the holiday period and about 60 percent more merchandise will be labeled as "Christmas" rather than "holiday" items, the paper said. ----------------------------------------- Moderator Note: Everyone, Please keep this thread on topic and do not use it as a religious platform. 11. Thank you sweetheart! You made my day (no pun intended, teehee)http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Jobs/met008.gif
  12. How many gifts do you give your kids for Christmas? Where do you draw the line? I'm only asking bc my son is 2 now, and he is starting to realize the whole gift getting thing. My sister goes way overboard I think, giving her kids like 20 gifts each.
  13. Yeah, or wal-Mart is waiting on them. It's like a big game of chicken or something. Who's gonna draw their gun first? Hey, there isn't a cowboy smiley! I tried to find one drawing its gun.
  14. Play games on my cell phone, or read a magazine or book. This year I will probably be at Wal-Mart really early, so I will probably sleep.
  15. I predict that Wal-Mart is going to wait until like Nov. 23 or almost the day before and come out with some CRAZY deals. They are probably waiting to see what everybody else has and then underprice them.
  16. I would call a certified babysitting service to have someone come watch your children. I think taking the kids would make them miserable and leaving them with a young teen-ager would make me a nervous wreck, no matter how mature they were.
  17. Are there any KMarts in Texas? I tried the store locater feature on their website, and it said there weren't any. Theirs deals were bad anyway.
  18. I was thinking about standing in line at Wal-Mart for one of the $398 laptops, and then reselling it before christmas. I would charge my BF goodies on AMEX and then use points to get more giftcards. THEN I would use the $ from the laptop to pay off the cc. Maybe I should have saved more $ before now......
  19. Thank you so much! I am looking to order the XPS M140 Notebook.
  20. I am about to buy a new computer from Dell, and I vaguely remember there being a Dell coupon in the back of the Entertainment Book. I didn't buy one this year, so I don't know! Anybody, please help.............. If there is a coupon, what are the stipulations for using it? Thanks to anyone who can help!
