  1. You're quite welcome! It really expands your horizons in terms of going down random roads that just "look interesting" and knowing that you'll definitely find your way home again.

And also to be able to find interesting twisties on a Mapquest and go find them on the bike.

The days of using a printout in your tank bag's map pouch are over (which is a great thing if you are like me and sometimes miss a turn -- printed directions don't "recalculate").

LOL..yea really! Oh I am anxious to get one now but will wait closer to summer. We don't ride much in the cold.I am whimpy that way :)

    Thanks again.

  2. I also ride a motorcycle...

There are just a few GPS units specifically designed for riding:

    TomTom Rider2

any of the units in the Gamin Zumo series

The above are waterproof and specifically designed for the bumps of travel, and to be used with gloved hands... However, I can't recommend the Rider2 based on the horrid reviews I've read and the Garmin units are $450 - $600+. Some of the more expensive Zumos can broadcast their audio cues (and music) to a bluetooth signal and there are a growing number of helmets with built-in bluetooth speakers.

I myself bought a Garmin Nuvi 780. I have the audio cues (and music) going to an FM signal and I tune in that "station" on my Sansa Clip. Keep one earbud in one ear and the other free to listen for traffic. My GPS was $199.99 when I bought it.

However there are trade-offs for me. My unit is not waterproof. My unit does not allow for mapping specific routes (not easily anyway). As a motorcyclist, you don't want to go the fastest way, you want to go the best way, with the most twisties... A true motorcycle GPS will allow you to do that easily. I have to accomplish that through artificially placing waypoints on my mapping on Mapquest.com and then sync up the directions to my Nuvi.

The price has dropped to $178: http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-780-Widescreen-Bluetooth-Navigator/dp/B0011UEUNG

Another possibility is the Garmin Nuvi 550. It is waterproof. It does allow you to map specific routes natively, like the Zumo series. However, there is no FM or bluetooth broadcast. And I can basically guarantee that your DH will not be able to hear the speaker over the engine noise. That means that he'll have to look at the display for every cue, every turn... It's doable, but not ideal. It's also not a widescreen like my Nuvi 780. It is $199.99 from Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-550-3-5-Inch-Portable-Navigator/dp/B001CT009O

No matter what GPS you end up with, you'll have to buy a RAM mount to mount it on the handlebars... There is a ton of different options there:

http://www.gpscity.com/rammounts (use the code of RAMGUF5285 to save 10% --or-- AFeB9MP9 to save $20 if you use PayPal)

They make RAM mounts for just about every GPS out there...

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best.

Wow,thanks so much for your informative post.I was thinking about getting us a gps for our bike, too.

  3. Hi Jenn!, I would recommend the 1st choice because it will do everything your son needs it to do, plus it has a better Graphics igp incase he ever whats to play some games at low settings. Thank you so very much :)

I went and compared processors and talked to my brother about it.he said if he wants it for recording music to go with a desk top.My brother records alot of music on both a laptop and desktop and he said that desk tops are so much better to record with.

    Shew..LOL....

So I guess I will get in line for the 499 desktop at Office Depot.

    Thanks again,

    Jenn

  5. If you've read my other post, then you know I am the Champion on getting CANCELLED. I'm up to five times this week. Three times from ToysRus, once from Best Buy(but I did get my $100 email;)), and NEX/Aafes.com(they had an HP for $449 + $100 for a low $349, this one just got cancelled a few hours ago. No email:no:, I was just checking the status online). A little while ago, Best Buy put up the HP - Pavilion Laptop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5800 Model: dv4-1114nr for $499. It was sold out for a long time, but I've been watching for it. Even called in trying to get it last night. Ordered it online today and used my $100 email and made it a sweet $399 :eyepoppin with in-store pick-up. Great price with those specs. Similar laptops with those specs are $700+. I GOTTADEAL!:cheesy: I gottago and pick it up...it's ready:yup:.

Oh my gosh,I am SO happy for you!!!!

  7. Hi,I have the worst headache! I have been on the internet all morning trying to find the best deal on a PS3 for my 15 yo step son.My son told me he wanted Halo 5 (I think that's right).I read through this thread,I am sorry if I missed something.

I am to the point right now that I am just going to go to wal mart and buy the 80 gig console and the game seperately.

    Thanks for ANY suggestions!

  8. I submitted one online for a TV I bought the weekend after T-Giving and mine was denied.I am just a little mad about it,too.I am going back to that very store in the morning and I will talk to the salesperson about it.The 10% rebate was one of his sales pitches he used on me!

  9. Hi,

I am not very knowledgable about KVZ but I do watch alot of QVC :yup:

She is on there alot, seems like I read that there will be a KVZ todays special value here pretty soon.Go to qvc.com and do a search, you'll find a bunch of her purses.

I just got the cutest little purse for my son's ex-g/f for Christmas(they just broke up but I love her).It was a little over $40 w/shipping and taxes.

    Good luck!

    Jenn

  10. I went to sears first this morning because dh wanted some tools,so we didn't get to WM until about 6:30.I was shocked to see about 8 of the 598 desktops left.

I caved! I got it,tax and all for 570 because my nephew lets me use his discount.

It looked like a decent deal but now I am looking on here and second guessing myself.

I had absolutley NO intentions of getting a computer/laptop!If so,I would've researched the heck out of it,I would've went for the 388 laptops and been there at 2 am.

So what do you all think of this pc?

I made sure I could sell off my current Dell (it's about 3 years old) for 200 bucks before I bought it.

    Thanks,

    Jenn

    ETA:

I wasn't *shocked* to see they had some more, more like suprised!

And also,if I decide to take to take it back, the person that said she would buy my other pc won't get mad.I haven't even taken it out of the box yet. Thanks again!
