UPDATE - I just got a welcome message from CompUSA. go figure!

Me too!!!! Same error message, and same welcome message too!!!That's just nuts.

  2. Last year, I was in Orlando for BF. I tried to go to Best Buy at 8:30 PM, and there was already a line, enough for me not to get the laptops. So I went to Walmart, and since it's a 24-hr store, there was no line, I was able to start one, and I was the first to get the computers. So well.... if you want to get anything at Best Buy, I'd say get there at 8PM.
  3. I'm looking forward to see the COMPUSA ad... I won't be able to be there on BF, and my aunt will go with her friend. But we need 3 laptops... So maybe if COMPUSA opens at midnight and if they have a laptop for a similar price, my aunt can leave her friend in line at BB, go to CUSA, get the laptop and go back to BB before 4 AM. Or maybe she can get it on Wednesday, if they have a good deal ($399 or something). Do you guys think that would work?
  4. I can not believe I have never seen that one. I like it!

It was very popular here in Brazil. They even had the trucks going around the city (Rio de Janeiro), with the lights and music and all, to promote Coke during the Christmas season. I was working once and I heard the music, and rushed to the window to see the trucks! It was just awesome. They also had some buses wrapped in red with Coke and Santa, and the lights. That was like.... 5 years ago.

  5. one thing i really love is putting chunks of potatoes on the bottom of the turkey pan an hour before it's done. as they cook they soak up the turkey juices and come out soooooo good everyone loves them. i've also done this with roasted chickens and thier just as good. just got to remember to have enough water on the bottom of the pan.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... these potatoes sound delicious...................................:gdlicklips:

  6. Tati, I'm on a slow 56K dial-up connection, so I don't do youtube. Can you describe the commercial and what poduct it is for please?

Oh, I'm sorry, Pam..... It was kinda stupid of me... Well, it's a Coke commercial, there's a huge line of trucks going through the cities, and the lights turn on when the trucks pass. It's just soooooooooo beautiful....

  7. Are the kids going back to school already? Sorry, whenever I hear those words I think of the Target commercials. :P

That's funny!! Kids go back to school here in March, which is the end of summer. Is October/November the beginning of the school year there, or just a return from the summer vacations?

And oh..... I just LOVE the holiday season!!!! Just can't wait to arrive there in the US, to enjoy the Christmas chill, light displays, and all. But I'm already listening to Xmas music on my MP3 player (if I play it out loud, my family is gonna send me to a nut house!!)

  8. Shredded potatoes. They're usually mounded into hot oil and pan fried until browned and crispy of each side. It's most often a breakfast side dish, but is very similar to potato pancakes without the binder.

Oh, yeah.... I had hashbrowns the last time I went to the USA... now I remember.... at Burger King, for breakfast.

  9. Hi, everyone!

I'm having some trouble in choosing a doll for my 3-year-old daughter.... In the other thread I started, I was suggested Baby Born, and Baby Annabell. My daughter saw the two commercials online and just loved Annabell because she moves her face when she sucks the bottle and pacifier. I emailed zapf about it. But well, I've just received their reply: they aren't making Annabell anymore!!! So, I guess by the time I get to the USA, it's gonna be sold out. Couldn't find it online either.

Well, my question is: is there any other doll that moves her face when she sucks the bottle???? My daughter has already asked Santa for that...

  10. yes we have the family over to our house for Thanksgiving and then we draw names that night for the gift exchange.

    We have...........

    turkey

    ham

    mashed taters

    stuffing

    hashbrown cassarole

    greenbeen cassarole

    rolls

    veggie tray

    and lots of desserts.

Sorry for the stupid foreigner questions, but... What kind of ham is that? Not the regular one, we put in the sandwich, right? And... what's "hashbrown"?

  11. I am the one the lights up the street and drives around and looks at everyone else's house...:D

The Hide the Santa sounds so fun.....I wish we hide neighbors like yours....we live by a bunch of Scrooges.....:(

You know what's funny? People down here say American people are cold and snobbish. (which I TOTALLY DISAGREE) But if you listen to Christmas songs here, or cover your house with lights, they say you're childish and ridiculous. They are a bunch of Scrooges... and they don't even know who Scrooge is.

  12. None are that huge in our neighborhood here, but when we lived in FLorida we had a holiday tradition of driving through Sonic and picking up milkshakes and then driving around looking at lights. When you live where it's so warm you have to get a bit creative with your holiday traditions! ;)

Oh, yeah. I do my best to get into the holiday chill down here. They tried to come up with a Brazilian tropical version of Santa, but it didn't work. Kids didn't believe him! hahahaha So, those poor guys who work as Santa at the malls have to melt inside those suits, and sometimes (poor guys) under a 40ºC sun.

And nope... no lights down here, only at some shopping malls. But nobody puts up lights all over their houses, only the ones who have balconies, and it's just a little light trim around it. I gotta move to the US!:rwb:

  13. There's a Christmas Cake recipe that my grandmother learned with her mom. My mom never wanted to learn it, so grandma taught me. Grandma died a couple of years ago, so now I'm the only one in the family that knows how to make it. It's pretty easy, but I've got the official Christmas Cake Maker position!!!!
