  1. Here in Brazil there's something called "Panetone", which is like cake, but the texture is like breasd, and there are those weird fruits inside, plus nuts and raisins. Everyone here loves it. But well, I don't like fruits or raisins. Some years ago they created a different version of it, with chocolate chips. I just love it!!!! Is it similar to fruitcake?

    There's the link:

    http://www.bauducco.com.br/ingles/bauducco.html

The chocolate chip one is called Chcottone.

  2. Brazil?? Are you sure you don't want to spend $1000 on airfare to save $300 on a laptop?

BTW, I hope the friend is a really good one. He's going to have to spend hours in line for you to get that laptop. :D

LOL I won't travel only for that.. I'll go to Disneyworld, and visit my friend as well. And well.... the airfare (I paid 700) plus the 399 laptop is the same price as buying the cheapest laptop here. So... I get both the trip and the laptop!:D And yeah, my friend is a very good one. She said staples is not that crowded in her city...

  3. yeah thats it, if you want you can add a extra butter to the juice when you put the potatoes in just to give a little extra flavor. let me know if you try it and how it comes out, we love it here. shame you can't get the adobo it's great to use. i'm not much on using spices so it's a blessing to me. lol:D

I'll try it next week. I'll be home alone, so nobody will call me nuts by celebrating a holiday that doesn't exist here..... About Adobo.. I'll buy it when I go up there in December, and try it!!:gdlicklips:

  4. Who will be going to Office Depot to buy the $299 laptop? And if so what time will you get there?

I am thinking of asking my friend to go there (I'm not gonna be in the US on BF, you know...), but I still don't know. It all depends on the rebate value. If it's up to $100, it's worth it. I don't do rebates, they don't send them to Brazil.

  5. i just rub butter over the whole thing and then sprinkle adobo on it, for those who don't know adobo is a pre mix of spices you can get in the supermarket usually in the spanish section. the one i use contains salt, garlic, oregano, black pepper, turmeric, (and tricalium phoshate to prevent caking). i like the one with the pepper but there are different ones you can get, i use it on most of my meats, just becareful if you use to much it can be salty. and just baste to keep the bird moist as you normally do.

Well, there's no Adobo here, but I have those spices at home. So, rub butter over it, then sprinkle spices over it, and cook it in the pan...

  6. when you do the potatoes in the turkey (or chicken) pan, i make sure to add extra butter to the pan and after about half an hour i check on them and make sure they're all in the juice and spoon more juice on top of the potatoes to keep them moist (if need be i add water if it's not enough). and test them with a fork to see if they're tender enough. just cook them till they're the way you like them. i usually do an hour sometimes a little longer. i'm getting hungry just thinking about it. :2letseat::hungry:

How exactly do you prepare your chicken/turkey?

  7. Okay, I went to Zapf Creations to look up this Love Me Chou Chou doll and it's not listed on their site so I did a search and found a link to where it should have been and Zapf website says Love Me Chou Chou is no longer available. I know our local walmart, target, and kmart stores do not have any of the chou chou dolls (I looked this past weekend) and I called toys r us today and they don't carry her anymore so I guess that one is out of the choices for me.

That sucks!!!!! My last hope is that the KBtoys list for BF is right, and they have the Love Me Chou Chou for 14,99.

  8. I found rock-a-bye chou chou at our local toys r us this past weekend. I bought it for my 3 yr old daughter. I didn't see the love me chou chou, maybe I'll do some more research and exchange the dolls if love me is better.

I also have a 7 yr old step-daughter who wants the amazing allison doll but I'm not going to get it with all the bad reviews. Would the talking chou chou be a good replacement or is there another doll out there close to it?

Amazing Allison is not a baby doll, right? I don't know if there would be a good replacement for it... What do the reviews say?

  9. I believe the Love Me chou chou doll is the closest to the Annabell doll of last year, both are by Zapf. I'm also in search of a nice interactive baby that doesn't pee or poop.

DD likes the Talking Chou Chou, so I might get that one. She speaks English & Spanish and says phrases, and sucks a bottle.

The Rock-a-Bye is close to the Love me Chou Chou [except it doesn't move legs like the Love me and Annabell]. IT IS available at TRU for $29.95. Either the Love me or the Talking chou chou is going to be $14.99 BF @ KBToys. I can't figure out which one, it says Love me on the list, but the clickable link shows Talking and there is no adscan yet, but that's the one I'm buying. Can't beat $14.99.

    Trish

I really hope it's the Love Me Chou CHou... The talking Chou Chou wouldn't work for DD, as she doesn't understand English or Spanish! That's why I'm not getting Amazing Amanda. But... have you seen The Rock-a-Bye Chou Chou at TRU as well? Or just Love Me? My friend looked for Rock-a-Bye at her local TRU, Walmart and Kmart and they didn't have it......... I hope my aunt finds it, when she gets to Orlando on Saturday. If not, she'll get the 14,99 one.

  10. maybe if we all teamed up, that would be great. for those of you in the orlando area, that map was a map of the Florida Mall Area, in south Orlando, near the OBT and Sand Lake Intersection.

I'll be in front of the best buy at 8PM Thanksgiving night

If my aunt knew how to speak English, I would tell her to meet you. She'll be there really early too. So, if you see a lady that looks like a guy, short white hair, with an attitude... that's my aunt! LOL I hope she can communicate, and get everything we want!

  11. Yes, they usually have the night before holiday sales - usually 6pm to 11, or midnite. Have done well there - they aren't as well-publicized, so at least in my area, the stores aren't as crowded.

That's on Wednesday, right? I really hope they have a nice laptop deal on the night before sales. It's my hope of getting one.

  12. It may be a long night but you'll be warm! I have no experience with BB on BF here in the Orlando area except that I went around 11 last year and was able to get the DVD's that I wanted and was able to price match for some DVD's.

Well, that depends on what you consider warm... I live in Rio de Janeiro, and it's boiling hot here all year long. So I always freeze in Florida. I think I would die if I went to a colder place!
