  1. Just wanted to share this really good site with all. www.organizedchristmas.com It has really great ideas for gifts to make and organizing ideas. One year I got an idea for candy cane bath salts to make, a mini vacation, recipes. I visit it all the time. I recommend it.
  2. I make my own letters to my kids and my nieces and nephews and a couple of friends and make it specific to each child. The kids all love getting them. You can buy computer paper and special christmas envelopes and a Walgreens, office max or pretty much anywhere. It's fun doing them. I also print the envelopes with their name on it and make return address labels from Santa Clause, North Pole. The post office delivers them. I also make up magic reindeer food and put in a snack size baggie and include in the note to the kids to be sure to sprinkle on your lawn on Christmas Eve to help guide the reindeer to their house. It's funny to see the kids sprinkling this on the lawn at 11pm or whatever time we get home from a family function. The reindeer food is oatmeal and glitter. The oats are for the reindeer of course and the glitter glistens in the snow.
  3. The Chipmunk Song Hark the herald Angels Santa Clause is Comin to Town
  4. I don't really have any good hiding spots in my house. I put everything in cardboard boxes in my garage and mark it something like Kitchen stuff and the kids never know. After it's wrapped I put them back. Seems to work out rather well. I have a 10 & 8 year old and they have never found stuff.
  5. I don't have nightmares. But I do stay up really late making sure I have my ads marked and lists made and if and what I might beable to comp. at stores. The first year my sister went with me she couldn't believe how serious I took this and my lists. Then I can't go to sleep because I am worried about waking up late. So I finally fall asleep, and usually wake up later than I wanted, but never really had problems getting what I wanted. I feel for you. :)
  6. I usually plan on getting at the store about an hour before opening, so usually 5am, but usually make it there by 5:30 or 6:00am. I am NOT:tired: a morning person. This year I mentioned to my sister that an outlet mall is opening at 12am, so maybe her and I will do that, then we can just get to the other stores on time for once. I am just curious about all those that go at like 9, 10, 11pm on Thanksgiving, what do you do that whole time until the store opens? I don't know if I could do that, it's cold where I am.
  7. I see most people want to start at Walmart. I went once and it didn't work so well and there is usually a stor of people fighting. I actually try to stay far away from it. Are the other Walmarts like this?
  8. I've been doing this for about 5 years now and kind of enjoy it, but for the most part it seems to me that the stores always have the same type of items on sale. Haven't seen anything yet myself. I keep reading about how Walmart is so great. But I have to say I think every year our Walmart has a fight and last year someone had a heart attack. I went there one and left, because the lines were the longest I had ever seen and decided I didn't really want the item I went there for. I know my shopping needs have changed, and didn't see anything I really had to get last year, but went anyway, because it has become like tradition.
  9. I am pretty new to this website and have truly enjoyed browsing it, so i wanted to share what I do. I do my own and for my nephews and nieces and my friends daughter. In fact my friends daughter has already asked about her letter from Santa. I get special paper with Santa on it and personalize each letter to the children and really emphasize about doing well in school and being kind and nice and helpful to others. Then I make up address labels to each child and then I make up return address labels that just say "Santa Claus, North Pole". I also take it one step further and put magic reindeer food (oatmeal & glitter)in it and explain that they are to sprinkle it on their lawn on Christmas Eve to help guide the reindeer to their house. The children just LOVE it. You can buy glitter at the dollar store sometimes and just by cheap generic oatmeal, then put them in little snack size baggies. It is the best feeling knowing you are making a child sooo happy and that they wait for their letter and magic reindeer food and not to mention helping that child believe another year.[/font]
