  1. I have a programable thermostat. Keep it at 63 from 1130pm-630am (sleeping) and 830am-500pm(working). Keep it at 69 from 630am-830am(waking hours) and 500pm-1130pm(when I am home from work)
  2. Got mine on BF and have had no problems at all. Been very pleased with it
  3. Yup, DVDs look really good. Stand Def through S-video on my Direct TV looks great as well. Some channels are better than others but overall all channels look very good.
  4. Can we buy that at any time or did we have to buy it when we purchased the TV last week?
  5. Some people dont consider $500+ a little more. It's not like you'll have to throw away your EDTV Plasma in the next year or 2. For one, there is no whay all broadcasting in the next 1-2 years will be 100% HD....and 2....EDTVs can accept HD signals, albeit they will reduce them to 480p. So an EDTV still has an acceptable shelf life
  6. Plasmas do have a better viewing angle than DLPs and LCDs
  7. Well, I bought my $997 EDTV Plasma and am going to buy a 56" HD DLP:yup: EDTV will be used in living room by girlfriend and I to watch DVDs and standard def broadcasts on Direct TV HD DLP will be used in home theater in basement to watch HD DVDs (upconverted) HD broadcasts and standard def broadcasts. Personally, I dont feel like spending $800 for 2 Direct TV high def receivers
  8. Thats where EDTV is more beneficial. I have a 42" EDTV Plasma hooked up to my Direct TV. It makes all the channels look better and it is especially great on DVDs where DVDs play at 480p which is the EDTVs native resolution.
  9. DVDs look great on my Wal Mart Plasma due to the fact that EDTV's native resolution is 480p which is what a DVDs resolution is. EDTVs are not bad if you want a great picture for DVDs and regular definition broadcasts. The plasma I got for $997 at Wal Mart is money WELL spent as I got a 42" plasma that blows away my 31", 13 year old Hitachi. Would I have gotten the EDTV Plasma to be a center piece of my High Def home theater? Absolutely not. Would I get an EDTV just to replace an older CRT or if I wanted a better picture with standard def and an awesome picture with regular DVDs...Hell yea
  10. Yea, I am impressed with mine...especially on DVDs!!!
  11. Yuo could order online, however I didnt know if it was going to be in stock by the time I got around to it and I didnt know how much shipping was
  12. Man, that sucks...My WM was a 24 hour one so I was nice and toasty inside:)
  13. Well put. I do not think there is anythong thing wrong with purchasing a 42" Plasma EDTV set for $997 especially if you are like me, just looking for a nice inexpensive TV to upgrade an old 31". The Wal Mart Plasma most definitely looks better than my older Hitachi in standard definition on Direct TV. It blows away my old Hitachi when watching DVDs. For $997, I think it is an awesome deal for what you get.
  14. Yea, it's EDTV...but...this is just to replace my 13 yr old 31" Hitachi for casual viewing. By the way, it accepts 720p and 1080i signals....obviously you wont get the full benefit of both but it accepts them nonetheless I am getting a 56" Sammy DLP for my basement for my home theater:D
  15. I honestly didnt thin I was going to get one. I arrived at WM at 4am and there were about 150 people in this huge line. Luckily that wasnt the line for the plasmas. They have the Plasmas and 15" LCDs in Sporting Goods. I got in line about 4:05 and there were 15 people in front of me. I had called earlier and was told there were only 6 Plasma in. Come to find out they had 12 in!! A couple of people ahead of me didnt get the Plasmas. I got the 10th out of 12. There were like 50 people behind me. Everything was organized and fairly orderly. I hooked up the Plasma to my Direct TV receiver and it looks good. Some of the local stations dont look as good which I dont understand why since Direct TV is all digital. I wasn't expecting anything like a $2500 Panasonic plasma but for $997, its a great TV!!!
  16. Yea, mine is a 24 hour WM... So, If they have 6 Plasmas and I see more than 6 people in line by the pallate...I guess I should go home?
  17. wonder how early I should get there for a Plasma if my store only has 6 of them
  18. do the large items have separate lines?
  19. How does it work with large items like TVs since you really cant just grab one and take it to the register.
  20. I thought the Wal Mart Plasma was not going to be on sale online until 5am on Friday?? It now says to buy online but says it's out of stock. Is it reall out of stock or are they just saying that until 5am this Friday?
  21. How did you find that out? Is there a way to find out what store is going to carry the Plasmas without calling them all?
  22. So, if I just wanted to replace my 31", 12 year old Hitachi, with something just for average TV viewing, the Wal Mart Plasma would not be worth it? All I will have hooked up to it is a Direct TV receiver (non HD). I will be buying a 56" Sammy DLP for my basement in the future :-)
