  1. 1. In your opinion, what store had the best Black Friday ad last year (2008) and why?

I didn't think there was really one fabulous ad for me last year as there was a few items from each ad that I wanted. But Walmart and Kohls usually take priority as a first stop since they price match and if you have the 15% for kohls MVP that is an extra bonus.

    2. What would be your #1 piece of advice to someone totally new to Black Friday?

divide and conquer go with friends. Also, don't forget the jewelry counters at least at kohls anyway. Go in grab a number to be waited on do your shopping and check out the items you want then treat yourself to an inexpensive piece of jewelry so you can pay for your many bargains you find on gottadeal. This system is like having an extra friend to hold your spot in line and saves waiting later.

    3. Besides offering great deals, what else can a store do to get you to shop there on BF?

    coffee and freebies

  3. Brad and Mods Thank you for a job well done. Receiving information well before the big day makes planning for the big event much easier. And Brad again thank you for the shirt, I won one this year, it created quite a buzz while shopping yesterday. Everyone wanted to know where they could get one. I told them "sorry you can't buy them you could only win them from the best deal site around, make sure you check it out you won't be disappointed."
  4. I got this one a few years ago out of the coupon insert of the Sunday paper. They have been a hit with my family and now everyone expects them.

    Santa’s Snickers Surprises

    2 Sticks Butter (softened)

    1 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter

    1 Cup Light Brown Sugar

    1 Cup Sugar

    2 Eggs

    1 Tsp. Vanilla

3 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour (sifted)

    1 Tsp. Baking Soda

    ½ Tsp. Salt

1 Pkg. (13 Oz.) Snickers Miniatures

1 Pkg. (11 Oz.) Dove Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate Gifts

Combine the butter, peanut butter and sugars using a mixer on a medium to low speed until light and fluffy. Slowly add eggs and vanilla until thoroughly combined. Then mix in flour, salt & baking soda. Cover and chill dough for 2-3 hours.

Unwrap all Snickers miniatures. Remove dough from refrigerator. Divide into 1 tablespoon pieces and flatten. Place a Snickers in the center of each piece of dough. Form the dough into a ball around each Snickers miniature. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 10-12 minutes. (Baking time and temp may need to be adjusted if using more than 1 tablespoon of dough per cookie.

Let cookies cool on baking rack or wax paper. Drizzle melted Dove Bars over the top of each cookie. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Yes. These are a hit with my family too. So much in fact that I have cut back on making other kinds to make more of these. If you make these you can't go wrong.

  5. I say if they can afford a personal shopper they probably don't need a great deal. Get their list figure out approximate regular retail and tax before any deals we find here. Tell them the items should cost around $x.xx get the money up fron,t tack on a flat fee for your services. Any savings that you can get would be an extra bonus for yourself you earned it.
  6. Also, I need to ask this question. I saw a post or two about Target coupons. I understand the web ones, but one post I saw said something about coupons out of the paper. I think that our two Targets here are regular ones, with some groceries, more than what they used to have. Do the places with Super Targets or whatever have coupons, like in the Sunday paper or something?

There was a Target coupon for Bounty paper towel in my sunday paper coupons just yesterday. This is the first time I think I have ever seen one.

  7. For my kids, I bought a wooden box at a craft store and painted it for christmas and put 'Santa's Mail Box' on it and my kids put their letters and wish lists in that then we set it outside. When they go to sleep I get the letter and about a week or so later I reply to them from santa. I tell my kids that the post office can't get to the north pole this time of year because of everyone sending presents and cards to loved ones so Santa's elves fly around at night picking up and dropping off letters. This had worked great for our family and saves the postage.

I love this idea. i think I might have to do this since we haven't sent our letters out yet.

  8. My DD age 5 came home from school the other day a said "Mom, I don't think the Santa at the mall is real." I responded by telling her that I wasn't sure because since there are many children Santa can't be everywhere at the same time, so sometimes he has helpers and you never know who it is going to be. So when we were watching the Thanksgiving parade she asked if that was the real one. I told her yes.
  9. Well, if memory serves, don't they do a good toy clearance shortly after Christmas? I know my Target has great deals on toys that I stock away from birthday presents and next years Christmas.

Oh Yes you are absolutely right. I was able to get my DD the leapster lmax last year for $20. It was the target exclusive red one, but does color really matter when you're getting that good of a deal. There were other things I picked up to but that was the best deal.
