  1. I could be wrong, but I think she's talking about the 3-digit security code rather than the actual card number. Most sites ask for that code to prove that you physically have the card and haven't just stolen the card number. If that's the case and it went through without the correct number, it makes the code completely worthless. Scary thought.
  2. I had some major problems with a Kohls.com order and also got nowhere with CS, so I also contacted corporate. Rather than calling though, I sent a group email to every bigwig that I could find an email address for. I did get a reply, and I ended up dealing with the person below who really bent over backwards to make me happy. Although we only emailed and I never tried the phone number, she did say that it is her direct number. Good luck! 3. I would never camp out regardless of how good the deals are, but it was definitely worth heading out at 3:00 am. At Kohl's, I saved a bunch on the Kitchenaid mixer, the portable DVD player, a programmable Mr. Coffee and a food dehydrator, plus I got a ton of smaller items at unbelievable prices. I ended up with $85 in Kohl's cash that I went back and spent on myself, and I have $74 in rebates coming back to me. At Sears, my biggest savings was $70 on a table saw, but I also got some other great deals too, including a couple things for myself. But the best part was that I totally finished my Christmas shopping, so I am now ahead of the game for the first time in years!
  4. I haven't filled out any of my rebate slips yet, but I'm a little concerned about the fact that most are Visa gift cards. I think the mixer rebate will be cash, but I know I will have at least $30 on the portable DVD player, $10 on a Mr. Coffee, and $4.00 on the board games which are supposed to be in the form of a Visa gift card. I know that money is money, but if these cards are anything like the one I've been dealing with lately, I will definitely avoid those rebates next year. Someone gave my mother a $100 Visa gift card for Christmas last year, and she couldn't figure out how to use it. When I found out in May that she still hadn't used it, I figured it was her age catching up with her, so I bought it from her, thinking that I would use it at the gas pump. The first time I tried at a Sunoco station and selected debit, but it asked for a pin number which didn't exist, so I put it through again and selected credit and it worked. The next time (at a different station) I selected credit first and it didn't work, so I selected debit and it asked for a pin, so I cancelled it and paid with cash. The same thing happened the third time, so I took the card inside and, after about 15 minutes, the cashier finally managed to put it through as a credit which I had to sign for. That left $31 on the card, but it was such a hassle that I never tried again at a gas station. After trying several times at retail stores and having it declined, I finally went to customer service at Walmart and they said that the cashier has to put the dollar amount in manually and put it through as a credit. So, the next time I was in Walmart, I told the cashier and was hoping to empty the card. Unfortunately, that didn't work because I didn't know the exact balance that was on it. Apparently, they have no way of seeing the balance, and when they put the amount in manually, it will be declined if it is one penny over the balance on the card. So I used another $20 from the card that time, and then went to the website shown on the card and had to register in order to put the card number in and check the balance. Then, the next time I was in Walmart, I told the cashier what customer service had told me about putting the amount in manually and told her the exact balance on the card, hoping to finally get rid of it for good. After about 20 minutes of her trying to put it through over and over, I finally paid cash and left with the $11 still on the card. I think that time it was the cashier's fault because she kept swiping the card rather than manually putting in $11 as a partial payment, but still, if the cashiers don't know how to do it, there is only so much the customer can do. I just recently found out that my niece has been dealing with the exact same problem with a card she got last Christmas so, after hearing that I was having the same problem too, we are now spreading the word to our family and friends that cash is a better gift option, especially for my mother. I bought these items without realizing that the rebates were gift cards so I will keep my fingers crossed that they work better, but if they don't, I will definitely pay more attention to all rebates from now on.
  5. I was there and in the very long line for the 4 a.m. opening, but I (and everyone else in line) was extremely irritated about the huge number of people that sat in their cars until the doors opened and then forced their way in front of those of us that had been standing in line. Personally, I think that ALL stores should put up chains or something to contain the line and at least try to keep that from happening. That said, I was also appalled at the number of people who dragged babies and small children out in the middle of the night just to go shopping. I even heard of one case where a couple went to a midnight madness sale at some mall and left a 3-year-old child in the car. Apparently, someone noticed the child in the car crying at 3:00 am and called the police, and the parents were arrested and the child was turned over to the grandparents. I'm sorry, but no sale is worth treating a child that way.
  6. Try sending an email to this address: [email protected] I had pretty much the same problem with a fairly small online order. First, they split it up into 4 different shipments, even though everything would have fit into the largest box I received. All of the orders came from the same distribution center, two of them were sent within 5 minutes of each other, and all of them were sent with 6 hours of each other. The first 3 packages arrived 3 weeks after I placed the order, and I knew things were screwed up from the shipping confirmation emails I had received. I had received the Kohl's Cash coupons two weeks earlier but didn't use them because I they expired less than a week after they were received and, at that point, I was contemplating sending everything back because it had been so long and I knew even before anything arrived that the orders were wrong. Anyway, once the packages arrived, some of them had packing slips for my stuff but items that someone else had apparently ordered, some had items that were supposed to be items that I ordered but they sent wrong sizes, etc., and some of the items were simply not shipped and then cancelled with no explanation even though the items were still in stock and available. After trying to deal with customer service for a week and getting nowhere, I finally sent a detailed group email to every corporate email address I could find. Someone replied from the address above and was very accommodating. She credited me for everything that I didn't receive and every incorrect item (based solely on my email), told me to donate or dispose of everything that I received that I did not order, credited me another $20 for the two Kohl's Cash coupons that I didn't use because of the mess, and then sent me a $25 gift card for my trouble. She also offered me a 20% discount if I wanted to re-order the stuff I didn't get, but I politely declined and purchased the items in a store. Never again will I ever order anything from them online, but I have to say that, when I finally found the right person, she really went out of her way to make me happy.
  7. I had no problems at all with my order. I placed an order for the BF items that were available for pick-up (table saw, blower/vac and a digital photo keychain) plus another item that wasn't on sale (jack stands -- but I still got a sale price somehow) at about 7:30 pm on Wednesday. I got an email at 12:26 am Thursday saying "we have experienced a delay in processing...." so I was a little concerned, but I figured it didn't make much difference because the order had definitely gone through and I had a confirmation number. Then when I got home Thursday night, I found 4 duplicate emails received at 6:39 and 6:40 pm stating that the order was ready for pick-up. I didn't know about the $10 off coupon when I placed the order, but there were some other things that I wanted to get in the store, so I used it there. Anyway, we got to the store about 2 minutes before they opened (went to Kohl's first LOL), drove around to merchandise pick-up and pulled over just as they were opening the door. I was the only customer there so the car was loaded and I was out of there and into the store by about 5:10. Got the other items I wanted, checked out and drove back to my neck of the woods (which would take 45 minutes in traffic) and got to Cracker Barrel by 6:05 for breakfast. I didn't even bother to look for most of the stuff on my list at Kohl's because it was way too crowded and crazy, but my experience at Sears was great. My husband went to work so I ended up going to another Kohl's about 10:30 am (which was still crowded and crazy) but at least I got everything that I wanted, even though I had to stand in line over an hour to do it. So, all in all, it turned out to be a pretty productive day.
  8. Are the figures below just for the forum or for the site in general? I'm just curious because I've been trying to get to my shopping list for about 20 minutes and it says it's temporarily disabled because of high traffic, but the number of users online at the bottom of the main forum page was only 109 when I last checked.
