  1. We also may be relocating from north AL to North FL. I need something that has one way on it as we will be going 320 miles away. Moving from zip 35016 to 32535. I haven't found anything that has one way to that location other than U=haul. Any help?

I checked Penske, and used the zipcodes you provided. You didn't mention a date, so I just put in June 23 and it came up with:

    Picking up in Boaz, AL

    Dropping off in Pace, FL

    12 or 16 ft truck- $287

    22 or 26 ft truck- $314

Just a note on moving into Florida. When doing my research before my move, I found that with any moving company (self moving- Penske, Uhaul or Budget), it is MUCH cheaper renting a truck and moving into the state of Florida. Double, or at one point it was almost 4x-8x the price to rent a truck and move OUT of Florida. Reason for this is there is such a shortage of these trucks in the state of Florida (because everyone is leaving). They were renting so cheap, just to get the trucks into Florida.

Example: I looked at a a 16ft truck, from West Palm Beach to Charlotte with Penske- $874

I used the exact same dates, in reverse order, from Charlotte to West Palm Beach-- $71 (SEVENTY ONE DOLLARS)! I called and asked what the crap was up with that, and they told me the reason above. They needed to get the trucks into Florida.

  2. I've had nothing but problems with my Dell Laptop. (I think there's an old thread of my venting about it). The internal wireless never worked right from the start. I now use a linksys usb wireless adapter that I have rigged up to it.

Someone from Dell was reading the boards that day, and contacted me wanting to help fix it. Between his schedule and my schedule, I was never free to call him when he was available, and he wasn't available when I was free to call. So it never got fixed.

Unfortunately, I would never recommend Dell to anyone, and I will never buy another one again. (In fact, I'm ready for BF so I can ditch this one. LOL)

  3. Home Depot to close 15 U.S. stores

    By HARRY R. WEBER

    AP Business Writer

ATLANTA --Nearly 7 1/2 months after its chief executive said there were no plans to cut the number of its core retail stores, The Home Depot Inc. announced Thursday that it is shuttering 15 of them amid a slumping U.S. economy and housing market. The move will affect 1,300 employees.

It is the first time the world's largest home improvement store chain has ever closed a flagship store for performance reasons. Its shares rose almost 5 percent.

The Atlanta-based company said the underperforming U.S. stores being closed represent less than 1 percent of its existing stores. They will be shuttered within the next two months.

The stores to be closed consist of three in Wisconsin, two in Ohio, two in New Jersey, two in Indiana and one each in Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, New York and Vermont.

A company spokesman said some of the employees will be relocated, while others could lose their jobs.

Spokesman Ron DeFeo said Home Depot has only closed one of its flagship stores previously because of structural damage. Last year, Home Depot closed its 11 Landscape Supply stores. It also has previously shut a number of its Expo design centers.

The company reiterated Thursday its intention to open 55 new retail stores in the 2009 fiscal year.

On Sept. 21, 2007, Home Depot CEO Frank Blake told The Associated Press that the company had no plans to make any broad-based job cuts or reduce the number of its core retail stores in the face of a persistent housing slump that wasn't expected to improve anytime soon.

Since then, the economy and the housing market woes have grown worse, and Home Depot has announced several rounds of job cuts.

In December, Home Depot said it would cut 950 jobs and close three call centers that handle orders for home installation. The next month, Home Depot said it would cut 500 jobs at its headquarters.

Home Depot has sought over the last year to focus more attention on its core stores. In August 2007, it sold its wholesale distribution business, HD Supply, to a group of private equity firms for $8.5 billion.

Due to the store closings announced Thursday, Home Depot will record a charge of roughly $186 million, including inventory markdowns of $11 million and severance of $8 million. It also will record a charge of roughly $400 million related to development costs and ongoing obligations associated with the future store locations that it is scrapping.

New store capital spending will be reduced by $1 billion over the next three years, Home Depot said.

Excluding charges, the company reiterated that its diluted earnings per share from continuing operations are expected to decline by 19 percent to 24 for fiscal 2008. Home Depot releases its first-quarter results May 20.

Its shares rose $1.38, or 4.8 percent, to $30.18 in morning trading.

Home Depot operates 2,258 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China.

  4. I just got and email from my bank. I had another charge they believe may be fradulent!!!

They are now having my close my account and get a new debit/master card as they are

afraid this may just get worse  I cannot believe this...so basically my direct deposit

check will go into a non existant account tomorrow...Arghhhh.

Should I call the district attorney or somebody at the FCC:confused: If anybody can find

a real name or phone number for Magic Jack, LLP please let me know and I will be "tearing

    them a new one" :gdparanoid:

See if your bank can flag this and redirect it to your new account??

My sister had to do this when she had her taxes done last month. The lady that did her taxes had the wrong checking info to have her taxes direct deposited. (My sister and BIL had to close their acct and reopen another one because of fraudulent charges). She called the bank on the day her taxes were to be deposited, and they rerouted the deposit to her new acct. She has to do the same thing on the day that the stimulas tax rebate is supposed to be deposited too.

One thing my sister said though, was she had to do it ON THE DAY OF THE DEPOSIT, before the bank had a chance to return the deposit because the acct was closed.

Good luck, and thanks. I almost bought one of those MJs.

  5. I didn't wait. I had 5 months left on one account (with 2 phones on it) and just under 2 years left on the other account. I went to alltel and ported all three numbers over then called sprint and told them I wouldn't be paying the termination fees and why. The guy noted it on the account and said they're having a lot of people calling and doing the same.

Unfortunately they can note it all they want. I wouldn't be 100% convinced that those early termination fees will just disappear. I don't have that much faith in Sprint to just forgive those fees.

I've been fighting with them for months over errors they continously make on my bill every month. I'm not going to take the chance of them charging me $400 in ETFs (I have 2 phones- $200 per line) and I'll just wait it out until Sept 26th and tell them exactly what they can do with their service (or lack thereof), without worry of them nailing me with those fees.

My bill is only $40 a month for both lines, so the next 6 months is only $240. Compared to the $400 in fees.

  6. Okay, it does sound as if angelic is looking for a very low needs computer. I second pryan about the continuing decline in DELL parts and service. For Angelic's stated needs, it is perfectly fine to go w/ a Vista Home Basic system and forgo the 2GB of ram.

The circuit city F750US laptop for $470 probably does a touch more than she needs for example. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1&searchType=user&keyword=f750us&searchSection=All

This one looks good for what I use the computer for. Thanks.

I'm looking to replace my Dell. Nothing but problems with it from the start.

  7. I highly recommend www.sprint.com/sero

You can use email [email protected] to log into the site.

    The $30 plan includes:

    500 Any Time Minutes

Unlimited Night and Weekend Minutes at 7pm

    Nationwide Long Distance

    Roaming Included

    Unlimited Internet from your phone

    Unlimited Text Messaging

    Unlimited Mobile to Mobile

The plan is hard to beat but do check the coverage in your area. I recommend that if you do decide to go with Sprint you call by telephone so you can be placed on the old billing platform.

I'm glad someone is having good luck with Sprint. I sure haven't.

This handy dandy new plan they offered me for $40 that included 1000 Anytime shared minutes (it's a family plan with 2 phones) along with everything else you mentioned, has come back to bite me. Which with my experience with Sprint, I'm not sure why that would suprise me. (The previous plan was 550 shared for $59.95, Vision on one line for $20, Vision plus on the other for $25, and $5 text messaging)

The first bill I got after the change they charged me for both plans, because they put the new plan on the 2nd added line, they left the main phone on the original plan. So I got that changed.

Then next bill had a $75 charge on it for data overages. Had to call and get that fixed. More promises that everything was correct now. 2 days later I try to use my vision plus, all I get are error messages. I call again and I'm now told that vision or vision plus is not offered with this plan. (uhmm, yet the vision still works on my sister's phone--- so now I have to watch for another overage I'm sure).

I hope you have continued good luck with them.

  8. I had tried a few years ago to find a yearbook from my high school. I contacted the publisher (I think it was Jostens?).

Their advise was to contact the school directly, because they didn't have copies of old yearbooks.

Luckily, the year I was looking for, my sister had purchased one of the same year (my Sr year- 1988), so I got it from her.

Not sure if this was suggested yet, but can you find out names of anyone that he went to school with? Maybe contact them to see if they have one they're willing to part with.

    Good luck in your search.
