  1. In today's newspaper TRU I see the ipod nano 129 has a 30GC plus another 10GC but on BF I see if for 129 plus 15GC.

The extra 10GC couldn't be used on Apple products. I bought one of these today and then realized I will never spend the $30 GC by the January expiration date. I plan to return it tomorrow and hope to grab one at Target. I can use that GC for groceries if nothing else.

  2. I have never owned an MP3 nor particularly wanted one, but our van has an adapter for one and it would be nice to have music when all the radio stations fade out. I probably would never use it for anything else. I would copy my personal CDs to it. I would prefer one where I could select a group of songs that I had arranged into my own categories. I am not afraid of technology, but have little patience for it, so something simple is better.

    Your suggestions appreciated.

  3. Camped out at BB at 10am Thursday morning....number 20 in line.....fought off numerous line jumpers late into the evening....management came out at 3am with vouchers....none of the "secret online items" were ticketed!!!.....at 4:15 am management let only those with vouchers inside the store....was able to shop in peace until registers opened at 5am....Was able to snag:

    2 desktops

    2 229.00 Toshiba laptops

    3 digital picture frames

1 Kodak and dig. pic frame bundle

    1 Sanclip MP3 player

    1 Hanna Montana DVD game

    1 H.S. Muscial II CD

assorted other small goodies.......loved getting in store early but not sure if all stores did this...............what an experience tho

I thought the laptops were limit 1. Did you have someone else with you?

  4. Retailers better be really worried, because it seems like people are really looking for deals this year.

Maybe it's just me, but it also seemed that a lot of people were being more selective. Instead of buggy loads of stuff, a lot of people in the lines had only an item or two. I think at least some people (including me) are doing more research for the best deal because times are getting so lean. I don't just grab something because the ad tells me it's a good deal anymore.

  5. Laser Disc player? I can't remeber what those were called but I had an aunt & uncle that owned a Curthis Mathis store. They had one of those players and crates of movies at the time...

My worst buy, luckily was cheap! Wal-mart always sells some small kitchen appliances for $3-$4 - well none of them seem to work! Luckily I only a bought a couple. Ended up throwing away a couple "choppers" cause all they did was turn vergatables into mush mash.

Oops. Does that mean the $3.88 hand mixer I bought this morning is a dud? DS19 wanted one for his apartment and this looked like a cheap option, but maybe not. I guess I'll give him the receipt and he can return it if it doesn't work.

  6. I read here that the $229 Best Buy laptop will need a memory upgrade. There are several upgrades available on BF, but I don't know which one(s) would work in this computer. Has anyone figured that out and can you point me to the right deal?

DD, who starts law school next year, is planning on camping out to try to get one of these. Her old laptop is three years old and she's afraid it won't last much longer.

    Thanks,

  7. Markster,

What a wonderful summary you have at the start of this thread! Thank you SO much for taking the time to do this.

I want a widescreen because I don't always see so well any more. I believe the Garmin Nuvi 660 actually has a wider screen than the standard models.

I was leaning toward the TomTom One XL, but the info here about the more accurate routing is pushing me towards the Garmin models. It does concern me a bit, however, that their maps are apparently old and it's going to cost me to update them.
