Amazon.com will run lightning deals throughout the season on gift cards to various stores and restaurants - I usually snag some of those for gifts. Sam's has some they will be running during their 1-day sale. Target will run a discount on their gift cards in December if they are following what they have done in the past. (I usually stock up on these as well - both for gifts as well as future purchasing plans. Many sites will also offer gift cards incentives when you spend a certain amount on either merchandise (ie: L.L.Bean) and when you purchase a set amount of gift cards you will get a certain amount free. Watch the forums and the front page closely - as when gift cards are listed they usually sell out quite fast.

I love some of the stuff they carry and when I lived in a real city used to shop there often - but now, not having one anywhere close to me - their $99 free shipping minimum KILLS me - anyone else feel that way?
