  1. Man this is tough. The max I can spend is ~$1000 and I want to get the extended warranty. I saw the circuit city ads and I didn't see it so I guess they're not offering the 0% financing on their BF sales items?

    I'm torn between this tv:

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=136248&WT.mc_n=57&WT.mc_t=U&cm_ven=AFFILIATE%20MARKETING&cm_cat=BEFREE&cm_pla=DATAFEED-%3EPRODUCTS&cm_ite=1%20PRODUCT&cm_keycode=57

    and this one:

    http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?prod_id=HCR4755WX%2fXAA

Which tv will give me the best bang for my buck? I want HD and I want to be able to hook up my HTPC to it and be able to play games on it.

I wouldn't mind spending more but I want to finance it if I'm going to be spending more.

  2. Are you normally clumsy? Sorry but it's a serious question.

Do you have a habit of leaving laptops on the ground for object to fall on and break the keyboard and/or LCD?

Do you eat or drink around your laptop a lot?

    hmmm

Well my wife is really clumsy. She has a habit of spilling drinks on our coffee table. With my last laptop, I only dropped it once (damn thing was a beast! tipped over and landed right on the pcmcia wireless card :( )

Otherwise, I'm very careful with my electronics and anal retentive on taking care of them.

Have you ever had to use the accidental coverage? I wonder how painless the process is. :2dog::2tapdance

had to add the dog/dancing monkey emoticons cause they look cool! :D

  3. Hi

My first post on the forum. Thanks for the great deals.

Is this deal worth using for the 9300 or the 6000 or is it better off waiting for the 40% off deal? Reason being that I don't need some of the options that you can't change in the configurations they have given.

Is the 40% off deal likely to come around any time soon?

    Thanks!

Good question. I say you should just get it now. You know you want that laptop. You can smell it. You can taste it! :D

  4. Get the standard 4 cell battery and order an additional 8 cell battery but that's probably $29 more.

    XP Pro?

    Larger hard drive?

    Longer warranty?

Hmmm well would you recommend the dell DPA route or the amex blue cash route. Because if it's the amex blue cash route, they extend my warranty for another year.

I guess I could go with the larger hard drive. I have an extra copy of XP pro sitting at home waiting to be installed on my new laptop (used it on my old laptop which I reinstall xp home on before selling)

My only main concern about the 700m is the gaming ability. I don't plan on playing huge graphics intensive games on this guy but I do like real time strategy games as well as Diablo 2. I figure if I get the 1 gig of ram, it'll help out.

  5. If you're in the market for a loaded laptop with comprehensive 3+ year warranty then this is a great deal :gd_pineap

Which laptop is right for you depends on your needs, how portable and of course budget:

    • 700m - light & portable with beautiful 12.1" WXGA display but small keyboard, only 2 USB ports.
    • 600m - older model
    • 6000 - best bang for your buck laptop with gorgeous 15.4" WSXGA+ display.

Nice keyboard, 4 USB ports, FireWire, not as portable as the 700m.

    • 9300 - desktop replacement, watching TV/PVR or gaming with nice spacious 17" display

    Summary of choices:

    • Inspiron 6000, 1.73GHz, 15.4" WSXGA+, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 6 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

      $1,859 - 40% = $1,115.40

    • Inspiron 700m, 1.7GHz, 12.1" WXGA, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 4 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

Downgrade processor from 1.80 and 1.70 and save $100

Upgrade to additional 8 cell battery for $129 is highly recommended, up to 5 hours battery life!

      $1,824 - 40% = $1,094.40

    • Inspiron 9300, 1.73GHz, 17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen XGA+, 512MB RAM, 60GB Hard Drive, 8x DVD Burner, Windows XP Home, 6 cell battery, 802.11b/g and 3 year at home warranty!

      $2,174 - 40% = 1,304.40

I'm tempted to get the 700m. But I can't seem to get the coupon to work :( Has it already been used up by any chance?

EDIT: nm I got it working. I'm tempted to use the $750 off coupon instead. It gets me 2 years at home warranty with the extra coverage to cover spills/accidents.

    Or

I'm not sure which ones a better deal. I'm leaning towards the Amex one.

  6. Any good deals for an Inspiron 6000 at the moment? I want something with a decent video card. I was looking at the 700M but the keyboard being small turned me off on it. Apparently the 600M feels like it's poorly built. That left the 6000 which I saw someone with and it looked pretty good to me. Plus I can get an ATI card for it.
  7. If the MSN deals works out for you, I'd go with the HP.

Like I said, if portability and battery life are important the Dell 700m wins. This sounds more like a mini-desktop replacement laptop that you're looking for?

I'm having problems finding the MSN deal

Hmmm you're right that I'm really not looking for a desktop replacement. I really want something light. But this thing weighs only 5.6 pounds (compared to my 8100 which weighs around 8-9 lbs). Plus I haven't seen a good 700m deal or I'd jump on it right away. And of course theres the 0% interest for 24 months at CC. But again, I'm weary of getting a extended warranty with Circuit City.

And of course I have to get permission from the woman :D
