  1. Thank you for this information Len! I have been debating about getting an Amazon show since I currently have an echo but this would make it much easier for the kids to video call their grandparents, which of course means I would need to get them one too! This list is a good idea too to provide them (hope you don’t mind if I borrow it)

Merry Christmas everyone. We had a robust conversation about home automation in the BF Discussions which touched on some of the uses of some of the Amazon Echo devices. I have been smitten with the Amazon show. More important, my MOTHER has been smitten by the show. My mother is nearly 80 years old and has managed to avoid technology for nearly a century. I have installed computers which boot to social media. I disguised a tablet as an electronic picture frame which jumped into social media at a touch of the screen. To date, I have had no success at all.

A few months back, I invited my mother to dinner. She sat at the kitchen table as I prepared the meal and became curiouser and curiouser as I went about my business setting timers, asking for quantity conversions, and adding things to my grocery list. Then I asked Alexa to play a radio station and she had to ask what this thing was.

Since then, Alexa has added calling and 'drop in' features and, after using these myself, I have decided to put a show in my mother's kitchen. I was very fortunate to get one from QVC for $155 the week of BF (which included a smart outlet and a couple free subscriptions). Now I am compiling a list of 'skills' my mother might find useful. I'll laminate the list and tuck it under the show. Here is what I have so far. Please feel free to add suggestions as a reply to this message or via PM...

  2. Okay, I looked up the actual manual and It does say you can connect other MP3 players using the auxillary jack if it has a 3.5mm output jack

    http://www.crosleyradio.com/Manuals/CR17_Manual.pdf

You can connect external audio devices such as CD

Players or other MP3 players by using the Auxiliary

Input (Aux In) jack and the supplied Auxiliary cable.

To connect an external devise, follow the directions

    below.

1 Connect one end of the supplied Auxiliary Cable

to the Aux In jack on the back of your unit.

2 Connect the other end of the cable to the Audio

Out Jack or Headphone Jack of your external

    component.

Note: If your external component doesn’t have a 3.5mm

output jack or headphone jack, you will need a

different cable to make the connection. Check

your local electronics retailer for different cable

    options.

3 Begin play on the external component and adjust

the volume of the iJuke to your desired listening

    level.

4 See the owner’s manual for your external

component for information on its operations.

  3. BabiesRus has the iJuke and dock for the ipod on clearance. This looks like a good deal and would make a great gift!

  4. Terrific. I even went in and got credit for the Buy2/get 1 games I bought last night! :D There's a "retro credit" menu selection if you have your receipt info - and since the first day of the rewards program was the day I made my purchases, I lucked out.

How long did it take for purchase to show up? I entered one in early this morning and it is still not showing up.

  5. Also, If you think about it too, TRU just started the Rewards R US. After buying 9 boxes of Pampers brand, you'll get the 10th free. You can get $5 off coupons every once and while so that might even be a way to go. I know they are little more but then you'll end getting the pack.

    Here are the details:

Rewards"R"Us members who participate in Diaper Rewards will be eligible to receive 1 Free Pampers™ Value Box (72 ct. - 252 ct.) when 9 Pampers Value Boxes are purchased. Qualifying diaper purchases are limited to Value Boxes only. Once a member has purchased 9 Pampers Value Boxes, a reward certificate valid for a free Pampers Value Box (72 ct. - 252 ct.) will be mailed to the member's address of record. Reward certificates are valid for 90 days, may not be purchased, have no cash value, and cannot be redeemed for cash in any circumstances. See additional Diaper Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.

  6. Darn.

Well I tried using the free shipping code for another buy 2 get 1 free video game order, and it wouldn't work. Anyone else have a problem?

I noticed it said in regards to the Free Shipping code "Please note that this coupon is valid from 6:00 am EDT 10/17/2008 to 11:59 pm EDT on 11/17/2008."
