  1. I'm surprised this hasn't been posted. I searched and didn't see it.

SanDisk Sansa e270 6GB MP3 Media Player w/ FM/Voice Recorder (Factory-Recertified & Rockbox Ready) at froobi.com Stolen from ATHD and FW. Rockbox is open source firmware. I'm going to try it once my mp3 player arrives. It looks really cool. Also, it allows the player to accept up to an 8GB microSDHC - more than the oem firmware.

Use coupon code ROCKBOX to get the price down to $45 and free shipping.

  2. If it had more memory, I would say this is a good deal. It might be a good deal for a first time player for a kid. If you look, you can probably get a 1 gb mp3 player for around twice the cost.

    From Amazon:

  3. I've read where laptops with similar specs can run somewhat smoothly. I think I read where someone had turned off all of vista's bells and whistles. I don't know how to do it. Probably could google how to.

I gotta a question that I could use your alls help on :) I purchased the compaq c706nr from frys.com this morning. The specs are

    Intel Celeron 530

    Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic

    15.4" WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) Display

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (shared) with up to 251MB Total Available

    Available Graphics Memory

    1024MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

    80GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive (SATA)

    802.11b/g WLAN

Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support

Now I'm kind of unsure about the memory. I'm just planning to use this for email, web, dvd burning, basic stuff but I checked that this laptop only supports a max of 1gb of memory. To use it with this processor and Vista Basic, will it run smoothly or am I going to run into trouble? Thanks for the help in advance!

  4. What is the difference in - and + for DVD's I never noticed which ones I bought before. The ones I have now are +. Should I stick with that.

DVD -R's tend to be more compatible with stand alone dvd players. I've never had an issue switching back and forth with my dvd players.

Definitely check out the guide Ripn linked to: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I too would like to know what the media code is.

  5. To me, the best deal was the 1GB Sandisk from Office Max for $12.99 with free shipping. Yes, the Circuit City SD is cheaper, but I think it's dumb to have a $2.99 item that you have to shell out an extra $27 waiting on the rebate. Just me I guess.

I don't think it's dump per say. Some people don't mind rebates while others absolutely abhor them.

However I agree with your decision and would have made the same decision :)

Ordering online + free shipping + no rebates = sweet success

Well, when I get my rebate in I'll think it was dumb to pay $12.99 when I paid $2.99. I'll take that $10 and literally eat my sweet sucess.;):lmao:

Kidding beside, $12.99 is still a great price. And I have to admit that tomorrow will be my first BF shopping. I'm not looking forward to getting up early but will hit the gym after I grab a couple of those sd cards and have an early start on the day.
