Found a 16gb for 160 at amazon, and with a free car kit, so that made it a really good deal. In black only, but I'll buy a skin for it and call it good.

You only have to buy one copy of Nintendogs, they can share. But earning the money for a second dog takes awhile, so you might be better off getting them each a copy, guess it depends on how well they share! The other dogs can all be unlocked by reaching certain "levels" in the game, and by meeting other dogs on other DS's.

The big problem I had when researching this for my 13 year old, was the fact that you can only use their special paper. I was going to buy it for her after I saw that it would help solve math problems, and she is struggling in math because of her dyslexia with numbers. But the paper thing made me change my mind.

PS2 would be my choice. I'm buying one friday for my dd who is 12. I think it has more versatility then the xbox. We already have a game boy, but if you want something to take with you, we love that too. Just my 2 cents.
