  1. Yeah, but it's only "free" if you buy and activate a cell phone for a 2 year plan...
  2. Forget those rebates, if you're going to pull the trigger, go to the TIVO site and get the box for free up front. But...if you buy 3 years of service for $300 (temporary promotional price, I think normally it's $349), it comes out to somewhere around $8/month. Not bad for a dvr, considering you get the 80 hour box for free. Not as good as the lifetime subscription they used to have, but it seems like it's still better than shelling out $400 + for a good Panasonic DVR, which may be obsolete in 3 years (then again, given how slowly the rest of the DVR market has moved, maybe not).
  3. Mine was more like Black Thursday steal... I had been eyeing the Samsung 17" monitor at Best Buy, but knowing the history of BF at BB, I didn't want to subject myself or my 10 year old son to that, so I started checking - they had the same monitor online early on Thursday for the same price (after MIR) plus about $11 shipping. I hemmed and hawed and delayed, thinking, "well maybe I'll just go see how bad it is." But after reading some more in the forum here about how early people were going to get in line, I decided that I'd check the website again. So later in the day I looked online and they were not only sold out of that one, but the MAG one (which I was secondly considering). Now dreading the thought of getting to BB at 5 AM just for a monitor I started browsing around and found that CompUSA offered the same Samsung monitor for the same price (again after MIR), plus 1 cent shipping. So not only did I not have to brave the throngs of people in the early morning at BB or CompUSA, I do have to wait for it, but I get it shipped for just a penny - thanks CompUSA. Plus today I got to go to Fry's and *not* buy anything and watch others standing in a line that must have been 300 long (at least 300, maybe 500). Whatever it was, it weaved up and down aisles throughout the store - I'd guess it was at least a 2-3 hour line just to check out - danbo
  4. Here's the whopping 4 Friday only deals that were in my local Home Depot ad (stores open at 6 AM) 1. Magnavox 15" LCD TV - $287 2. Ryobi 7.2 V drill (charger and battery included) - $9.99 3. Stanley 62 piece mechanic's set, includes a 1/4" and 3/8" drive - $39.96 4. Strait-Line Laser level - $9.96
  5. Yeah, now we know why Home Depot was threatening lawsuits over early disclosure of their BF ads, because they didn't want anyone catching wind early that they would only have 4 Friday only specials...
  6. And what about the MAG from BB? They used to make decent monitors. In checking the specs versus the Samsung, the contrast ratio is definitely not as good, but it's also $60 cheaper. Will the picture not be as sharp (given that the refresh, resolution, and brightness are almost equivalent) from just a lower contrast ratio? Anyone??
  7. I don't think just printing them will work. I just grabbed my copy of those coupons and they have upc barcodes on the back for scanning. Maybe (doubtful) they would have them at the store in the morning? Sorry, - danbo
  8. CompUSA has a Wednesday (today) all day deal for Sandisk CF 128mb for $12.99 (after $17 instant savings).
  9. There was a BF ad for Fry's in my local (Oregonian) paper today, on the back page of the sports section. Sorry I don't have it with me, but I don't recall anything that was a "once-in-a-lifetime" sort of deal. Maybe someone else has the page?
