Just an FYI-this is an EDTV and not an HDTV, so you will not be able to receive broadcasts in true HDTV format. However, for $540.00 this is still an excellent price. If anyone else finds this TV for $540.00, let us know. Thanks for posting atisikitabasket!

Thanks Pokeyron. I had never heard of monoprice.com, but I did check them out and they are inexpensive, even better than cablesforless.com (where I normally shop)!! Both sites offer prices much lower than anything you'll find at a retail store. I'll give monoprice a shot.

go to: www.cablesforless.com They have HDMI cables starting @ $11.99 3ft, $15.99 6 ft, $17.99 10 ft. --some of the best prices out there. The quality is good as well. I compared them to the $100+ Monster Cables and there was no difference in the picture quality on either of my HDTV sets. With Monster, you're definitely paying for the name.

You couldn't have said it better Wolfdevil. It's all a matter of being at the right place at the right time. :) Like you said, if it weren't for the great folks on these forums I would have never gotten this TV for anywhere close to what I paid. Have a good one!

Great job Wolfdevil. Like a lot of other stores, Sears was all over the place as far as price matches go. Your store would do it, but mine wouldn't. They were really strict on not matching doorbusters--I had a friend in another state who had the same experience. I ended up with the $1199.00 CC sale price (since that TV was not actually a doorbuster) less the 10% price match difference. Anytime you can get this Panny for less than $1400-1500 you're getting a bargain. In your case, a great bargain!

No one had success that I saw, and there were a few people trying. Had a floor manager tell me that most of the coupons were fake and that even if they weren't, they were not eligible to be used on Friday/Saturday sales because they were special offers.

Beagle--I checked with Circuit City before I went to Sears and was told three things by a floor manager, one-they were sold out of the TV and there were no rain checks, two-most of the 10% coupons were fakes, three-the coupons (if valid) were not being honored because the TV was a special offer that does not allow additional discounts. Trust me I tried because I was trying to get as low a price as possible, but you weren't getting this TV for less than $1199.00 at CC. Watched people in line with printed internet coupons who were being denied. Wolfdevil--you got a sweet deal. The Sears manager told me they would not do a price match on a doorbuster. You got there at the right time. Like you said, there were a lot of people around so they were trying to process folks without hassles. By the time I got to Circuit City they were sold out so I didn't have a TV to purchase to get a price match. Congrats to you. I know you'll enjoy the set. In any case, I'm really pleased with my purchase. Got it hooked up and it looks great!! I still got a great price and did not have to fight any crowds or wait in any lines.

Just got back from Sears and they gave me a price match on the 42" Panasonic Plasma $1199.00 without a problem. This is the HDTV model and not the EDTV that Sears is currently selling for $1299.00All they did was verify online (by going to Circuit City's webpage) that it was not a doorbuster and then they processed the sale. On top of that, as part of their price match policy I got 10% of the difference between their current Sears sale price of $1499.00 and the Circuit City price, which brought down the final total to $1169.00!!! I actually saved money by not going to Circuit City. While I know Best Buy had the same TV as an doorbuster for $999.00, I would have had to have been in line by 5:00 P.M. on Thanksgiving Day to get one of those because the lines were so long. Bottomline, I got a great TV for $30.00 less than Circuit City's price, did not wait 1 minute in line outside the doors in the freezing cold, nor did I have to wait the typical 1-2 hours in line once I got in the store. Not to mention a full night's sleep. :yup: This is a great TV and very highly rated by CNet, Consumer Reports, etc. If you want this TV, Sears is your place.

Just got off of the phone with the Sears Sr. Sales rep and he told me that they will do a price match on the $1199.00 Panasonic 42" Plasma. Since it is not a doorbuster sale and is on sale Friday through Saturday, they will honor the Circuit City price. I'll ask about the 10% difference when I get there, but I'm not going to get greedy. Heading over there now. I'll let everyone know what happens.

I live in Frederick. Last year there was a small line around 8:00. People had tents. You could still arrive at 11:00 P.M. and get most doorbuster items. The BF store in Frederick is also where they had a near riot two years ago when a bunch of people arrived at the store at 6:00 when they opened and then tried to storm the doors when they opened. They had the Sheriff's Department out there. That is no longer a problem since they pass out tickets for the hot items at least one hour before the store opens. I went to Circuit City down the street last year about 11:50 and was 10th in line. Fortunately I got one of the $199.00 laptops. 11:50 probably wouldn't have cut it at Best Buy though. I wish you well.
