  1. In Norwalk CT this weekend is the Dooney & Bourke sidewalk sale with up to 70% off handbags. They are unbelievably CHEAP!!!
  2. Good luck. Those stores don't have sales because they don't need to. The specialty clothing stores that do have sales are express / limited, old navy, gap, victoria's secret and a few others. Never the expensive trendy teen stores though.
  3. FYI.. Macy's coupons are usually IN the paper. The black and white portion. You need to flip through it because they don't always list it with the sale ads! At least, thats what they did for Filenes (which is now macys)
  4. Hi all, I just wanted to let you know I received a 15% off coupon from the gap in the mail. It says you can get 15% off if you use your mastercard. I called the Gap and asked their customer service if you can still use the 15% off even if you don't have a mastercard. The guy said that yes, you can, and to give the cashier the coupon code 885, or if used online, the code PEACEGAP.

    checks?

IKEA does not accept personal checks.
  6. Just an FYI. On ebay several X-Box 360 systems are selling WELL over 1,000 dollars with mutliple bids. Makes me want to go out and buy one to sell on Ebay. Seriously.
  7. I know a few of you have asked about AE so I thought I'd share that I received a 25% off coupon in the mail a few days ago on the entire store, good until Dec. 24. You need to be on the AE mailing list to receive it (I think, although I dont remember joining). Might be good to check out their website to see if you can join and get a coupon. :)
  8. I wouldn't advise buying an engagement ring at sears. A diamond / engagement ring is an investment, and while he should get the best price for a ring for his bride-to-be, I don't think Sears has anything that you'd consider to be an investment. I know Kay Jewelers does that thing where if it snows on Christmas Eve its free... and I'm SURE all the jewelry stores have some type of sale on BF.
  9. Yes, these stores always have sales, but they are not the kind of "door-buster" sales you see from stores like Sears or Wal-mart. I wouldn't expect Nordstroms to have any type of sale -- and if they do, it isn't going to be on a Kate Spade purse or Burberry colonge. Anything at Banana may be marked down slightly, but not significantly. I wouldn't count on anything significant at J-Crew either. Gap, Limited, Express, Ann Taylor Loft, Macy's and Filenes usually have sales. What your going to find is sales on specific items. Like a sweater for $24.99 instead of $59.99. I'm a Banana / J-Crew shopper too, so I agree, it sucks that they dont have "door buster" sales.

    Workers of BF

I can tell you from experience that Black Friday is hell for retail workers. The best customers are usually your fellow retail employees -- or former employees. Ususally the morning crowd isn't "that" bad. Its around noonish when people begin to get impatient after waiting in long lines. I worked at the Christmas Tree Shop for 2 years during college and I can tell you we'd bring in somewhere between $250,000 - $300,000 dollars in sales on BF -- and for all you Tree shoppers you know that is A LOT of money, considering the highest price piece of merchandise in the store usually doesn't exceed $99.99. Between the long lines, destroyed store, stressed out managers / employees, disgruntled customers, screaming kids -- it really is the worst shopping day of the year. And i'll be working, 8 - 4 p.m. :)
  11. Just an FYI: Casual Corner is going out of business -- so is petite sophisticate and august woman. Look out for 40 - 60% off everything in store starting after BF -- although, closer to christmas the sales should be getting better. cash / credit only (no checks) and be sure to try everything on -- no returns. all stores will be MIA starting december 31st. just thought you might enjoy all the savings. :) make sure you're super nice to your casual corner sales associates! liquidation sales are often the worst, compounded on BF -- well, that's just a nightmare!
