  2. Sadly I think this will be the last year any of my children believe in Santa. My oldest dd is nearly 19, my ds is 13 and my youngest dd is 9. Of course the older two don't believe but they are great about playing along. I've had to step in on a couple conversations between my youngest dd and my 10 yr old niece. My niece doesn't believe anymore and was starting to "break the news" to my dd. I called her out of the room and whispered that "A" still believes and to please not say anything. She asked why and I just explained that it made it fun to believe and that I enjoyed playing Santa for her. She seemed ok with that and the conversation stopped. I do remember how my older two reacted when we told them the news. We sat our oldest dd down when she was about 10 or 11 and told her we had something we needed to tell her. After spilling our "secret" she giggled and said she had already figured it out. LOL then I told her there was more and explained how we also played the Easter bunny and the toothfairy. Her eyes got HUGE and just couldn't believe it. I had to laugh because here was a kid who didn't believe in a jolly old human in a red suit but DID believe in a rabbit that left eggs and a fairy that took her teeth. We still tease her a bit about that every now and again. She just rolls her eyes and walks away.
  3. It's tradition here to put an apple or orange in all the stockings. My parents did it with me and my siblings so I do it with my kids. I try not to go overboard but, somehow, always manage to overbuy for all 3 kids:D Every stocking is different since there is such an age difference. DD18 gets make up, gift cards for fast food or movies, socks and a few pieces of candy. DS13 used to get match box cars but he's out grown those so I'll be putting some I-tunes gift cards, a can of Axe spray(he's noticing girls now..ughhh:eek:), maybe a gc or two for fast food and a few pieces of candy. DD9 will get some lip gloss/chap stick, some crayons or markers, some costume jewelry from Claires , and some candy. I try to wrap the actual gifts that are in the stockings but it doesn't always happen.
  4. I used to save most of the wrapping for Christmas eve. It was tradition to have a glass of wine, listen to Christmas music, and wrap presents. I think this year I'll wrap most of the gifts early and just save a few to wrap Christmas eve. Getting to bed at 3 a.m. and being woke up before 8 isn't a great way to start Christmas day..lol
  5. My list is scaled down quite a bit this year with H & I no longer together. I used to buy for him and his side but this year it will just be the kids. DD18- Clothing, clothing and more clothing..lol She also asked for a new MP3 player since someone stole hers a couple months ago:mad: I'm going to put some fast food GCs in her stocking along with some bath & body stuff. DS-13 He's the hardest to buy for. He's no longer into "toys" and wants all electronic stuff. His dad says he's buying him a PS3 so I'll pick up some games & accessories for it. I'll also be buying him some new clothes since he's growing like a weed! (he's already almost 6' tall!) DD-9 She's the easiest..lol She's been asking for those Zhu Zhu pets , so I'm going to try and get her at least one pet and a few accessories. Her dad is buying her a DS lite so I'll get her some games for that and a case to carry it all in. I had planned on buying a couple more Webkinz but she seems to have lost interest in them so I may pass on those. All of them will get a few DVDs they're asking for and I'll pick up some for myself to put under the tree for Christmas morning.
  6. It used to be Meijers first but they stopped price matching so we hit Walmart first. We price match as much as we can, grab any deals in their ad and get the heck out of there! Last year was the first year I went to Michaels for their door busters and I'm planning on going again this year. I couldn't pass up the cheap bags of Wilton's candy melts! After those two, we head to the mall(even though I swore I would never go again!..lol). We get as much as we can there and then over to the closest Target. On our way over to the out door mall here in town, we stop by Walgreens to grab anything that looks good. We shop the outdoor mall for a bit, grab lunch and head home. I sit down and make a list of everything I got so I don't forget. On Saturday the tree goes up and Sunday, I sleep! Can't wait for Thanksgiving weekend!
  7. The last few years it was my husband and I that would go out early. We would hit Walmart and get everything we needed and then I would drop him off at home. My oldest dd and her friends would take his place and we would be out all day. This year, though, we're not together so he's agreed to take the kids overnight. My oldest and her friends are going during "blitz" this year. Not sure they're ready for it but it will be interesting and fun.
  8. I've been doing BF shopping since I can remember. My STBX never understood why I would want to head out to the stores that early until he realized how much he could save on my gifts. We were at Walmart last year and got everything we wanted to PM in our carts. We then divided up to stand by the items that were wrapped up. I chose to stand by the bean bag chairs because I knew there wouldn't be a mad rush to get them:razz:. I sent him over to the $50 8g MP3 players. We were texting back and forth trying to decide if we wanted more than one. We finally agreed to grab 2 so our 2 oldest wouldn't fight over who had the "better" mP3 player. I get a text about 30 mins before the plastic was due to come off. It's him saying "Help me! There are about 50 teenage girls surrounding these things and I think I'm going to die!":cheesy: I couldn't help but to laugh. I could just picture him being ran over by a bunch of teen girls. He did manage to grab 2 but he said he had to rush in, grab them and go!
  9. Hiding items in other departments makes more work for the sales floor people. I work at Target and I'm ALWAYS having to return items to the right department after finding them hidden behind other things. It can get pretty frustrating at times.
  10. We also loved Walmart's layaway. Dh gets a bonus check but it comes in about 2 weeks after BF so we would put all our BF deals on layaway and then get them out with his bonus. It was nice to be able to pick up everything we wanted in one stop and know we had the items the kiddos put on their wish lists. I sure wish they would bring it back, even if it's just for the holiday season.
  11. No. 2 Has to be A Christmas Story. Seeing as how they play it for 24 hours..lol
