  1. On the BF ad my local sears has it's in the bottom left corner, it doesn't look anything like the one posted here. I try and get a scan of it. This is in Indiana, maybe different ads for different regions.
  2. My local one actually suggested I buy it now and come back BF to get the difference and the Sears ad on the Aquos says it's a 1080p so corporate is in a bind now since the model # listed in the ad is only 768p, was told to come back Monday and they would take care of me. The BF ad my local store has doesn't look anything like the one on here, it's only 5-6 pages.
  3. www.avsforum.com Also I just posted in the Sears forum that I went in today to pre-buy the 46" Aquos from the BF ad (manager even suggested it) and she gave me a hard copy of the BF ad. The actual ad says 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p Full HD $1899 before $900 instant savings. So I happily ordered it and turns out the manu # in the ad is 71185 which is the 768p model, so I went back in and explained the mistake in their ad, they called the district manager and refunded my money and said to come back in Monday and they will take care of it because corporate is now trying to figure out exactly what they are going to do about the ad. So hopefully I'm looking at the 1080p for $999!
  4. If you go back through this thread there is a bunch of posts on this.
  5. YES 1080p matters for gamers, the 360 and PS3 take full advantage of 1080p There is no true set minimum res for HD and tons of other factors to classify HD Depending on screen size, calibration, viewing distance, cables, rendering etc. your 1080p could very well look worse than a 720p setup. Buy what fits your budget and looks good to you.
  6. Direct from experts and not googler's http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=768167
  7. I was referring to LED rear projection tv's also. The new LED's are rated pretty much for the life of the set. And as far as the plasmas not lasting 60,000 hrs that was from a recent discussion. 60,000hrs translates into 8hrs a day 365 days a year for 20 years, i wouldn't expect that of any set. The regular DLP's though are bad on bulbs, and front projectors are only good for about half what the dlp rears are. I fully agree with you that LCD or Plasma is the way to go. We are a big gaming family though and thus shy away from plasma, not taking a chance with kids forgetting to turn it off. Even with proper break-in you can still burn-in a plasma. There's some great info on all over at www.avsforum.com
  8. My reply is different from others as well. Dear Mr. XXXXX, Thank you for contacting Sears. Price Protection Policy The Price Protection Policy allows customers to receive a price adjustment if the product goes on sale up to 30 days later for Sears.com. However, please contact your local store for their Price Protection Policy. If you have additional questions please contact Sears.com at 1-800-349-4358 Thank you for choosing Sears. Have a great day. Look for Great Ideas throughout the store and find Sears exclusive innovations from great brands like Sony, Kenmore, Nordic Track, Craftsman and Reebok. Shannon S. Sears Customer Care [email protected] 1-800-349-4358 This is probably the most correct answer since she states to "ASK YOUR LOCAL STORE", it'll be a YMMV kinda thing I'm sure. So I'll go into the store tomorrow and ask them personally.
  9. Your confusing projectors with rear projection, two different systems. Projectors do have a short bulb life, rear projections last just about the same as plasmas, lcd's. Also any HT Pro will tell you 60,000hrs out of a plasma ain't happenin' , it's like dynamic contrast ratio numbers, each manufacturer has their own "number system"
  10. I haven't been in a best buy since I worked there part-time to deck out the house years ago. They have some of the worst business ethics I've ever seen. I gave it up after being reprimanded for helping a handicapped man out to his car that had just bought a new desktop setup from me after the teenagers that were supposed to help him just kept ignoring him.
  11. Check out www.avsforum.com for the lowdown on the sharp before you completely blow it off.
  12. I just emailed them the same question, we'll see what answer I get. Here's the contact I used. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/nb_10153_12608_NB_CSeMail?adCell=A3

    Lowes BF ad

Just in there today checking out the Whirlpool package, great deal since we just finished a remodel, and the salesman showed me the BF price stickers so I showed him the ad , lol so he made himself a copy since he hadn't seen it yet. :)
  16. Thanks Brad. Now we know why they threatened legal action, they were embarassed
  17. Did you read through my link above? That forum is the pro's of the a/v world.
  18. Sears or CC for me. 40 to 50% off is still a great deal IMO
  19. Not quite true http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=768167
  20. Not true, not all 720p tv's are 1080i as well. Now the opposite is true, all 1080i tv's will do 720p. And the whole 1080i quality depends on proper setup and rendering, if done correctly looks as good if not better than 720p but it's alot more complex than that.
  21. The BF 46" Sharp Aquos from Sears is 1080i not 720p. http://www.pcworld.com/product/specs/prtprdid,37612827/aquos_lc46d43u_46_lcd_tv.html
  22. RIDE OF THE VALKYRIES Great scene btw :)
  23. The Sharp I was referring to is the 46" Aquos for $999 which is an awesome deal. Pany makes a good tv as well. I have a 53" rear projection HD Pany that is two years old and still looks great. Plasmas have a great picture but if it's going to be a daily use tv then the plasma will not hold up and is very susceptible to burn-in from video games. The forum I posted is one of the best when it comes to HD stuff, ask the pros over there what their opinion is. Also I know it will be next to impossible to stand in front of a couple different sets on BF with the rush but if you can go check them out ahead of time and compare in person that's the way to do it. Salesmen will purposely adjust the lower-priced models to look crappy just to get you to spend more on a higher-priced unit (trust me, I worked at worst buy for a year part-time to deck out my house, some of the shadiest characters I've ever met but that's a whole other story). Spend some time adjusting the models your interested in and then pick the one you like the best. Brian
  24. I prefer LCD over plasma. If it's going to be watched alot then the LCD will outlast the plasma considerably and is cheaper. Checkout www.avsforum.com for home theatre advice.
