I have an Acer Aspire one with 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. It does 90 percent of what I use my regular laptop for without issue. If you have a network at home, the lack of an optical drive is a non-issue really. As far as movies, this little thing plays almost everything I throw at it with the exception of 1080p material. I have a copy of Iron Man at 720p plays like a charm! /my 2 cents
