  1. This will be the first time I've gone to BB before 2am. I'm in the South so overnight temps won't go below 30s (ok I'm a wimp but that's pretty cold for us Southerners). What works best? Chairs w/blankets??? Pitch a tent??? I saw the P3 crowd had tents for the past two days. Do the hand warmers really work??? If so, how many should I plan on?? I plan on getting there no later than midnight.
  2. AHA!!!! Thanks for the tip. As someone on the fence about camping out, I will definitely do some recon in the TV section Wednesday night!!!!
  3. My tree is all Hallmark. I started in 1996 when I got married. I have various series and themes. The tree is very organized, i.e. Angels near the top, then Navitiy oraments, etc. This is the first year I will let the kids (5yr old & 4yr twins) pick their own ornament. I am getting them a small tree which they can begin hanging the ornaments they pick on it. Did anyone get the Illuminations lighting last year?
  4. For several years, our Galleria mall has had a "Rock & Shop Midnight Sale" where the stores are open from midnight to 4:30. Close 30 minutes to regroup and then the "official" BF begins including all the anchor stores. How this relates to KB is that KB would be open for the earliest part and the mall would be able to start the Early Bird line and control it. Not so this year, new mall management this year and the mall will not open until 5! Mind you the R&S was very successful - the Galleria is AL largest mall and the parking lot would be full by 3am - - -lots of people would sit in the food court (which was open), do some light shopping and wait for the big bang. (Hallmark has ornaments 20% off which was where I would go). KB's managment is reportedly livid about the change as the Early Bird sale at 5am had become somewhat manageable. All bets are off now and we are back to where we were 5 years ago, only BF mania has only increased.

    amazon.com ?

Excellent...got my sister's DVD request knocked out of the way!!!!
  6. Conflicted....on the one hand, TRU isn't offering any "must have items" which just puts another nail in their coffin as they will drop further down the list of top toy sellers. On the other hand, what they are offering isn't likely to be out of stock, so I can just order it online and save the headaches & lost time of going to TRU on BF.
  7. This kills me!!! Hallmark would have ornaments 20% off. I could get up and be in the Galleria for a couple of hours, get the body & mind going and then head off to the big box stores in time to get in line. Worked perfectly for over 5 years..now
  8. The closest I've come to being blown away was seeing the Westinghouse for $479. Haven't made up my mind yet if it's worth the pre-sun waiting (temperature will play a part). Wal Mart did NOT impress. I never go to CC; I just get BB to match the price.
  9. Woo Hoo...BB will have it for $14.99. :g_dance: :g_dance:

    $4.99 Movies

Entourage Season Two is included in the $14.99 DVDs. Woo Hoo!!!! That's one of the ones I was hoping to see discounted. Disappointed to see there aren't any Disney DVDs.
  11. KB Toys is discounting during their Early Bird specials...keep an eye out for some of the other stores (Radio Shack, Target). Good Luck!!!
  12. My five year old son has had the VSmile Pocket since May and he (along with his sisters) love it. You may hear some reports of the system not lasting but we haven't had any problems with. We brought the rechargable battery (a MUST!!!) and charger. Just yesterday, my husband left it on top of the car and it feel into the street. No problem. Still works. The Pocket's being discounted for BF as are the smartridges ($14.99, down from $19.99).
  13. I think BB has the better layout and s far as doorbusters, I have found that BB commits better to having adequate stock. CC often has cheap DVDs but will only have 5 in the store. On BF, BB has tons. As BB will match CC's prices, I stick with BB and get the reward points.
  14. KB Outlets typically do not match the full retail store promotions. Our outlet has BIG signs on the doors letting you know that before you even walk in the store!!! They will, however, have their own BF sale on things they carry in the outlet. I have found decent stocking stuffers there. Also a good place to look for discontinued items.
  15. O.K. BB has in the past BF sales had the more recent Disney releases for $9.99 (like Aladdin). Do you think BB will have Cars for less than the $13-$14 bucks it will be at release Tuesday??
  16. I hit Target in the early AM (around 10-11) and I've never had a problem finding my picks and getting out there quickly. Last year, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes!!! They're building a Target 10 minutes from my house but it won't be open for the holiday season. Can't wait to next year though. I don't think I will have go further than 15 miles for everything!!!

    Name Brands Ipods

Last year, BB was offering free $25 iTunes gift card with the purchase of the Nano but that may be b/c the Nano was the hot new version last year. Look around there should be some type of promotion again.
  18. That is exactly what I was afraid of when TRU broke off from Amazon. In the past I did my entire toy shopping online and everything came in Amazon boxes I could just throw in the attic. TRU seems to already have availability issues with it's 2-3 business day shipping standard. If I do use the site, I will definitely do before 11/15...my brother in law was a part of the 1999 fiasco with stuff arriving after Christmas!! Surely TRU will get it together and not have a repeat.
  19. Yes Birmingham, Alabama...although I work in Montgomery!!!!
  20. My son got one for his birthday and we haven't had any problems with it six months later. If you are near a Sam's club, you can save $15. They have the console with the Alphabet City game and an extra controller for $49. That's the price everyone else is selling it for except it wouldn't include the extra controller which is $15 alone.
  21. I got my Tommy Hilfiger postcard today. ...pretty much like the past years. 15% off entire purchase 11/15 through 11/28 plus one for a friend Early Bird Specials ('til 9am Friday and Sat) Boys & Girls Solid Polo Shirts $9.99 Women's & Men's Crewneck Sweaters $19.99 25% entire purchase of $150 or more The fine print notes the hours of midnight to 9am although it says all stores may not open at midnight.
  22. As far as BF doorbusters go, don't expect the hot toys to be included. TRU usually has the same stuff every year. Expect stuff like Candyland, the Fisher's Price Doctor's Kit, and Chutes & Ladders for $4-$5. TRU does a big push each November and will be discounting the entire month. If you are in search of a "hot" item this Christmas, you might want to snap it up now as it might be harder to find after BF.
  23. EXCELLECENT TIP!!!!!! I will definitely have to remember that!!!!
  24. WHAT!!!!! If they did that here, that would be my BF!!! We now have two Coach stores in Birmingham (one in the mall and one as a free standing store). Maybe now we will see some sales. OMG! I'm sitting here with my mouth wide open!!!
  25. Here in the South, we've had churches set up with doughnuts and coffee. The trick was to hang around right before opening in the old days you could slip in. Now they make the group set up across the parking lot. Yes, I've used the Church in a BF shopping frenzy.
