  1. I run a Christmas radio station on live365.com (I earn no money for this, in fact I pay a hefty monthly fee to run it.  I do it for my love of Christmas music).  You can find it at http://www.live365.com/stations/rob9874 .  It's mainly oldies/classics, with some modern songs mixed in.  It's free, but limited to 100 listeners at a time (that's all I can afford.  More listeners = more money out of my pocket).  They also have an iPhone/Android app where you can listen on the go.

  2. Why? Logic would dictate if they are at 20% off Blu-Rays last week then 12 days later they should be at least 30% off. Has nothing to do with BF discount sales and has more to do with increased discounts as the days pass.

But when Amazon's everyday prices on blu-rays are 30% -50% off MSRP (and deepdiscount's sale even cheaper), it'll be a long while before CC is cheap enough to buy from.

  3. No, at 32" any HD source will look good. You need to get much larger than that to start getting benefits from 1080p.

I agree. Whereas I only have 1080i on my 51", I've switched back and forth from 720p to 1080i, and cannot tell a difference. I keep it on 1080i, for peace of mind, but I can't tell with my eyes. And I have young, discerning eyes, and I spent hours adjusting my picture to optimize it. I'm sure even with the best source, the difference is so minimal, it's not worth the time or money spent worrying about it.

  4. The past year is the first year that people said forget Thanksgiving and camped out. The got there the night before Thanksgiving in tents. By noon Thanksgiving day there was over 50 people in line.

That's just crazy!! I can see if it was a chance to win a new car or something. But to save $300 on an item? Even $500. If someone asked if I would rather get $500 for wasting Thanksgiving and sitting outside from noon till 5am the next morning, or not get $500, but get to enjoy Thanksgiving, watch football and Christmas movies till late, and get a good night's rest, I would do the latter.

  5. A co-worker of mine swears up and down that last year, Best Buy has a 50" plasma TV for $599 or $579. He's camping out at BB this year, hoping to find a similar deal. I didn't think 50" plasmas would sell for <$600 this year, let alone last year. The only thing I could find on last year's BF was a 50" plasma for $1699 (which was $1300 off!). Anyone know of one for $599?
  6. point being is if you're going after the big items. be careful. They don't care and will have you wait in line for hours just to get you into there store and most only have a very very small amount on hand.

I always saw it from the other perspective. I would be 50th or 100th in line, and hear people around me saying how they're here for the $200 laptop, or similar doorbusters. I would laugh at them, as I knew the 5 to 10 people who camped out the night before, and were the first in line, were the only ones getting the SUPER good deals. These people thought they could show up at 4am, not have to freeze their butts off all night, and still be eligible for the $200 laptop. Bait and switch does not apply to Black Friday. They don't give rainchecks to any and everyone who came for that deal.

I guess this isn't advertised anywhere, but a lesson learned from doing Black Friday every year.

  7. Got in line at 1:00am to get the HP all-in-one for $99. We were 66th in line when we arrived at 1:00. When they let us in at 5:00, I made a mad dash to the printer aisle. The 2610 was on the shelf, but no boxes below it. They had every other model, but no 2610. Soon, others showed up, and we were all looking around in a panic. Now I'm thinking, "This isn't fair. I got here at 1:00, and now people who showed up at 3:00 and 4:00 are at square one with me. I have no advantage by this point.

We ask a CC employee, and he points us to the printer aisle (duh!). We told him there are none there, and he says, "Well, if they're not on the shelf, then we don't have any." FURIOUS!!! I think they might be on a pallet in the main aisle. So I leave and run around the store looking for them. Nothing.

So I return to the printer aisle, and now there's like 15 people there (this is like 5:05). One lady has her arm draped over the floor model. She said she asked a manager, and he's looking, but said if there are none, she can have the display. The manager returns to say he has a couple in back, and they haven't been put out yet. Everyone points to the lady holding the display and tells him that she was there first and deserves the first one (they obviously didn't see me in the aisle at 5:00:05). He hands her and another lady one, and tells us there's a few more, and to meet him by the back door.

All 15 or so of us rush the back door, just like when the front doors were opened 5 minutes earlier. He says he only has a few, and I reach over the people in front of me, look him square in the eye, and told him I've been in line since 1:00. I know, sappy story, but I felt I deserved one. I was willing to wait longer than most, so I wasn't going to leave without one. He handed it to me, and I got it. I'm sure I made some people mad, but I didn't waste a night of sleep to leave without what I came for. I could have been nice and waited my turn, but timidity gets you nothing on BF. It was me or them, and I chose me. :)

  8. Well, here's one that will crack you up- My SIL seems to think she is going to get in line at Best Buy at 4am and still be able to get one of the $150 desktops! I tried to warn her, she wouldn't listen. Oh well, good luck to ya then. Don't say I didn't tell ya so lol.

Man, I'd love to be there for the "I told you so!" moment. Some people just have no idea.

  9. I use reseller ratings to check out the credibility of online stores that I've never heard of, to make sure they don't just take your money and never ship the item. I think most people know what they're getting when they go to Best Buy. I won't let reseller ratings influence which major chain I shop at. And yes, it's funny they have 23 ratings in 6 months. I have a feeling people don't use online reseller ratings for major chains, unless they have a problem. You're more likely to log in and give a good review for a company like B&H, which has awesome customer service, but isn't known by the majority.
  10. I waited too long, and went out at 11am, and all papers in town were sold out. I live in a small suberb of Phoenix (Maricopa), about 20 miles outside of town, with a population of about 10,000. If all the papers in this one-horse town are sold out by 11am, that means everyone is interested in BF deals! I think I need to go a few hours earlier now.
