I usually do pockets only, but last year I carried a small backpack style purse since I wanted to keep my cell phone on me as well (I don't have a cell phone hip clip). but people kept bumping it and it was making me CRAZY! I have a great plan this year. I found an awesome pull over sweatshirt at American Eagle Outfitters that has a pocket inside the front pocket that closes with velcro so I will carry my cards, license and keys in my front jeans pockets and my cell phone in the sweatshirt pocket. Another great option if you are in not too cold of weather is a windbreaker with a front zipper pouch.
