  1. As of now, its back in stock!!! Click here. Look for this: http://trus.imageg.net/graphics/store_promo/m3672419s35.gif 2 for $30! (Details) to make sure it still qualifies for the deal. I have two DSi playing sons (and two others that are still too young) and it turns out that while you can play these games in multiplayer mode, they appear to demand that each player have a copy of the game. So I bought 2 three-packs. 6 DS games for $30.00 / $42.36 including shipping and tax!
  2. I got the same email about the one day sale. It says "up to 60% off toys and games". Including the $49 3-pack as half of a 2 for $30 deal (making it $15) is more than 60% off - its 70% off. And it would make it 83% off the regular price if you bought the three games individually. And then you can see that each of the games individually are in stock while the three-pack is out of stock. Plus TRU is well known for sloppy web pricing. Pretty sure it was an error. But I guess it doesn't matter, since they're showing OOS now. I can't jump it even if I wanted to. They got wise before I did... :) By the way, the 2 for $30 is still going on.
  3. Dang - had to be an error on TRU's part, but that was an error I would have snagged in a heartbeat. Great deal! Too bad I missed it.
  4. Looks like they're being deliberately vague on that one. But with an SRP of $549, I'd say its most likely an off-brand 720p set. Please keep in mind though that most people don't need 1080p. First off, yes, it can make a difference, but the opportunities to notice the difference are few and far between for MOST people. To start, there are no networks broadcasting in 1080p - they're mostly using 720p with a few offering 1080i on occasion. Blu-rays are potentially 1080p as are some games (PS3), and some Pay Per View is 1080p too, but if your interests don't lie there at the moment, buying 1080p is really kind of a waste of money in my humble opinion. Check here to see if you'd even be able to tell the difference. I'm skeptical that the networks will invest to go to 1080p since the difference in quality is so negligible anyway. I'm betting that they'll hold off to see what happens in the 3d marketplace and will probably up things to 2160p3d or something in a few years, effectively skipping 1080p.
  5. And clearly whoever put the ad together is a Jimi Hendrix fan - you see how they posted that electric guitar on page 4? :)
  6. I just ordered one too. Is it truly a full motion pan, swivel, extend/retract and tilt mount like the description says? I'm hoping so, but for this price, it almost doesn't matter. I just need it to tilt forward about 10 - 12 degrees. Anything else is gravy.
  7. Hmmm....probably the Armor of Light - Melissa Scott ...or maybe the Chronicles of Narnia - CS Lewis ...or maybe Timeline - Michael Crichton ...or maybe To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee ...so tough to choose... I think I gotta go with Mockingbird though.
  8. Did a Whois search on jerseysonlineshop.com... Its registered to zhuzhixue in Shanghai, China. Plus, the tagline in their upper left corner of the page says... "we are professional nfl jersey supplier"...but apparently not professional English editors... On the shipping FAQ, you'll find more broken English and a link to their shipping tracker - which looks to be entirely in Chinese... I'm not saying that Chinese is by definition worse than English. I'm saying that you will probably be paying more for shipping. I'm saying that you may have great difficulty if you need to communicate with the company concerning any problem you may encounter (unless you're fluent in Chinese). And Shanghai is well known for their knock-offs. FootballFanatics looks to be out of Jacksonville, FL.... which is actually kinda odd, isn't it? I mean, isn't Jacksonville the one NFL team that can't seem to fill their stadium? You'd think Jacksonville might be nearer the bottom of the list of places that Football Fanatics might reside....HAHAHA Anyway, hope this helps.
  9. Rock on! Glad they honored the price in the cart for you. :) Anyone have any experience with BestBuy and whether or not these items come back in stock? It says sold out now, and I've a friend that just mentioned they were looking for just such a deal. I've seen other places like Sears and WalMart where an item will bounce back and forth from out of stock to in stock periodically through a week. Should I tell them too bad or tell them to keep an eye on the website as its likely to come back.
  10. This is more than enough computer to run most any web browser out there, any email client and download as many mp3's as they can stuff in that 250GB HDD. Just make sure the student doesn't need to run anything really big like AutoCAD or Maya or something.
  11. Good question. A Core2Duo IS a dual core, but its name simply indicates that its a higher quality dual core. Simply put, processors nowadays also contain their own cache, or staging area, where numbers needing to be crunched are sent to be fed into the processor. This cache area can be big or little. It can be fast or slow. Basically, the Core2Duo processors from Intel utilize their bigger and faster caches and the regular "dual core" processors (or more precisely, the non-Core2Duo processors) are stuck with the slower, smaller caches. In the effort of keeping this conversation simple, I won't delve into the speed and size of the various other components that also come into play such as the RAM, North Bridge, etc... Picture it as you would a 2 lane highway. A Core2Duo 2 lane highway would have (obviously) 2 lanes and a speed limit of 75mph. For the point of the argument, let's say that the road was very heavily policed and they were keeping you to 75 mph.A non-Core2Duo would also have two lanes, but would have a 55mph speed limit with similar policing activity. The road itself could probably handle faster speeds, but in the effort of keeping things safe (or padding the county pockets with speeding ticket fees), the signs on the side of the road are limiting your speed.Either one would probably be better than a single lane road though, right? Hmmm....could you run those numbers by me again....?
  12. The non-English links are still active. If you look at the addresses for those... (please pardon the creative spacing so that I can demonstrate my point) Japanese --> h t t p ://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_JP_LEXAR_Retail.exeSpanish --> h t t p ://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_ES_IT_NL_LEXAR_Retail.exeItalian --> h t t p: //www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_ES_IT_NL_LEXAR_Retail.exeDutch --> h t t p ://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_ES_IT_NL_LEXAR_Retail.exeGerman --> h t t p ://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_DE_FR_LEXAR_Retail.exeFrench --> h t t p ://www.corel.com/akdlm/6763/downloads/PaintShopPro/v10/v1010/Lexar/Corel_PaintShopPro1010_DE_FR_LEXAR_Retail.exe...their general naming convention becomes apparent. So basically, if you play around with the links, perhaps replacing the "JP" in the Japanese version with an "EN", one might assume that they would download the full English version of the software.
  13. Tell ya what....being the nice guy I am, you can send them my way.
  14. Looks like the following are already sold out... BearsBroncosChiefsColtsLionsPanthersRaidersSeahawksSteelersTitans49ersThese are in *low* stock... BengalsBrownsPackersPatriotsVikings And they must have a stack of Saints backpacks as it didn't warn about being low in stock... I missed out on the Colts and Lions....ah well....
  15. Hey love2beurwifey, this is totally not meant with any disrespect, but quite frankly, I've never had a well done steak ANYWHERE that didn't taste like crap... To me its kinda like asking for a cup of coffee, but specifying that you want just the burnt sludge that's been sitting in the pot for 2 hours. I dunno. Not saying that Ruby Tuesday's is anything special, as they've been very hit and miss for me over the years, but judging ANY restaurant by how well their well done steaks taste is kinda rough in my book. How were the shrimp?
  16. As a father myself....I'd suggest cash.... ....or Spaten Optimator....hahaha
  17. I applaud you if you succeeded in getting the TV for said price, but in the interest of advising everyone else here on what they should expect, I figured it would be only proper to post the following: Perhaps the "Powers-That-Be" could put together a more complete reference for this (if they haven't already - to be honest, I didn't search for one...) Circuit City has what they call their "Unbeatable Price Guarantee". This guarantee - like BestBuy's - only offers 110% of the price difference, not 10% off the lowest sale price. And like BestBuy's guarantee, it will depend on Circuit City acknowledging the lower advertised price as coming from an "authorized seller", not a reseller or something... But like just about any other store out there, the manager you speak with will generally have the authority to mark the price down to whatever point they deem appropriate. Now, if the manager just put in their two weeks notice and is looking for a vacation, they might be more inclined to discount the product than a new manager that just got in trouble last week for marking something down too much. So, as they say, your mileage may vary. - Dan
  18. BestBuy's Official Store Price Guarantee I'm not saying its impossible for you to get some new store manager that doesn't know what they're doing who accidentally refunds you 10 times what they're supposed to, but I am suggesting that you don't count on it. :) Paraphrased: They will refund 110% of the price difference - only if you purchased it from BestBuy and then found Sears (or some other competitor) advertising it cheaper. So, if we know we can get it at Sea rs for $699... And we know we can get it at BestB uy for $799... (had to put the odd looking spaces in there in order to get the links to work...) To get the best deal, you would need to purchase the TV from BestBuy at $799 and then show them proof that Sears is selling it for $699. Then, according to BestBuy's Store Price Guarantee, they will refund you $110 (110% of the price difference). So your final cost would then be $799 - $110 = $689 from Best Buy. (plus taxes and all that of course) Please keep in mind though, that proof of Sears' sale price may not be easy to provide. For example, some BestBuy's will not honor a competitor's website-only price. (Heck, I've been to stores that wouldn't honor their OWN website-only price.) Or, if Sears sells out, they will probably refuse to match the price as well. Two years ago, to play Best Buy against Circuit City for exactly this reason, I had to actually buy a second TV from BestBuy (didn't bother picking it up) and took the receipt to Circuit City to use as proof. Then I simply returned to BestBuy and cancelled my purchase. It was novel at the time, but I'm not sure it would be worth my time anymore. Hope this helps. I think this is a very good price for a very good TV and hope plenty of you fine folks take advantage of it (I've forwarded the info to a friend of mine personally) but I want you all to be perfectly aware of what to expect come time to pay up. - Dan
  19. As someone who has owned this game pretty much since it came out, it really is "all that"... :) Outstanding game that's fun for all ages, from my 6 and 8 year old sons, to me and my wife, even to our aunts and uncles and parents when they come visit. Get it if you can find it.
  20. Guilliam, you know we all value your opinions....quaint as they might be.... :) just kidding. Some clarifiying statements need to be made here. The VAST majority of HD TV's out there today fall into 2 primary categories: 1.) thin flat screen that you can hang on a wall (like Plasma and LCD) 2.) rear projection (like CRT, LCD or DLP rear projection TV's) Type 1 above is what most people think of in their minds when they think HDTV's anymore and the type of TV the original post was about. I don't have any hard numbers, but I would guess that they also make up the lion-share of what's purchased anymore as well. This wasn't always the case though. When LCD's and Plasmas were brand new, they cost A LOT more than the rear projection TV's....$4000 for the cheapest one available. Rear projection TV's were able to utilize some older, already proven technology to provide a HD picture for less money. There were tradeoff's of course, but it was certainly the most cost effective option for a HDTV at the time. Type 2 was much more common 2 or 3 years ago, when Guilliam bought theirs. Yes, it is an HDTV. Yes it utilizes an LCD. Yes, it was made by Panasonic. But is not at all the same as the TV in the original post. Since then Panasonic has earned a reputation as one of the best, bar none, in the Plasma screen market. And they make very good LCD's as well. But most manufacturers have moved away from the rear projection TV's as its old technology and has expensive pitfalls (regular bulb replacements even when everything works perfectly). An LCD rear projection TV IS NOT the same as an LCD HDTV as it is commonly referred to. Vastly different components and design. And an LCD rear projection TV has even less in comon with a Plasma TV. I like analogies, so here's one: Comparing an LCD rear projection to an LCD to a Plasma would be like comparing a Honda Civic to a Honda Ridgeline to an Acura TSX. Yes, they are all made by the same company, and yes they are all designed to get you from point A to point B, but the cost is different and they really don't share much at all in components (maybe the odd button or bezel here and there). Now, there are tons of arguments on the LCD vs. Plasma scene that I won't get into here, but I thought the above explanation was warranted to make sure we were comparing apples to apples as it were. Me, I prefer Plasma. I own a Panasonic Plasma HDTV I bought on Black Friday two years ago. One of the panels went out on my Panasonic Plasma HDTV about 9 months after I bought it, but Panasonic gave me the royal treatment and really took care of me well. (They provided an exact in home replacement while they took mine away to repair it at ZERO cost to me.) I've had no problems since then. Hope this helps. - Dan
  21. ditto. This is certainly not a $99 remote - gotta be a typo. Heck, it says you put STICKERS on the remote for the programmed buttons at the top... Probably worth $10 or so as priced, but nowhere near $99.
  22. HDMI cables can handle 1080P just fine and then some. And 720P will blow you away if you're used to regular TV. The difference you'll notice between 720P vs. 1080i vs 1080P is absolutely MINUSCULE compared to the difference between any one of them and regular TV. BTW, 1080P is a resolution of 1920x1080x(24 or 30)Hz. HDMI is a compact audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital streams, but even the oldest HDMI standards supported up to 1920x1200x65Hz and the only limitation here was the coders/decoders involved at the DVD players/TV monitors - not the cable itself. HDMI 1.3 (which is the standard at the moment) can even go up to 2560x1600x75Hz. So, if you go with a 720P HDTV, that's fine and I believe you'll probably be just as happy with it as if you'd gone with a 1080P (maybe even more happy for the money you saved), but don't do so on the premise that the HDMI cable won't be able to send the signal because it can. And the difference between a $70 HDMI cable and a $6 HDMI cable is NADA, NOTHING, ZIP, ZILCH. We're talking digital signals here - 1's and 0's - not analog signals. The strength of an analog signal makes a huge difference in the picture. But a TV interprets a strong 0 exactly the same as it does a weak 0, so you don't need to throw your hard earned money away on an expensive HDMI cable. Do yourself a favor and get a cheap HDMI cable from someplace like Meritline.com or something. Now, the argument between HDMI vs. Component (red/blue/green) cables is another story. My personal suggestion here is if you're only going to need a cable of 15ft or less, go HDMI. If its longer, go Component. Hope this helps someone...
  23. Not quite as great a deal as the original post, but a decent consolation prize perhaps. Carhartt Workshield Jacket Regular price $39.95 Sale $19.88 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/Item/98/00/07/i980007snog.jpg
  24. I agree with most all of what you said with one caveat. A laptop will generally offer more power and therefore more ability to handle the stupid little programs that non-technically savvy people put on their computers (by accident or on purpose) that eat up system resources and slow down systems. I have to clean these stupid things off relatives' computers all the time. If you know what you're doing, then a netbook is more than adequate for the vast majority of what you need a laptop for. If you know what you're doing and you're a big time gamer or are seriously into CGI or something, you're going to do that on a tower (not a laptop or netbook) anyway as the necessity to regularly upgrade things like video cards and processors and sound cards and such require that type of platform. Unless you've got more money than sense and enjoy throwing out laptops every 6 months as they become obsolete... When all is said and done, a netbook probably isn't the best choice for you if its your only computer, but it makes a great addition to an already existing wireless network. Hope this helps...
  25. Two years ago, I price adjusted at Circuit City with no problems at all. I walked in there a week early with the printed out ad in my hands and had half a dozen Circuit City reps drooling over it as I guess they hadn't been shown yet. I bought the 42 in Panasonic Plasma HDTV, an Onkyo HT in a box, a Garmin c340 GPS and some noise cancelling headphones that were all set to go on sale on Black Friday. I was told unequivocally that I could just bring back the receipts sometime during the day on Black Friday and they'd refund the difference. I did as they said and they completely honored their side of the deal with no questions asked. Now, finding a Circuit City open on Black Friday might be a little difficult this year...but they were good to me in the past. - Dan
