  1. I'll vouch for the quality of Toshiba laptops, as I work from home and usually do so next to my very wild toddler. For example, he likes to hit golf balls off the back of the laptop...he also punches the keys to try to get me to "stop". It's been hit several times with small footballs - works great, no cracks in the screen. Only issue right now is that it makes this popping noise if I open and close it, but it does open and close, and I've had it for 2 1/2 years now, and type probably 60 hrs/wk on it for work.

Just my 2 cents :) Hate HP computers and laptops, btw, so I share some sentiments on here.

I have to be honest. My first Toshiba was OK except for the fact that I literally went through battery chargers 1 per month (cheap ebay ones). A lot of that was the user lol. That was back in 2005. I bought another in 2009 (which I am currently using today). It has been ok. Vista was absolutely terrible on it for some reason. I literally had to reformat it once a month for 4 months until I got the windows 7 upgrade disc. For some reason it would just lock up and not work cause Vista was just bad. I tried taking it back to Best Buy multiple times and they would not refund my money or exchange it cause I could not duplicate the problem in front of them (the main reason why I hate buying anything from that terrible corporation). I haven't had a problem since, well, until about 3 months ago. Some of my keys don't work anymore. I imagine the motherboard is slowly going out. I have to use a usb keyboard now. I will admit, this computer has taken a beating, but keeps on ticking. It is pretty much my deciding factor in getting another.

I plan on buying another Toshiba from staples on Black Friday. I'm going to hope that it doesn't mess up like it did with Vista.

  2. Very Cool. Did they release what time everything was going to be last year? I thought the whole point on the lightening rounds was for it to be a little bit of a surprise?

Not that I'm complaining, I just really do not remember this at all last year.

    Thank you

    Roku

    mme/deelite, those are good prices...

    Best Buy

Roku 2 XD Wireless Digital Media Player $59.99

Roku 2 XS Wireless Digital Media Player $79.99

    Roku HD Streaming Player $39.99

I have a few Rokus and prefer them to streaming BD players simply because they are better supported. New channels are coming onboard all the time and third parties are also developing for them. Should you care about that? Maybe. If you are simply looking for a Netflix, Amazon, or Vudu player, you probably do not care. If you are looking for more, you should.

My favorite deal for a Roku is the Playon promotion that buys you a lifetime subscription to Playon plus a Roku LT for $70. Playon adds a lot of channels to the Roku. Plus, this is shipped to you -- no lines or risk of out of stock.

What is the difference between the XD and XS?

I"m thinking about getting the standard $40 one. Not sure if it will work with my internet. I can barley stream Netflix on the XBOX because I'm lucky to get 90 kilobytes a second down.

  3. Will any details about this package deal become available? Like USB 2.0 or 3.0? HDMI ready? Anything? I'm looking at either getting this or possibly the Lenovo H430-57311430 Desktop PC from Staples for $449 and buying the $80 Dell Monitor from Dell.

The Computer deals really aren't that great this year sadly.

  4. i clicked on the $199 40" TV AS SOON as it popped onscreen and BAM yeah it went to checking deal to sold out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTH like they had 3 of them to sell or what?!

Same thing here. Sounds like the Kindel fiasco from last year.

Oh well, wasn't meant to be for me to buy a tv this year. Screwed up a lot on black Friday items this year.
