  1. My guess is these will be more along the lines of household items and smalller prices, such as blenders, air fryers, other small kitchen appliances. Possibly clothing as well, but nothing earth shattering
  2. Like others, pretty disappointing Black Friday for me. Got a game called "Klask" for my son, he's 18 but a big fan of air hockey and seems to be similar to that in a tabletop version. Also got a couple pairs of pants for work.
  3. They are the same things, just online a couple days earlier
  4. Very few places, if any have "Doorbusters" anymore. I wonder if it's because they realize they can cut overhead by reducing their staffing on Friday in their brick and mortar locations and just rely on people shopping online instead? One of the boardgame stores around here sold $75 tickets for their sale on Friday. They will have a decent amount of games at 50% off , some maybe a bit more. In reality as anyone that shops at local gamestores knows, they can not match the prices of online boardgame retailers, due to their overhead to operate the store. In reality, these "50% sale prices" are probably 10-20% off what is online, but being able to support the store is a nice opportunity. Plus, they do bring back the fun of old style Black Friday's by giving everyone a gift bag with over $150 in games. Last year the bags probably had closer to $200 even though they were advertised as $150 value. There's that gamestore, and then the $10 off $10 with chances for bigger prizes from JCPenney. Otherwise I'm not sure of many doorbusters or boorbuster-like promotions
  5. Are there no deals this year on cell phones where they give you a gift card for upgrading? Seems they have those every year?
  6. It's pretty much as close to "classic Black Friday Giveaways" I've seen recently. Only thing is you have to pay for a ticket which is $75 to the event. They split days over Black Friday Weekend between boardgames,, collectible card games and miniatures. Each day, you can buy a ticket to get in at 7:30 for $75. In addition to having first shot at the sale prices, you get a gift bag filled with games. Last year the value of the boardgames seemed to run close to $200.
  7. I've seen some years they had discounts on their sports card/collectible card blaster boxes. Hopefully they do that again this year
  8. I really liked their buttons about 10 years ago or so, but at least they still keep a little bit of fun and luck in Black Friday for us shoppers
  9. New items are EXTREMELY underwhelming, unless you really want a scooter
  10. Does anyone know if Walmart allows you to order online for these sales and choose the "deliver to store" option?
  11. The early start times around early evening on Thanksgiving (now they are even earlier), makes you miss the better deals since really can't bail out on family in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner.
  12. Upgraded our Iphones one year (didn't even have to trade them in) at Target one year for it was either $350 or $500 gift cards each, helped cover Christmas bill for most of the rest of our shopping that year. Think that was the year I got my wife a Dyson vacuum (which was also a significant sale Black Friday that year at Target) due to the extra $ to spend.
  13. Trick or Treaters keep reducing in volume each year, odd since we are in a townhouse community which you think kids and parents would love to limit walking
  14. My wife's desktop computer is painfully slow, not a huge budget, but wondering if can get a half decent laptop (could connect it to larger monitors on her desk) on Black Friday for someone who mainly is just uses it for web browsing and documents. She's not a big game player. Also thinking of upgrading my 42 inch tv to a 50 or 55.
  15. My son is graduating high school, so this might be our last Christmas feeling like we have a kid (though I guess 18 is a bit old to call him a kid). He is big into WWE Wrestling and WWE has a "Holiday tour" coming to an arena near my house, so bought tickets to that for him a couple months ago. He has an Xbox with the monthly subscription for their games, so that knocks games off the list. Otherwise he is into bowling and pokemon card playing online. Sort of limited genre of interests to choose gifts from. He did just get his driver's license 2 months ago, doesn't have his own car (and that's not an option for Christmas lol), any suggestions you think a new driver might like for Christmas gifts associated with driving/cars?
  16. This is my favorite Christmas drink, it's a modified White Russian 3 oz vodka 1 oz Kahlua 2 oz Maraschino Cherry Juice The Maraschino Cherry juice is the unique ingredient, it adds a festive red color blending with the Kahlua and a touch of holiday sweetness
  17. Went to JCPenny's, gave them feedback about their cashiers not waiting on customers in line and I didn't get my contest code. They called me a liar even though clearly shown on their camera, oh well, won't be going back
  18. Looking forward to seeing who won, will improve someone's Christmas on here
  19. $4.50 for paper and it was junk, Macy's was biggest ad. NOthing from Target, Walmart, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc
  20. People are saying how Black Friday is over, wait till you see what this has done to Cyber Monday, that is truly dead!
  21. Honestly, the people you should be mad at are the ones that tried to scam the system in the past. It sucks that a store is doing this to their customers, but it sounds like they were the victims first and are now trying to protect themselves from the abusers. Before sites like this almost everyone waited until Thanksgiving to view the ads, honestly I doubt it costs them much in sales. They may not be anxious to sell their loss leaders this year because the volume of other sales won't make up for it, with anticipated volume from most of their customers being lower.
  22. Looks like showers with low of 38 for Thursday night here
  23. Ganestop and Best Buy hoping for decent priceslike they have sometimes on new released for BF
  24. My issue in the past with Black Friday was that it fed the scalpers too much. One of the things I actually liked, but most didn't was the "buttons" that JCPenny did about 4 or 5 years ago. Thiey honestly seem to be the only one to be trying for the "fun and suprises" side of Black Friday and holiday shopping. They are giving out a lot of small to medium prizes this year, making everyone think they "have a shot", and for those that like contests like I do, it could increase the shopping done at JCP.
