Thanks for adding the links Ross. The Compaq is a steal IMO, and the Toshiba isn't bad either with just needing a upgrade in RAM to make a decent little machine.
I wouldn't advise calling your local store for those of you thinking of doing it. Ross, Ill check your stores tomorrow for you.

Circuit City has 2 clearance laptops on sale. They are both $499 with a $100 mail in rebate. If you can get your hands on a 10% off coupon, that knocks another 50 bucks off.

I don't think you'll be able to find something that will be able to handle 240 out of the box sold here in the US. You might be able to find something on a European electronics website and buy from them.

I returned my unopened Nintendo DS to target the other day...no questions asked. She just gave me a credit. I got in on the $99 deal a few weeks ago so returned the one I orignally bought a month ago. No restocking fee.
Unopened being the key word there. No one charges a restocking fee for unopened merchandise.

I went in to a local CC last night and at first they didn't even know about the free smart tip and it wouldn't scan as a package deal. Finally located it in the store ad but it clearly says the free tip is 20047 which is the compaq/hp tip. I need 20050, the dell tip but they wouldn't let me have it
Is there another add or promo somewhere that says any tip? Or do I have to go back in a couple of days and try doing an exchange without my receipt?
Does it say valid for 20047 only? Darn! I didn't even notice that before...Ill have to go re-read the ad.

Awesome deal, I went to CC yesterday and bought one. The manager helped me and he couldn't believe it because it wasn't posted. He scanned it and it rang up 17.99 and he said he's getting one too. I called my friends to tell them about it.
Nice grap, that is why I advise to just go in and look for yourself. If you call ahead of time, an employee or manager might snag the last one.

If you call, there is a chance that if the store has it they won't let you buy it. They lose money on each one and/or an employee might buy it when he/she sees the price.
Cathy, you can still get the rebate. If there was no UPC barcode with the open box, use the little Circuit City "Open Box" print out that comes with it as your proof of purchase along with the receipt. This won't work for a manufacture's rebate, but the $100 is from CC.
