I was just commenting on that today to a friend. I think its because stores know they are going to sell a large volume without trying the few days up to christmas, so they dont add as much to clearance at that time (also manpower may be used to do other things at this time as well). Oh well, I guess bargain hunters have to wait until the new year now!
