  1. Dollar General ad is posted on their website if anyone was looking for it. Some phone deals for prepaid phones! Good toy sale. And quite a bit, where the bulk of my spending will be this weekend

  2. My list for tomorrow is currently men's jeans assuming DH says they are the right kind, boys boxers in the next size up for my oldest, a Squishmallow, maybe a Melissa and Doug puzzle? And maybe pillows since I finally found the $5 Serta pillows. And maybe socks for myself, I need new ones but I've never bought Reebok and I'm very picky.

I saved the diaper wipes I need to order so I'll have enough for free shipping. Unless I do the maybes I'd be under free shipping and that's unusual for me. Usually Walmart is my big spending spot but this year it's looking like Dollar General and Amazon are.

When the sales started in the middle of the night, and people had their littles out in that mess, I used to get so angry.

I guess, for me, the biggest dislike is when store employees don't know what's going on or where things are located.

We took my niece one of the first years we went and she was maybe 2? 4am opening and my sister had to be at work at 6am so my mom and I were taking her home with us. I was on runner duty because my mom parked that baby in the cart on top of our coats and she took a wonderful nap. I'd go get things off the list and bring them to her then repeat.

That's the only time we've taken a kid and I think if you HAVE to bring one that's the way to do it. But getting mad at clearly overtired kids isn't okay and I definitely side eyed the people bringing babies into the hotspots that could get a little rough like the towels, movies, the it toy. No deal is worth a baby getting hit on accident!

  4. I hate not having paper ads anymore. I can't even get a newspaper in my little town anymore but last time I did there were only like 4 ads.

I hate how drawn out it all is now. I miss getting up at 2 am(or the one year I pulled an all nighter because I got a new book and finished it 15 minutes before we needed to get up to go shopping 🤣) being at Walmart at 4am, then hitting Walgreens (B1G2 candles and wrapping paper deals) Dollar General and usually home. It was fun! I enjoy online shopping but it's not the same as going out with my mom and sister and getting giggly/punchy because we're tired and eating at Taco Bell because it's the only place open that has Pepsi.

  5. All the DVDs, back when they were still really popular and better selection. I was the teenager of our family's shoppers so I was prepped with a list and usually tried to get as close as possible to the Big Bang Theory sets because we always got my mom the newest season and it'd be $9.99? Instead of $30+ and at the show's heyday, those always went fast! Then they'd open the pallets and it was crazy but fun!

And the year of the Hatchimals 😂 Limit 1 per person and my sister had two little girls who NEEDED them. She waited by the pallet with her MIL and they both got one but then we had to bury them in the cart because people kept trying to swipe them! Only thing we've ever had to do that for.

I miss the drama o er cheap Walmart towels too. The first few years I went there was always a fight/crazy over those so my mom wouldn't let me go near the towels because she didn't want me damaged! By the time I was grown, they stationed a police officer there to watch and that cooled it down considerably

  6. Usually Dollar General in store on Thanksgiving Day, Walmart in store or online, Amazon.

Favorite place to shop for Thanksgiving/Black Friday anymore would be DG. Walmart just doesn't have the atmosphere anymore and there is something fun about being at DG when the doors open and running straight to either toys or whatever else was awesome 😂 As long as they do the usual toy sale I have a list of stocking stuffers to get! Mickey Mouse, they carry Melissa and Doug toys now! Squishy animals, Hot wheels.

I have two Dollar General stores I usually go to, will need to check and see which has more of the toys I'm after in the next few weeks...

  7. Did anyone else experience short lines and not a lot of people in the stores BF morning? Mendards had half the people it usually does, I was in and out in 20 minutes, and had no checkout line. Then I went to Meijer and drove past a not even half filled Best Buy parking lot, and there was barely anyone at Meijer. I went to Joanne Fabrics and normally wait an hour in the fabric cuttling line, and there was 1 person in line in front of me. I actually went there twice and there were no lines either time. I went to 5 Below and there was barely anyone in there, and I have waited in a line before to get in there BF morning. Every store I drove past had half-full parking lots. Kohls you normally have to park in the overflow lot, and I parked near the doors.

I only went to Dollar General on Thanksgiving but what I noticed mostly people were there for last minute things for dinner or sick people, not the deals. The line was it's usual ridiculous ness but that's a DG thing with only one register/employee working.

Between everything being available online, the spread out sales, and inflation I think it hit the in person shopping hard. I haven't heard anyone who really ran into long lines aside from the one who went to the outlets and my sister at Bath and Body Works.

  8. Just took a stroll through the local hometown Walmart here and I would have to say that BF was an overall failure here. I’ve never seen so much leftover items…….3 huge shipping boxes of the $6 Serta bed pillows not even opened and the one that was open was still half full. Lots of TV’s left, tons of Pioneer Woman knife sets, tons of Rubbermaid storage containers, lots of towels, and on and on.

Hmm, might be good clearance then?

  9. Ordered one book on Amazon that had a 45% price drop. Been watching it for almost a year and it's not dipped under $10 before so jumped on it.

And that's it. I browsed Amazon but even the toys that were on sale my kids would like, weren't enough of a discount to buy/store til birthdays. No diaper deals aside from Mama Bear which my first two were allergic to so not buying for new baby.

  10. Staying home. I was toying with a morning trip to the pallet store that is supposed to have an insane amount of toys but sick toddler and I don't like being gone that long when a kid is sick. Browse Amazon for diaper deals (I need 1s and 5s/6s if anyone stumbles on something awesome,
  11. Mainly because toddler is sick and we're about out of Tylenol (note, I got the second to last bottle, apparently it's the new door buster and has been selling like crazy today) I went to Dollar General.

    3 bags of Reese's/Rolos B2G1 Free

    2/$2.50 Pepsi/Schweppes Ginger Ale

    Children's Tylenol ($1.50 coupon)

    Sprite

Jingle Bells (thought those were supposed to be on sale but didn't ring up that way and I wasn't arguing over 50 cents)

    And pregnant lady chip craving.

Unless something awesome pops up on Amazon, I'm done. Not going out tomorrow with a sick kid at home who just wants his momma and cuddles.

  12. Not a fan. It could have had benefits like spreading out the spending, but the implementation was crazy enough I feel like it was easy to miss things, like if I hadn't been on here totally would have missed the first Walmart sale with kids stuff.

  13. So far nada. I need to order Rubbermaid containers from Walmart if I'm going to mess with it at all but really not feeling the spread out sales. I did get kid clothes the first week of sales from Walmart.

This year feels so weird.... I was debating Bath and Body Works on Friday but after a minor heart attack from price checking online, not doing that. $15 a bottle!?! Officially on the rare treat list now, even with coupons ☹️ Probably not going out at all unless it's a Pepsi run at DG.

  14. I'm done! Waiting for a Shutterfly order to arrive then I can knock out wrapping the last few orders that arrived. The farm store actually did a pop up toy sale last week so I even got ODS's Santa present for $23! He found the same set on Amazon and showed me (very excited about it so yes!) It's $42 on Amazon! Love finding deals, and it was local!
