    went down a rabbit hole on Amazon earlier with this type of thing after seeing “wtf notebooks” advertised on Facebook. I definitely want all of these, LOL! I’ll probs buy it and use it as coworkers gifts and also maybe stocking stuffers!

    One of my first years scouring over BF ads was, I’m gonna say, 2011?? Maybe 2010, can’t exactly remember. Anyway, I saw that there were going to be $5 kitchen appliances at Target and as a young, poor millennial I was like YES!!!

     

    so I waited in line at midnight for a 2:00 am open and bolted for the $5 appliances. I picked out a hand mixer - so proud of myself! And of course no one was making a beeline for the $5 appliances, but I was like, SCORE!

     

    Fast forward 13 years - and while a LOT has happened in those 13 years, I still have the hand mixer. I used it to bake cupcakes for my toddler’s 3rd birthday. My MIL uses it when she comes to visit to make delicious mashed potatoes. Who knew a $5 BF hand mixer would bring so many years of joy?

     

    a silly thing, really, but a core BF memory for the ages! 🤓🤓🤓

    40-50 mph winds supposed to pick up here today too. I work in Entertainment for a large theme park so will probably be on venue damage watch today and tomorrow. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]

    Hi all! Checking in for December!

     

    I kinda hope that next year there are some more traditional Black Friday sales, and less of the multiple weeks of sales. I researched the prices of a toy I wanted to buy for my 2.5 year old for what seems like weeks, got it at Macy’s for about $15 less than everyone else, and the next day it was like $22 less on Amazon. Can’t win!!

    With so many stores doing weekly or pre-BF sales I'm not surprised that the big ads we usually see by now are not out... I don't like it, but the reality is retailers want to drive sales on as many items as they can (to get you into the store or onto the website) before they give "deeper discounts"... Let's be honest, most people are out and about and would go back to one sale on actual BF into the weekend and then Cyber Monday. Target, for one, is busy every weekend and maybe they don't want to go back to the overwhelming crowds they had pre-Covid so they keep the weekly sales going...

    I like that I was able to get some things already but I also loved the thrill of going to stores on Thanksgiving evening and Black Friday! I feel like I have nothing to go for this year. Probably will go to the mall with my sisters-in-law to hit some clothing retailers and maybe Target but idk…doesn’t feel the same.

    How is your job handled on Black Friday?

    I was a teacher for 8 years, but left at the end of the 21-22 school year for a job at a major theme park. I am blessed to be full time and have a fantastic manager so I have Wednesday through Friday off! On our FT team we all worked together to get everyone the days off they needed, so I am not working Xmas day either; but I am working Christmas Eve. Which is fine because we are set up for our major Christmas event and it is BEAUTIFUL!

    This is what frustrates me about the multiple sales. It was much easier knowing there was one sale and you didn’t have to keep track of these things on sale at this time, these things on sale at this other time, etc.

    Nintendo Switch - BF or Zelda Release?

    I would yes. If Zelda is the only game you want. They will for sure release a special edition if nothing else by then. It'll probably cost $50 more but it'll come with the game. I'd pre order as soon as they come available. Otherwise you'll have to deal with scalpers and pay several hundred more to get one.
