If you are saying Emachines are a good values. I have to agree. For the money. They are probably the best buy for the buck. Funny how Emachines are owned by Gateway which are owned by Acer, and I think Acer makes some of the worst (reliability) laptops available. Go figure!

Surprisingly the $200 Emachine from last year plays WOW just as good as my other sons E8300 dual core processor does, and it cost me $1600. The biggest difference you will see is if he also wants to play computer games like COD 4 and Assassins creed among others. It’s not a graphics intense machine. The 17-inch dual core laptop should be your best bet for your son going to college. He will probably need the dual core processor later on for some of his classes. Some programs are now requiring it. You don’t want him to have to upgrade his computer while he is in school. The 14 yr old just depends. He probably will not be required to need a dual processor or better If he is just surfing the web and only playing WOW then the $200 dollar should work fine. I would recommend the lower price one for him and see how he does. You could always get him a better computer later when he gets older say 4yrs from now when he decides to go to college. All kids are different. My oldest (18) only plays WOW and searches youtube on his, while my 9yr old try’s to play every video game on the market that is including Facebook, Hulu (for cartoons) you name it. Who would have thought my 9yr old would blow my oldest out of the water when it comes to computer use and he he is the one that plays every sport the county offers. 18 year old just hangs around with nothing better to do. I just recommend to get the computer that fits his or her needs.

Actually, EMachine was bought by Gateway. That is correct. What you didn't say is Gateway was later bought by Acer. I also bought the Emachine 199 special from last year and it works flawless. My first Acer I bought a few years broke in less than a year. Haven't heard anyone complain about the 199 Emachine laptop. Not a world beater but works great for my 9and 14 yr old.

Yes some things are the same every year, but doesn't everyone do that! Now last year they had the best price for a cheap 15" laptop $200.00. I bought it for my 8 year old and been happy ever since. Most people were selling the 10" for what I payed for this laptop. They had 23 of them in stock. I've been to BB, Circuit City and other stores thru the years, and items like that they would only have 3 to 10 in stock for Black Friday. Not all deals are great. Who would have thought! You look thru the adds from every store to find the best deal for you. If you don't like Walmart then stand in line at BB on Thursday. It starts around noon and has about 100 by 6pm here. I went to Walmart at 9pm and guess what. First in line. I used to work for Walmart in there electronics dept for two years and yes every time I step in the store I'm very critical of everything. Just remember when you pay $25.00 dollars for example a vacuum and it doesn't work as good as say a Dyson. Stop compaining. You knew it never would. You bought it because it was a good price.

Is this the full add??? I didn't see anything for black friday only. The adds said Friday thru Saturday. I thought they did have sales Friday morning till noon like most every one else.

I still think the ads will nearly be the same except in some area's. LCD Tv's and mobile devices will see big sales drop this BF. Some area's like toys and housewares will always stay high. BB has put out some not so good adds the past few years, but I suspect they will have at least one or two really good sale items this year. I was at Walmart last year for the $200.00 15inch laptop and thought that was a great deal for my 9yr. old. BB and other stores will try to at least match it this year. The doors slowly opening. Arrived at Walmart at 9pm and was first in line in the store. BB had over 100 by 6pm here, and everyone had to wait outside. Walmart had their BF done right this time. lets hope they keep up the good work. Go Walmart!

I have to say I've seen it all too. At one store there was a fight. I don't know what about just that they were falling into people. One lady was pushed so hard against the counter at the electronics dept that she passed out. Paramedics and police officers had to climb over the back of the counter to get to her. The crowd wouldn't let them in. All those customers cared about was themselves. My mother inlaw even had someone try to grab a GB advance out of here hand while she was standing in line to pay for it a few years back. I wasn't there then help her out. Must say though I have started to go to another Walmart near my area and am pleasantly suprised. The crowd was mostly gone by 8:30 and almost every item on black friday was still there, The portable DVD player was still available thru the whole week. and the price was still honored until they sold out. I will be there again this year. There are 6 Walmarts within 25 miles of my house so that really helps. All the fights and people passing out all happened at one particular store. The part I like best is no layaway. Alot if not most of the people would grab it and put into layaway in the years past. Without it the crowd was smaller and buying what they wanted and not just grabbing eveything in sight. My wife and me do black friday every year and this year will be no different. I will be at one store and she will be at another. Thank you grandma for watching those kids for me!

Jason this is not the same one you bought a while ago. It says on the box it will take 4X,8X and 16X. Mine works fine though. Do I expect to to last a long time no, but if I can get two years out of it then great. The shows I recorded on the DVD-R disks also work with my Toshiba player, but there are a lot of different players out there and I'm pretty sure it will not work for everyone of them. They still have about 50 at my store now still at 99 dollars.
