  1. I just bought the big Geotrax Christmas train set for $77 + tax. It definitely wasn't on any major sale, but I went there expecting to pay the price I did.. We want to use it for our xmas tree every year for the next 15yrs or so, so it was worth it. What I'm wondering, though, is if Toys R Us price adjusts on things that their customers purchased already (from TRU). Anybody know if they do, and how that works if they do? Wondering if I have a chance to get lucky if it goes cheaper soon:) Or I might rebuy at the cheaper price and use my first receipt to return at the higher price if not. Anybody?
  2. You should probably identify which Kohls rebate you are referring to. The "Kohls Holiday Toys $10 Mail-in Rebate" says postmark by 12-26-2010
  3. I believe I saw last week (no longer available) that Walmart had the Mickey game for $45 which came with a free $10 eGift card, but thats no longer available. However, you could get the Mickey/remote combo for the $40 and give the remote away to someone as a gift. It has a decent value on amazon, so it would make a nice gift for the right person..
  4. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4049878 Toy Story 3 remote car.. The martians one for $14.99
  5. They used to price adjust within 30 days but changed their policy either last year or the one before. I don't think you'll get it adjusted unless you have a customer service rep who doesn't know any better.. so I think the best bet would be to order the cheaper one and when it comes, send back the old one with the old invoice to get your money back.
  6. At Walmart they will be $1.98 for each of the three movies in the series, for a total of $5.94. Are the DVDs in the trilogy more indepth or have special features that the ones at Walmart (for cheaper) have? If yes, that would be a good deal. If not, not so much.
  7. I'm just guessing, but I'm going to say that its because instead of waiting in line and stampeding towards the most covetted electronics, they are handing out wristbands or tickets to the first X amount of people who lined up for it, and then they don't have to wait anymore.. they can shop freely around the store, and then just stop by and pick up your doorbuster electronic item you got a wristband for.. Walmart is doing that, and rumor has it that they will hand out the wristbands around 2am.. for the 5am doorbuster. So if you want one of these type of items, I would get there hours early!
  8. I'm guessing "no", but I thought I should ask anyhow... The $X off specific items coupons that are in the ad which starts the 21st.. Are those good only instore? I didn't see "instore only" on the coupons but they don't seem to have any kind of code to use online. Can someone confirm my suspicion they are only redeemable instore? Thanks in advance:)
  9. I don't know about Kmart since I don't go there on BF (but price match at Walmart if there's something I like in the Kmart ad).. but FYI I did this at Kohl's last year... bought some door-buster items and things that would be on a great sale three days prior to BF, and then strolled into the store in the late morning and went to the customer service area and gave them my receipt to price adjust.. and about a minute later I was walking past the long lines and out the door with a handful of cash:)
  10. I'm not really impressed with ANY store's ads so far (hopefully Walmart, Old Navy and BBW come through). I'm debating not even going out this year- a first in many! LOL

    24 hour WalMarts?

I've done a 24hr Walmart for the last 5yrs. You can enter at any time and start filling your cart with the regular items- which is when I get all my items to be price matched from different store's ads so I don't have to go to fifty million stores LOL. I get that done all while checking out the shrink-wrapped palates that are throughout the store, so I know where I want to be waiting for that 5am frenzy. My store has had an employee stand guard at each palate so that customers can't tear open any part to take one early. And at the stroke of 5am, they cut it open and everybody grabs. I've done Walmart even when I didn't get any of their doorbuster items in shrink wrap. I like that you can enter at 3-4am to do your shopping, and I like that they easily price-match my ads so that I don't have to go to a bunch of stores- it saves me a lot of grief of going to a lot of stores. And if I don't have anything doorbuster to wait on, I'm usually first or second in checkout at 5am and I'm out of there by 5:05am and onto my next travel.. sometimes breakfast before;) Also, my experience is that the cashier won't let you buy Black Friday price matching items until the same time as that store's sale time, not anytime you show them an ad, so thats why I've had to wait until 5am to checkout when I didn't have any doorbuster items.
  12. I totally understand where your coming from.. However, being a parent of two kids who receive gifts from relatives, I would probably suggest you go along the lines of what the kids have thought out and really want. My kids make a wish list every year- of things they would really like to have and would play with for a long time... but our relatives don't even consult the list and they get other stuff, which ends up being stuff the kids either have or don't like or won't play with. Yes, Christmas is about giving and thats the thought that counts. But the lists are there, in my opinion, to help everybody.. the kids will receive things they really wanted and the relative gets the satisfaction of the smiles and happiness created from giving such a wanted gift (which is what a "giver" wants, right?). I feel bad when the item gets pushed aside because the child has it or doesn't want it- kids will be kids, and at that age they really can't hide their disappointment (tact and graciousness is a learned trait kids aren't born with). And when kids get something they've wanted, the giver's money wasn't wasted. If my kids get something they won't play with or didn't like, we regift it or donate it. Not sure thats what you'd have in mind when you buy them something.. maybe picking off their lists would be best. I'm always thankful when people use wish lists or when they offer me one to look through.
  13. You could always buy them gently used from somewhere like GameStop if you don't want to pay retail price.
  14. She sounds petty and self-centered, and there isn't much you can do about that.. sorry to say. I say think out what you want to spend and how you want to say it. Maybe write a nice card to take the edge off the anxiety of an in-person confrontation if your that worried. But I would mention that when you made the agreement, you were both smaller families and it seemed reasonable then. But now that years have passed and her family has grown considerably, you aren't able to afford the same amount. Your situation is more that you can't afford it, but if it were just a "fairness" issue I'd say that if you spend $450 total on her kids, she can spend that same amount on your one kid- just make it $150 in gifts and put the other amount in a college account or something. But yeah, it sounds like you know how she is going to respond even if you have a strong point and a reasonable way of communicating it to her. Just be ready for the crap-storm and how you will deal with it, because it sounds like you know it would be coming:( Sorry you have to deal with this.
  15. I'm not fond of seeing that, and I do every year. Most of them are probably selfish and mental... but in that mix of people who bring their small children, there may be a handfull of them who sincerely have nobody to watch their child that evening/morning (for any of a variety of reasons) but still want to make their dollar stretch a little farther during a time of year where money becomes really thin for those who already have tight budgets. Just an idea.
