  1. Why don't you just give her cash and let her spend it on what she wants? I have seen where people have folded it to make it look like a tree and to personalize it give her a small basket with a few items she likes .... It sounds like you don't care for her so much, so why are worrying so much, just sayin' ...
  2. What about lunch/dinner and movie out together . What if you got take out from a restaurant they like and deliver it to them with a bottle of wine, diet coke (my choice :)) or whatever with dessert and all. I would love any night off of cooking and if I didn't even have to go get it that is even better.
  3. How wonderful, I can only imagine how excited you are. I hope you have a great holiday:) I have three sons and can't imagine not seeing them for so long, however who knows what the future holds as they are getting close to making those decisions uggh......So happy for your family!
  4. My husband and I worked it out, when the kids were little, I went by myself and he stayed with them. Personally I wouldn't have the patience with the crowds and worrying about my kids, etc. Now that they are older, we hit the stores together with no kids as how can you shop for them when they are with you lol. My 12 yo thought about coming this year but then decided not to. I am glad as we only went to Walmart but people were shoving and pushing and it was massive chaos...we went for dvd's mostly and got there 9:45 and were home before 10:30. I did a lot of online shopping this year and if I had really young children that is how I would do it.
  5. Well after a couple hours of frustration, I did manage to get most of what I needed, most importantly the Xbox 360....now let's hope it all ships out. I too did two orders as I did the most important couple things and then figured if I got the dvds and memory cards great! What a process though.......so glad I am done but I feel like I did a whole workout lol :)
  6. wow I didn't get the email from best buy hmmm I am a Silver premier member...would you care to share what items are available tomorrow....I am interestd in the xbox 360, some memory cards, some movies and a couple games...our internet has been in out the last couple days so hope this didn't cause me problems....TIA
  7. I also do baskets with freebies....I get so many shampoos, razors, deodorants, toothpaste and brushes, etc....I just make a basket with what I have and might pick up something small to personalize it. I did a basket with cleaning supplies including toilet paper (something extra for our adopted family as I know welfare doesn't pay for paper products)....I figure everyone uses these items so....could make baskets also with a theme like I found some really nice collanders at Target clearance and did a spaghetti theme last year (parm cheese, sauce, grater, garlic, seasoning, bread, potholders, dishtowel (I lined the collander with this). I even did a cupcake one with a pan, ingredients needed, sprinkles, candles, etc.... I grew up in Amish country too, so I have gone to the cheese factory and made a basket with cheeses, maple candy, etc. I feel with baskets, I can go as crazy as I want, or just a small something...can always add a gift card too.
  8. My neighbor and I called our school and they provided us a family and it was kept anonymous. She gave us a list of the ages and some suggestions of what they might like and sizes and we did our shopping and wrapped everything and dropped it at the school. (we have more than one elementary school so I think she chooses a family in another school than our children attend---our school nurse handles it) It is nice to help out in the community and as well we do some for toys for tots and a domestic shelter.... Have fun with it, it is a great thing to do:-)
  9. Thanks, I had purchased mine that rusted from Kmart a couple of years ago. I can't believe it but after writing to corp. and talking to Kmart, they gave me a gift card for the sets that were rusted which was appreciated. I bought some from Target after Xmas this year for 75% off....I am keeping my fingers crossed, saved my receipt in case! My husband thinks it is because they are not using copper in them and are using steel at least in those sets and with our weather here, that is the problem.
