  2. The carrier is CEVA? I've never had anything shipped by them so I'm not sure how they are. I would suggest calling DELL to see if they had a tracking number and it's not online yet. I know that the person I was working with got the information about a day before it showed up online for me. Of course, the phone call may be a 2 hour ordeal - at least it was for me!! Good luck!!
  3. I agree with you on that. And it doesn't appear to be just this season. When I was doing a search on Dell and delayed shipping, there are other blogs out there that indicate it's happened not only the 2 Christmas seasons before this one, but also in the summers when they have their school specials. Dell is a technology company, they should have the ability to maintain their inventory online and specify their limits and cutoff quantities. I ordered a shirt from a locally owned sports store in Florida and even they had exact statements on their site on what was available by size, and their ordering and tracking was 100% current and up-to-date at all times. Dell should be able to do the same.
  4. firstladyberg: If it says "shipped" then the tracking info should be on there soon. I got the shipped notification with no tracking information and 4 hours later the tracking info was there. That was on Friday and it's out for delivery now. I would check back in a few hours - it's very possible you will get it. When it comes to laptops I will probably always buy Dells, but I was not pleased with their handling of this purchase at all. I ordered on Black Friday and it wasn't until last friday (the 19th) that I even knew if it would get here. To me, that is unacceptable for a company the size of Dell. They changed my ship date several times and I've spent countless hours on the phone with them. Good Luck - don't give up yet though!!
  5. Do we have the option of going and picking it up? Mine says it's at the local Fedex facility and will be delivered today before 3:00. I would rather pick it up!!!
  6. Don't worry - setting is up is fairly straight-forward. It'll prompt you with some basic questions to complete the install (name, etc.). Depending on what type of internet access you have there are questions pertaining to it. I'm not going to set my daughters up at all. She's computer literate though and will enjoy doing her own setup!!
  7. Charges were posted to my account last night - so it's paid for and is in my Fed Ex office here!!! Yeah!!!!!!!
  8. I know - my luck isn't that good either. But mine was pending for 3 days in November and has been back in my account since. I did call after the charge dropped off because I was afraid that my order was cancelled or something, but they said that they would charge at the time it shipped. So I'm sure I'll see it come out soon. At this point I'm just excited that it's actually going to be here in time for Christmas. I'm hoping it'll be delivered over the weekend though instead of the 22nd like it says since it was shipped next day. Monday my daughter will be the only one home to sign for it - and it's for her!! Good luck on yours!!
  9. sheadog - same happened here. It was "pending" for 3 days after Black Friday and then dropped off. My item is showing shipped but money is still in my account. I know I owe it so I'm just sitting on it. I'm sure they'll take it out at some point. Then again, maybe you and I are jackpot winners and we just haven't been notified??
  10. Swampbaby - mine is shipping FedEx too with an scheduled delivery of Monday. It does say "indirect signature required". Hope they come late in the day, otherwise my daughter who is getting it will be there to sign for it :-( Not complaining through since I went 2 weeks thinking I wouldnt get it at all!!!

  12. Swampbaby - mine says shipped too but carrier and tracking information is not available. I'm in the same boat as you - don't want it delivered to the house while I'm at work, especially since my daughter is out of school next week and will be home. At least it does look like we'll receive them though!!!
  13. Apparently the Midnight Blue 1525s are shipping! My status finally says shipped (today) with an estimated delivery date of 12/22. I feel some relief now! I did get an email yesterday that the laptop was through production and was on it's way from Malaysia to the US. I didn't know that these were built overseas. In any case, they are excellent laptops and other than Toshiba or Sony, I wouldn't buy any other brand. I work on them too much for others and know the reliability factor. Good luck to others who are waiting on theirs. At least Dell is starting to come through!
  14. Well, it's good to hear that some are being shipped. My original ship date was the 9th until they changed it to the 29th. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the next few days and maybe it'll come in. Otherwise, I'll have a disappointed daughter on Christmas morning.
  15. Out of curiosity - did any of ya'll that did get your laptop that ordered Black Friday or after order the Midnight Blue color????
  16. By the way, I did complain enough that they changed my shipping to next day. Maybe some of ya'll can get them to do that for you!!
  17. I almost feel like it's deception on the laptop issue. Most companies show "out of stock" or "item not available" once things that are sold out. Dell did have Midnight Blue as the default on Black Friday and it wasn't until after my delayed shipment email (2 weeks later) that they posted it on their website that the color may delay shipping. In fact, they now have that same message for the Pink, Red, and Green. I understand mistakes happen but when the only solution to receiving it on time is to cancel your order and reorder at the CURRENT price and be put in the queue behind everyone else is wrong. The guts of the computer are the same, only the color has changed - seems like it would be simple. Of course, talking to people from other countries doesn't help when you are trying to explain now wanting to disappoint someone on Christmas morning. I had two tell me that "they will understand since they are getting a superior product and it will come". I got an email today that said that manufacturing said my order would be ready to ship out in 2-3 days. So maybe I will get it after all. Website still shows the 9th on one screen and the 29th on the other though.
  18. At least the pink are shipping. I asked it I could switch to Pink but they told me I would have to cancel my original order and do a new one, which would put me at the bottom of the line to receive. Doesn't seem right - but that's the way they work. Of course, it wasn't until the 9th (the original ship date) that I found out they couldn't deliver on the parts. Had I know when I ordered I would've chosen something other than blue. Did they by chance change the shipping information online too? I guess I'm holding out hope that they just haven't updated the information online yet and that it will come in. I'm hoping that there really is a Santa!!
  19. Swampbaby: When you get to the order status screen make sure you click on the order number to get the most accurate information. On the order status screen mine still shows the ship date of 12/9, but when I click on the order number it says 12/29. I was told it was because I ordered blue, but when I asked if I could change colors to get it in on time they said I would have to cancel the original order and place a brand new order, but they still could not guarantee it to ship by Christmas.
  20. I ordered a Dell 1525 - midnight blue on Black Friday. Was told that it would ship on 12/9. That shipping has now been rescheduled for 12/29 and they said it's because of the color I chose. Then told not to cancel the order because parts were expected to be in by the 13th and I would probably get it. But I've been on the phone with Dell for almost 3 hours with no answers!! Did anyone here order a color laptop and have they received it? I'm going through hoops with Dell on this.
