  1. The walmart I went to was "dead". pretty much everything was there. (though i did not get any electronics). The cashiers were all open, A few years ago this walmart had a line out the door just to get in. People must be shopping online.
  2. My dh went to walmart and got towels and clothes. Only thing he could not get was a bike. Got bluray player on wed on target.com. Best deal was the misprice on thurs around 8pm at macys. Got keurig for 60% off instead of 40% off. 149 for 74 shipped.
  3. I was at a Staples outside of Atlanta this morning. Initially, it seemed very organized. The GM and another manager arrived a little after 5AM and gave a quick talk to the line about giving out tickets. About 20 minutes to 6, they came out and began to hand out the tickets explaining that they were good till 11AM, and that there would be a special line to pick up the items. They also said that we should take our time and if we want, we could shop the store for other items. They had a plan, but unfortunately, the plan did not work. The copy center area where the ticketed items were to be picked up only had one register. The line quickly grew, with very little movement. I will give kudos to the general manager. As soon as the lines got reasonable at the other registers, he came over to the ticketed pickup line and began to pull over the non laptop/PC people and send them to the other registers. However, it was then I noticed that the woman who was number one on line that morning and who had been there since 1AM had drifted to last in line for the ticketed items because she had done other shopping. I called the GM over and explained that she was the first customer and she should get special attention. He agreed, and immediately got her rung up. She was thankful, but really, it was the right thing to do.
  4. got monitor online at office max yesterday. Went to walmart around 11. The 12:01 stuff was already opened, so I sent straight to the video games. Then to the toys, then to housewares, stopping by girls clothes before toys. got more than I wanted. Decided on the 23$ vacuum cleaner since mine died. Home before 1. DH got up before 4 and headed to staples/target. Decided target line was too long and was number 6 at staples. AT 5:30 got his ticket for the laptop and went back to target but they ran out of ping pong tables!!! he called me and I ordered the one from SEARS online. not as nice, but oh well. He did get the air mattress and some clothes. Also from Staples got a chair and office, and mice. Note that staples had no good organization when he went back to get his items. Too forever for them to figure it out. Meanwhile At 7:30 took my son to use his Gamestop gift cards. Nothing real special there. Dropped him off at Hockey practice and wetn to walgreens. got my laundry detergent, paper towels, scotch tape, batteries, advil. WEnt to CVS for makeup deal for DD. I had gotten my TV last week, so I was glad to not stand in line for any of them. I would say that my walmart was busy, but not a mob scene. TArget was probably crazier.' Oh Almost forgot, yesterady went to old navy to get stuff there since I am a card holder.
  5. It was not that bad at my walmart. Crowded yes, but spread out. I wanted the video games and some clothes and were able to easily get them. The toys were much more crowded. I showed up after 11 and all that stuff was already out , but not totally mob scene at all. I had my 12yo dd with me to watch the cart as I foudn things.
  6. AM I missing something here. Except for the blue ray player, where are the other deals? Are they every couple hours? the 32 inch TV was the same price last night. Walmart fell flat on this . I guess off to Target then to get a TV.
  7. My walmart had no idea about this. Will this only be online?

  9. The Ad is available in stores now. I dont have have a scanner though.
  10. I had errands to run today so i went to a farther away WM then I usually go to. There was a line at the electronics department and had sold out of the 26" Vizio's by the time I was within 3 people from the cashier. An employee was stating that they might be getting another shipment tonight. No rain checks. I have always been a supporter of WM especially for BF. My usual compliment is that with the exception of door busters that are advertised as limited supply, they normally have a large quantity of their other BF deals. In this case there were no "while supplies last" implications, and I noticed that they let many customers purchase more than one TV. This makes me concerned about how wll they will do on BF.
  11. Target I felt that Targt had taken the last few BF's off, so when the ad was finally posted my wife and I were shocked at how good the sales were. My wife physically went to Target and was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I pursued some online items that allowed her to focus on a few door busters. Only negative was that they ran out of the GPS I ordered and replaced it with an almost identical model that did not have the mexican maps. No a biggie. Hope they do it again this year. FX
  12. Cool...the Black Friday season has begun again. I am a veteran of at least 10 of these things, and can honestly say that this is my wife's favorite day of the year. So, I would like to start a thread on what kind of things we will see this BF (not a wish list but a possibilities list). To get things started... I think we will see an external 1TB hard drive for under $50. Over recent months we have seen the price drop into the $50's, so thats a logical next step. Howabout a 22" LCD computer monitor for $100-$120 (prices have remained steady around $140-150 for the inexpensive monitors). Other areas that this thread could take are... What will be the killer HDTV deal. Will GPS prices stay flat compared to last BF or go down. A Netbook under $200? After basically sitting out the last 4-5 BF's, last year Target was a major player (actually having some of the best deals around). Will that continue this year? There were some strong sales 1-2 weeks before BF in 09. Will that hold true again, or could the deals get even better in early November. I was able to get 100% of my list online last year with the only negatives being waiting for the items to ship and Target having to switch out an item. Will retailers continue to offer the same BF deals online. Will there be better cooperation between retailers and BF websites or will it continue to to be hostile. OK, take this thread where you want to...lets have some fun. FX
  13. I saw it at our Walmart. Did not want it though.
  14. After doing all MY shopping online (see previous post), my wife decided that I needed to take may son to Best Buy. His birthday was in October and he had gotten a $50 gift card. He believed that the best bang for his buck was on BF, so he patiently waited till today to buy some DS games. We went to the Alpharetta, Georgia BB and got there around 11. Took an extra lap to find parking. The store was crowded and I could see a long line to check out. I also noticed some 32" Dynex HDTV's left. Of course my son picked out 2 games that were not on sale (he will learn, he will learn). When we got on the check out line there was likely 50+ people ahead of us, but within 5 minutes we had paid up. I then toured the store to see what was left. The Dynex's were not popular. They must have still had 30+ left of the 32", 20+ left of the 40", and 30+ left of the 19". They had about 35 Compaq Netbooks left over. About 10 E Machines desktops, and about 10 Canon Pixma's. I spoke to one of the workers who said he thought the crowd was lighter than the past few years. He said the initial line had only stretched down to the Staples (about 100 yards). I've seen the BB line stretch past the Staples by 5AM, in years past. FX
  15. I will admit that I did not have any great and urgent wants/needs this BF, but in my family we have always tried to enjoy these sales. We hit gottadeal.com the day that they opened the Black Friday 2009 web pages, and went back each and every day till today. So as the ads became available, I developed a list of possibilities with none grading higher than a B+. My biggest quandary this year was to decide if I should build a Media PC, but the availability of Blu-Ray players with network streaming pushed that to a back burner. I saw that BB would have several options for Blu-Rays on BF, but I cringed because that store always has the longest lines. Luckily, they had a one day sale last week on the LG BD270 for $124. I had it set up the weekend before BF and was happily YouTubing. My other big wish was to correct a previous BF mistake from two years ago and get a replacement GPS for my Navigon 2100 (it just did a lousy job with POI’s, always had to put in exact addresses). Top of my list was the Tom Tom XL340S at Target, but I could not tell if that was a doorbuster or not. That unit became available online for the BF price on Thanksgiving day. When I told my wife I had now knocked off my two biggest BF items, she replied “You’re taking all the fun out of Black Friday.” I really wanted those $10 Harry Potter Blu-Rays at Walmart but I know not to trust the mobs the store draws. So when Amazon matched it, I immediately ordered my favorite (Order of the Phoenix) and pre-ordered Half Blood Prince to get the free shipping. So now I was left with just a handful of smaller items, none really worthy of standing online in the cold for. But the biggest one left, the two handset Panasonic cordless phone at Office Depot I again could not tell if it would be a doorbuster or not. The webpage details kept saying “In Store Only”…until this morning. I was unable to order it at the BF price when I tried at 5AM, but at 6 it became available. I added a 16GB flash card, a 4GB SDHC card and a webcam, qualified for free shipping, and suddenly I was done with BF. Anyone else with similar experiences? FX
  16. FYI The Target Tom Tom 340S is now available online with free shipping.
  17. Me Too!!! At first, I could not find the Tom Tom when I went to their BF list. I looked in Electronics, and I also looked for items $50-100. But I then just did a regular site search for the Tom Tom and saw it was listed as a "Add to Cart to see price". When I did, I saw that the online price matched the BF priced with free shipping. This was one of only two doorbuster items I wanted this BF, so I'm half way done. FX
  18. I realize the list does not have the little sunrise icon, but i wanted to make sure. This appears to be the only 'possibly' hot item that I want from Target. It really is a pretty good deal. Amazon just came out with the Tom Tom 340 (without the S- Speech to text which my bride says is very important) for the same price. In the meantime, Radio Shack and Pep Boys have the 330S. Walmart has the 325S (which I think is an exclusive to Walmart version of the 330S). All within a few bucks of the same price. I would love to have the 340S, but do not want to have to brave the initial Target line if I do not have to. And if it hasn't been said yet, I am very impressed with how Target is doing BF this year. I am a veteran of the last 8-10 BF's and usually I ignore Target because the deals are just routine. This year they decided to join the fun. A+ Target. My only real concern is that the Target line will be that much bigger this year and the store managers may not know how to handle it. FX
  19. I took advantage of the sale price at BB (which I believe was $124 not $129). Choose store pickup. Connected it on Saturday. Took 90 seconds to hook up Netflix. Watched "Cadillac Records". Then went YouTubing. Very pleased. I am waiting on a HDMI switch so I can go back and forth between the Blu-Ray and my Sattelite box. Therefore, it is currently connected by component connections, not HDMI. So far, very happy. FX
  20. Is this device a door buster? Do you think it will be available for that price online? There is no way for me to get to Best Buy before 8AM. Do you think I have a chance? FX Best guess - It is not a doorbuster, it will likely be available online, and it has a 50/50 shot at still being available when I get to the store.
  21. My DD, who will be 11 in Dec, has gone out the last 2 years, but not initially. I do the crazy 4am thing, and then take her with me, aka I pick her up around 7/8 am. I dont tend to go to the real crazy places though either. This year we have someone who has offered to keep our kids and we are greatful, but DD still wants to go out. I told her I will get her around 7 again and then we can do our thing. If I did not have anyone helping, at 9 and 11 years old, here in GA, I would consider taking them out. As young children/toddlers I would have never done it. Thats just me.
  22. 1- Desktop PC that can be converted or already is a Media computer (connect to 50" DLP) 2- DSLR Digital camera 3- GPS to replace the dissapointing Navigon 4- Wii Games 5- Maybe a laptop
  23. A long time ago I had an issue with something that was broken (VCR/DVD player) and could not get a hold of them to help me. I ended up having to dispute the charges on the credit card. So since then I boycotted them. Finding their phone number was almost impossible. Though this all might have changed over the years. sandy
  24. not sure if I should go for the laptop or not, but it looks like since OD is down the street, we have decided to get printers and the monitor there.
  25. My wife and I were visting her parents in S. Florida last Thanksgiving and the KMart was only 10 minutes away. We got there and hour before the doors opened and were 2nd and 3rd on line. We got the Olevia 32" which has been fantastic, and we also got a Wii. This year we're spending T-day in Georgia, and the nearest KMart is 35 minutes away. But we'll be checking Gotta Deal, and if there's anything interesting, I'm sure we'll be heading that way.
