  1. The replaceable battery is a huge consideration for me. It's probably one of my biggest hangup on not having gotten a Kindle already.

Also, what's the deal with the extended warranties? Are these things so fragile or failure-prone that they are going to have trouble in year 2?

I purchased the extended warranty because it is pricey and the warranty gives me accident coverage. If I drop it and break it or my boyfriend sits on it, or any number of other things, it is covered.

As for the replaceable battery, the only time this would be an issue is if yours dies. It does happen but not very often so why let that guide you? Most electronics have small issues on them but the issue does not occur all that often to totally disregard the item

  2. I did a lot of comparision before I got the Kindle. Amazon has a few free books everyday available and I usually download at least 2 a week (what a savings). I like the Kindle size and feel and after reading it in sunlight I found it was great. I had no problems with glare and the battery life is great as well. I ordered the 3rd generation just because I had waited a week too long to get the 2nd generation. You will definitely want a cover to protect it and you may want to look at the extended warranty through either Amazon or Square Trade as they both cover accidents if you have small kids or are just clumsy like me. Best Buy has both the Kindle and Nook in store so you can test to see which you like the feel of better (remember you will be holding it to read so it should be comfortable). If you study, there are nice features to mark text in the Kindle.
  3. The deals haven't been there. If I didn't have to run the site on BF, I still wouldn't have gone out early for any of the deals. The deals available online the weeks leading up to BF (and the weeks after BF) have been great without the hassle.

Especially when you have Amazon matching many of the top B&M BF deals, there becomes less of a reason to go out except for the "tradition" of being out with the crowds.

    I agree!
