It depends on what your kids want to use it for. Ipods are good for music, videos, etc. If they want to surf the web and play games, you would want the Ipad.

Bring water and snacks comfortable shoes (not the time to be fashionable) If in a group use a cart as a central location for everyone to gather and drop off finds otherwise go without cart unless you need some big items Take a list of what you want to get at each store as well as the ads. Cell phone to contact family and friends Chair and blanket if you plan to arrive really early(reading material or talk to others in line) Scout stores before BF Get the items on your list and get on to the next store (not a day to browse) Go with a fun attitude - you never know who you will run into or talk to that day. It is a game and although you play to win, no one needs to get injured

Do a version of the yellow brick road into the party place. Have bubble floating around with an auto bubble blower Maybe some scarecrows from you local craft store (michaels, joanns etc)
