I'm a night shift nurse too....Ugh! The holiday's are so hard. Thanksgiving, Christimas Eve, Christmas... I luckily work with a lot of people who don't have kids, or whose kids are grown, which allows me to take Christmas and Christmas Eve off. Maybe, like the other poster said, you can do 1/2 a shift. I know a lot of people at my work do that! I hope you find a way to work it out though, because I know after years of working holidays, I am beginning to get bitter!
