  1. Does anyone know what time Best Buy begins the online BF sale tomorrow evening?
  2. Does anyone know what time BB usually starts their early access online BF sales for elite members the day before black Friday?
  3. Hope everyone got what they were looking for after last night's online crash. Just curious, what did everyone purchase? I bought the 50 inch Vizio for my daughter. Seems like that was the best deal on televisions in all the ads that I have have seen so far.
  4. This is the downside of online BF sales, sites crashing. I barely squeezed my order (only 1 thing) thru before the site went down. One would think that the merchant's technology would be up to speed since they are the ones pushing more towards online purchases.
  5. Any word if there will be any bf webcasts this year? Always good info and gets you in the bf shopping mood.
  6. I would highly recommend the Epson 5040ub. Outstanding picture quality with pixel shifting technology. Motorized lens shift. The price may be lowered on BF because a newer model has come out. I have it set up in a 500 sq ft theater and I am very anal when it comes to picture quality. When I first set it up my wife repeatedly commented on it's picture quality and she never pays attention to that kind of stuff. There are probably other good projectors but I can vouch for this one. Here is some info: https://www.projectorcentral.com/epson-5040ub-review.htm
  7. Does anyone know when the law requiring taxes on all online purchases goes into affect? Just wondering if it will be in effect BF. I have a couple of electronics dealers and a hobby shop that I usually make purchases from on BF.
  8. One store off the BF list here in Texas is the Palais Royal store. The store suffered in sales and is liquidating all it's merchandise. However they were bought by Goodman's ?? This used to be our first stop every BF(wife always bought a pair of boots) and we enjoyed the $10.00 coupons and door prizes given each year. We used to see the same people every year in line because the employees did a good job making the hour before opening a festive atmosphere. Today the store sold everything left for $4.99 each so the wife and I just scored a bunch of clothes today to make up for the BF that we will miss there.
  9. Just noticed that the Wal-Mart here unloaded some of their shipping containers where most of their BF and Xmas merchandise is stored every year. It's almost BF time.
  10. Agree with you jaymacfla. Wife and I have been BF shopping for well over 25 years and we do miss the days of preparing, waiting, and scoring the deals even on the holiday. However we have changed with the times and shop online as much as possible in addition to catching deals all year long. I have always said that the merchants should consider online deals only on the Thanksgiving holiday to allow most of their workers to enjoy the holiday while still making money. We still go out and get a few things that may not be offered or out of stock online. That being said we still get excited when BF is approaching. We enjoy these forums, webcasts and everything else that goes along with BF. Only our method of buying has changed.
  11. Sears had 32 inch Seki televisions (60 hz 720p) for $97.00. Purchased 2 online when the sale started. Got a call from the mgr. the next day offering me two 39 inch Seki televisions (120 hz 1080p) at the same price because they ran out of the 32 inch televisions and a couple of customers turned down the larger televisions because they wanted the smaller ones. After saying "yes" I couldn't get to Sears fast enough. The young man who loaded the televisions said in a long slow tone "I heard you got a reeeeeeeal good deal on these tvs!" Later looked at the regular price for these televisions and they were over $400 then. Both are still working very well.
  12. Got everything on my list as well including the boots that my wife really wanted. Another store scratched off the list. Everyone should give a big thanks to the Gottadeal staff !!
  13. Sams will have the Vizio 5.1 wireless soundbar for $199.00
  14. With the exception of Walmart where there is no order, I would suggest that each person get a basket (if possible) prior to getting in line and place the basket on the outside of where you are standing or sitting in line. As the next person comes up tell them to do the same. You would then have a solid line of baskets which puts a makeshift barrier between shoppers and line cutters. Target does this at the front of the line about 30 minutes before opening and it works pretty good. Nothing is full proof but it has been pretty effective twice during my BF shopping at Target.
  15. Bought two of the 32 inch Seki televisions online from Sears for $97.00 each. The next day a manager called me and said they no longer had any 32 inch televisions but they would substitute two 39 inch Seki televisions for the same price. My first response was "Are you serious?" The manager had advised me that 2 people had previously turned down the offer because those televisions were too big??? I rushed to pick them up and realized that both were 1080P Seki tvs vs the 720p 32 inch tvs advertised. The man who loaded my car said in a slow voice "I heard you got a reeeeeel good deal on these tvs." Both televisions have been working very well. Have got some good deals on BF but this is by far the best one to date. Love BF.
  16. TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! The merchants are asking for trouble. The earlier times are inviting more troublemakers who could care less about saving money. I have shopped on BF for more than 20 years. I simply don't understand what is up with the retailers. If they want to increase sales and revenue, stock up on more merchandise! Every BF that I have participated in, the majority of merchants ALWAYS RUN OUT OF DOORBUSTERS! Demand is not the issue IT IS SUPPLY! So we now have earlier times and guess what? They will RUN OUT OF MERCHANDISE AT THE EARLIER TIMES ALSO! GO FIGURE! The only difference is that every knuclehead that would not be out during the 5am times will be there similiar to the knucleheads that cause trouble at the malls on the weekends. For someone such as myself that taught safety training for my employer, I am bothered about the potential problems. This year my wife and I have already purchased most of our stuff online (since we are smarter about the pre-BF online deals thanks to sites like this one). We will try and get a few more things online and maybe go to a few stores afterwards for some of the less popular stuff and head home. In addition, my relatives live an hour and a half away so it is almost an eat and leave if we want to get back for BF shopping. I think more of the diehard BF shoppers in the future will be buying earlier to avoid the potentially chaotic events that are being set up by the earlier times for BF or let's now call it black Thursday. DONT LIKE IT!
  17. If this is your 1st time BF shopping I would recommend avoiding Walmart at opening. It is mass chaos in that store. I know a number of people who have gone to Walmart for their first BF and they have never shopped again on BF because of the experience which is not representative of BF shopping at all stores. I would suggest trying to find some of your Walmart items online or go by there after you have shopped at your other stores to see what is left. BF shopping is a fun and rewarding expierence if you can avoid the chaotic situations. Lastly, go to youtube and enter Walmart black Friday. You will see examples of the chaos that occurs in that store year after year. Good luck and I hope you have an enjoyable BF experience.
  18. Don't like the early times. BF has always been the one time of the year when you get a lot more for your hard earned dollar. The average BF person shops for that reason alone. However with the earlier times, the stores are inviting folks who come to just "hang out" similar to what happens when you go to the mall during the later part of the day. Some of these folks are still under the influence coming straight from their holiday celebrations. I remember last year having to try and go around people who were just hanging around the mall at 2am because it was just a place to hang out. When the stores opened at the later times, the crowds consisted of a majority die hard BF shoppers who were there with purpose of doing some hard core shopping. I think these earlier times are inviting trouble. We are buying as much we can online so we don't have to be out as long with the extra people "hanging out" and causing trouble resulting from the earlier times.
