  1. Scrooged! The Year without a Santa Claus (Rankin and Bass) Santa Claus is Coming to Town (put one foot in front of the other!) Miracle on 34th Street (John Hughes version)- I love the set decoration and the costumes, love the Santa suit and love, love Santa in this one!! The Holiday (I actually like Jack Black in this movie, I usually don't except for Kung Fu Panda) and I LOVE the soundtrack Holiday Inn The Little Drummer Boy Nester the Long Eared Donkey ( makes me bawl like a baby every. single. time.) Christmas Do Over Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds- I laugh so hard at this one, I just cry! Just a few I can think of real quick!!
  2. I have picked up quite a few good deals on Amazon with their silly add-on items. I just save them all in my cart and wait for the prices to go down and when it hits about $25 (the add-on requirement) I purchase then. Have to be patient however. So men's wallets, socks for both men and women, toys (melissa and doug, crayola, playskool), scarves, gloves and most for $2-$3 (6 pairs women's socks gold-toe, men's 3 pairs for $2, etc). Sometimes if there is a particular item on someone's list I keep in my cart and then fill in with the add-ons. So blu-ray Hocus Pocus yesterday was around $5 and some of my add-ons had dropped in price so was easy to have a large order of items (11) right at $25.02. Great for small/medium gifts and stocking stuffers.
  3. ^^^Diana03 As a nanny to a 3 year old who is crazy for firetrucks (fireman for Halloween this year) I personally like the Vtech Go! Go! Smart Wheels Fire Command Rescue Center better than the Amazement Park one. The park is really big and takes up a larger footprint. Which is fine if you have the space but little ones like to get down on their bellies and play with their "cars and trucks". The standing and playing is great with kitchens and workshops but for the cars, trucks and planes, the floor and little tables work great. My little guy has the Fisher Price tall loopy thing for his fisher price cars little people and he doesn't play with it much, rather he takes the cars and plays on his car mat or just on the floor. Hope this helps. The fire station seems to be $24.99 at TRU vs. 29.99 at amazon and not in stock at walmart.
  4. None at our store Thursday evening, electronics manager could not find a single one. True with some other items as well. We left and decided to try again in the early morning. after re-stocking. And sure enough they had found a box of the brave blu-ray combos in the back, along with a TON of other items. There was no one in the store, 5 am. They put out 6 more displays of blu-rays and dvds, 6-7 more pallets of toys, electronics including the blu-ray players, TVs (all had needed tickets/lines previously) phones, more pallets of clothes......looked like a totally different store. Shopped for at least 2 hours before anyone else wandered in, this is a huge 24 hour Super Center. It was impossible to walk Thursday night and it was like a ghost town Friday morning.

  6. Nabi 2 is $129 NOW at bestbuy.com...6 am ish est
  7. ^^^ Agree with this about access to the ads ahead of time! The benefit has greatly out weighed the negatives of being disappointed. Knowing the items' prices on BF compared to sales this past weekend (veterans' day sales) helped us out immensely. Macy's prices on Friday and Saturday for their one day sale in addition to the $10 off $25 coupon eliminated the need to shop there on BF. The system was down that tracks what is allowed for the $10 coupon so all the sales assiociates were instructed to push all the coupons through. So the coupon "worked" on everything, morning specials, designer fashions, cosmetics, perfumes, everyday values....all the typical exclusions. Comparing the ad prices most items differed at most by $1, if that. Not as much on sale BUT what I needed/wanted was. Combined with minimal people shopping, fully stocked in all sizes and colors and I was a happy camper. They were giving out boxes for all things, no waiting in line for that and as many as you needed. Great shopping experience. Same is true for our new Toys R Us, picked up what I needed price matching to Target, Walmart and Big Lots and combining that with TRU's coupons, freebies and rebates (hasbro games) in the previous weeks sales. Might only shop the remaining items on Amazon. We shall see. But having the ads ahead of time helped immensely, even if they were disappointing to some. Saved time, aggravation and in some cases money!
  8. ^^^ Think my son bought the same lappy for his GF for Christmas! Lenovo Thinkpad from Staples? Although I think he paid a little less. Bought it during our state's tax-free weekend with a back-to-school sale instant savings, $150 coupon on a Lenovo laptop and the $100 rebate (he requested a check vs. the pre-paid visa, which he did just receive), for under $400. Great deal for Christmas, found a great laptop backpack at Ross to go with it!
  9. The fisher price farm is $34.99 at Wally and amazon, $44.99 at Kmart (but they have the B1G1 50% off) still, when ny kiddos where little I don't remember it being so much.
  10. I picked up super grover 2.0 from amazon last week before he went up in price. His eyes are stitched/embroidered and has nice details. Much better than I thought and not too big for my little guy to play with. He is all wrapped up in plastic, so nice and safe til Christmas.
  11. Also good for children's books and coloring books for $1. Especially around Christmas, Christmas books for $2 and $3 and wrap for $1 and bags.
  12. Bought mine AFTER Christmas when they are 90% off. Have had 3-4 over the past 20 years from there and they hold up well. They sometimes put them on sale but not at a significant price reduction. Have fiber optic ones they have sold in the windows of the attic and two more in the windows of the garage (all purchased at 90% off). Had their $299 tree in family room for at least 10+ years put it died last year. Was able to order a VERY nice one from Amazon with no shipping or tax (Bethlehem Lighting) for under $49 last year. Left it in my cart until it was a ridiculously low price and no shipping. Delivered by Fedex in two days, awesome, awesome tree.
  13. Me and me....my 5 kiddos (all college students + their friends from all parts of the country, flying in at different crazy times!!) so 10-15 there, my mom and dad, sis + hubby + niece and nephew and some extras from oldest daughter's work. So lots. Cook a HUGE turkey 28 lbs+ and a LARGE ham and zitti and all the extras. Appetizers, desserts and all the wild concotions my girls want to make, usually ending in a bigger mess. Have 2 big tables that seat 10 each but there never is enough seating. My neighbors know every year that there will be tons of food so some of them end up wandering in! Since I spend most of my time with my head in the ovens I can't keep track of everyone. They all have fun and come every year. Some as far as 3000+ miles away. It's good practice for Christmas since we do it all over again just for more days!!! Been this way for many years!
  14. Toys R US has an ad for today 9/7 selling DS Lite + game + accessory for 25% off. Online it takes 25% off the console if you add in an accessory for $19.99 or more. We went into the store and purchased the silver console reg. price $129.99 (silver) sale $97.49 + game (also rang up 25% off) + accessory (stylus for 25% off also). The 25% came off any game and any accessory, i.e. starter packs, skins and they did not need to be any minimum price. Some skins were $2.98 and some games were $9.98. We however needed a Spore and that also rang up 25% off, and picked up Walle at Best Buy for $19.99. Hope this helps. Kat
  15. Nephew will be 9 this year but last year bought some gift certificates for riding (western) lessons, bought him some nice boots and comfy jeans to ride in. Same for his sis this year who is 7. Go at least once a week and camp in the summer. Somebody gave them a crazy idea if they start saving up maybe their own horse would be in their future!! Of course, they might get some financial "help" from their aunt!!
  16. What????? NO SANTA?????? As a mommy of five, oldest is 23 youngest 16 we ALL believe. Never knew a time when I didn't. Just to make sure asked my dad, he's 62 and he is quite adamant St. Nick still reigns in the North Pole! He in turn asked my grandmother and she is 88 and she also confirmed what we all KNOW in our house, SANTA RULES! I guess my kiddos were intuitive enough to figure out not to ask or question and had no problem with other kiddos making fun. Granted the 3 older boys are/were defensive/offensive lineman on their respective high school and college football teams and announced loud and clear to all that Santa does exist, they "read it in The Sun!" My neice and nephew live down the street from us (6 & 7) and they swear our house is the "Christmas" house. Now that some of the kids are off at college they have all new friends to "convert", stockings for everyone!!! Kat
