  1. Target in my little town of SE OHIO clearanced jewelry. Inside the display cases everything was 30-50% off. Snagged two watches at 50% off for gifts...I've just started getting into Target clearance deals but I don't think I've ever seen that many red stickers in jewelry before.
  2. 1. In your opinion, what store had the best Black Friday ad last year (2008) and why? I can't remember specifics from last year because my entire family got the stomach flu @ 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night. I just remember being so sick I couldn't even go online. Meijer usually has some good toy and video game deals but I also find Target to be very competitive lately also. I can find good deals at Kohls also. 2. What would be your #1 piece of advice to someone totally new to Black Friday? Plan, plan, plan! I type everything up and organize everything I am interested in according to priority. I organize according to what store opens first, list hours (early bird hours, etc) if I have a coupon, and what I am interested in. I also bring lists of who I am looking to buy for so I can keep track. Might turn this into a binder this year. Definitely look at past BF threads for lots of tips. If going with someone else split up at a store to cover more ground. Use cell phones or walkie talkies. 3. Besides offering great deals, what else can a store do to get you to shop there on BF? I think the stores need to plan properly as well. I like target because they don't let people cut in line or move the merchandise around so much that you need a map to find it! Nothing like waiting outside for 90 minutes in line for a store to let someone who just pulled up walk in when they open the doors. I think this year safety will something you hear more about after a few accidents last year. If stores are relocating things pass out the map ahead of time instead of as you are walking through the doors. And for goodness sakes get your panties out of a bunch RELEASE THE AD early to be posted online at this great website. Had to be a complete moron who decided it was bad for business and your ad was to special to be seen early. If anything you just ticked off a bunch of BF professionals who might of spent a lot more money at your store due to being so well prepared. Freebies help also! That is my two cents...back off my high horse :)
  3. You must of gotten lucky...I called about my order that got completely messed up - what a joke! Ordered seven hats 5 were not fulfilled. Invoice online said that two of my hats were being delivered. Got my delivery and had three hats in it. Only one hat was the one I ordered. The other two were the right size and team but not what I ordered at all. Invoice in the box showed me being billed for three hats and that two were what I ordered...way confusing how messed up this got. On the phone (again) trying to explain this and was joking around saying yeah I know computer glitch messed up your inventory and took orders it shouldn't have right...guy said yeah so then I continued to joke and said that on top of that you had a flood also and your inventory was also damaged and he said how did you know???? All in all experience w/ ordering from them was so bad I can only laugh about it.
  4. Yes, I am very disappointed also! I placed an order of 7 hats for gifts and 2 (my least favorite ones) are only available. We were so excited to get this deal and the fact that nobody even tried to contact us via phone or email just charge whatever they like to the credit card infuriates me. Supposedly they can't cancel my order but I now get to wait in line for a supervisor to contact me. Who knows how long that will take!!!!! This is horrible cutomer service in my book!
  5. Missed the free shipping code but ended up finding one with shipping for $1.99 so not bad. 7 hats (xmas gifts) for less than $35. Two were b1g1 1/2 off so this was GREAT!
  6. Has anyone ever ordered from them before? Finding LOTS of Ohio State hats that would be good for xmas gifts.
  7. My husband and I are interested in purchasing a pop up shade tent for our family. Does anyone have any recomendations on features to look for or brand?
  8. I am looking for a bassinet and a few other baby items. Anyone have any good tips on where to gind good deals?
  9. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this.....I am totally drawing a blank on what to get my dad and step mom this year. I usually send them something that I order online but I am drawing a blank for a unique gift this year. They have cats so I have to be careful about anything poisonous regarding flowers. We aren't extremely close my parents divorced when I was very young and I didn't seem him much as a child. Just started to try to recover a relationship with him when I was an adult and it has been a 10 year process to get to where we are which is cordial. I think they want to have a better relationship but it is just hard to get there. They aren't really "kid people" and I have 3 with one more on the way. Any ideas....no suggestion at this point could be a bad one. It's like I want to get something special but just can't think of what it is........frustrating!
  10. woohoo! Glad we took the plunge and got it at the $99 price for our 2 ds before the price went up. Crazy how fast the price changed.
  11. OK, I am a horrible SS recipient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I received my ss gift in the mail prior to Thanksgiving (at least a week before so I am REALLY bad) and keep meaning to post but wanted to take my time to write out a really nice thank you response and I am now just going to give up with trying to have the time to try to be eloquent (who am I kidding anyway, I'm pregnant with three kids). My SS was AWESOME! A lovely box not only including wonderful gifts for me but also stockings made up for each of my children and the little bun in the oven. The kids stockings each had the most adorable chefs hats and aprons, blue for boys and pink for DD. They got puzzles and flash cards and dd got High School Musical themed gifts that she LOVED and is currently putting to use writing her xmas list(s) in whenever we go to the store and something strikes her fancy. The baby stocking had a blanky and cute onesies. I got kitchen gadgets and my favorite scented antibacterial soap from Bath and Body Works. Also had candles and a box of chocolates and much more. SO VERY THOUGHTFUL!!!!!!!! Can't say thank you enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was so much fun and we have needed fun lately. We were worried about layoffs this month and my husbands work but it seems enough people took a buyout that we might be able to avoid that. DS 3 got the stomach flu on Tuesday so I stayed home with him and let the rest of my family celebrate Thanksgiving at SIL house. Thursday night I went to bed early to prepare for shopping the next day only to turn around and get back up because DS1 and hubby got the stomach flu with me shortly following behind at 4 a.m. Needless to say no Black Friday shopping in my house this year. Then Friday night DS 3 broke out in a mysterious rash on his neck and ears right before bedtime. Woke up the next morning covered head to toe in hives. Looked like he sunbathed in Florida with baby oil on. Took him to the dr and they have him medicine and recommended Benadryl. 1:30 Sunday morning we rushed him to the ER because he was worse and developed a fever and swollen hands/fingers, feet and face. After waiting 3 hours finally saw the dr. and he was put on steroids. He looks much better but still breaks out several times a day and they go away in a couple of hours and then come back. We have had no new soaps, routines or foods so we are mystified what this could be. We have racked our brains as much as possible. Now my OB Dr's office called after hours this evening but I missed the phone so of course have to wait until tomorrow to get in touch with them. The nurse usually doesn't call so I'm paranoid. Wow, what an eloquent thank you - huh. Seriously, I'm just hormonal and stressed. I REALLY appreciated the SS gift more than I can express and the effort you put into it was loved by everyone in my family. It was so special for you to think of my children also. I can't wait to find out who my SS is so I can apologize for my delay in posting my Thank you properly and extend a GIGANTIC thank you!
  12. First timer here....just wondering how should we sign our Christmas cards for the exchange. Real names or how we refer to ourselves on the forums (or both). Just curious how it may have been done in previous years. Thanks Also, I'm assuming we do not include anything but our return address for the ss exchange.
  13. I hide things in my luggage with a luggage lock on it. We have two or three very large luggage pieces that we can use. In the end it isn't enough but at least it helps. Last year we used my husbands car trunk also.
  14. Looks like they extended the sale to be Thursay - Sunday. I want to go but still deciding.
  15. I made these last year with my daughter and we used the wilton disposable piping bags and used a rubber band on the top with ribbon over it along with a dag containing instructions on how to make the cocoa. Turned out great!
  16. Oh my! My 3 yr old DS would absolutely LOVE that. He is a dinosaur fanatic and I can't stress that enough. I think we might seriously have to consider that but I think I might be able to justify it as a joint big gift for DS 3 and DS1. I see that it isn't supposed to be availabe until Oct. 16, do you think we will see any price drops lower than the $299? Maybe someone who bought Butterscotch or Smore might know how the sale trend usually works on these type of items.
  17. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for used and/or new moving boxes free or cheap. We live in the middle of nowhere so I'm not sure how lucky I'll be with Craig's List but will definitely keep my eye out there. Figured I'd ask all of my resourceful gottadealers!
  18. Looking for any advice for finding plus size maternity jeans and/or bottoms. :blush:If you have experience purchasing these I am looking for any recommendations as far as brands that fit well or styles (straight, boot, wide leg). I am also looking for advise on good websites or stores to shop at. I already am looking through ebay but wanted any other advise available. I like to go cheap on maternity clothes given how much I HATE wearing them! Thanks for any tips!! :)
  19. thanks! I sent you an email. Could you please tell me a little more about the cookie exchange - I am a first-timer! Do you send to multiple addresses with four different items or is it with just one household? And should we list any allergies in our email such as nuts, coconut or dislike of chocolate? (I already sent you an email and love chocolate, coconut and have no allergies for the record - just asking about this). Thanks for anymore info!
  20. I couldn't get the code to work with the gummi bears anyone else have any luck?
  21. I had a Bissell Lift Off until last year. I had the same thing happen to me and ordered a new brush/bar from the website and sure enough it worked good as new again. I think with shipping and everything it was a $20 fix. The part came pretty fast also! Be forwarned though, it is a tight fit getting the bar back on but definitely doable! Goodluck!
  22. When I looked on the website it just said $2 for the espn mag. Anyone know if that is per issue for one year or two it just seemed unusual the way it was on the site.
  23. Just gathered the rest of the info. The dates are Oct. 2-4. Admission is free everyday you will probably have to pay parking though. Hours are 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and on Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. I'm excited for this - hello Christmas presents (for me!)
  24. Just heard that Vera Bradley will be having a Fall Outlet sale for the first time this year in Fort Wayne. It is the first weekend in Oct. Thursday - Saturday! I am SOOOOOOOO Excited!!!!!
