  1. February 24, anything left of VDay? Looking for candy, or candy disguised as children’s valentines. I probably waited too late.
  2. 90% off holidays. That’s what I seek. And they do it every year. This has not changed. They just don’t last long, either because it’s sold so fast, or because, like you mentioned, they salvage it (donate it). Typically large organizations like churches will buy up stuff for Easter and things, and then use them next year. No matter how cheap things are, I’m never going to load up several shopping carts of plastic eggs, but they will. They also started doing the 30/50, 50/75, 75/90 thing. You used to could load up on seasonal grocery items. I would buy cookies for the break room. Don’t know if that makes products last longer on the shelves, or makes people on here less likely to visit, or the real reason they have started salvaging items so quickly, as they need the room. In the past, you have a good week since the first day of 90, but now, find something where it shouldn’t’ve been 2 days later, you go to scan it, and not found. Want it bad enough, you have to go to guest services, where depending on who you get, is problematic because you have to explain 90% off the price written on the box. I’m some cases, they'll refuse to even sell it to you, even if they still have a home on a shelf. They also don’t follow the markdown formula like they used to, which is why updates on this thread are so important. Halloween and Christmas 2016 went 90 several days before they used to, and I’m not calling Target to ask because they either lie or don’t know. I still remember the time I walked in the door by guest services and caught a team member pushing a cart full of Christmas “go backs” from guest services to seasonal. I saw complete china sets and other such great finds that you can only get from seasonal returns. I asked him if Xmas went 90 yet, and he said no, 75. So I took my time making my way to seasonal. NINETY!!! Signs everywhere, and it was the evening, so they’ve been up. That cart was picked clean. Nothing left but a few bows and Xmas cards. This is also why you have to keep a close full eye on your shopping cart. If someone sees a cart full of 90%, other customers may think they’re meant to go back, not claimed by another shopper. At least, I hope that’s what they’re thinking. Returns were always my secret that I never mentioned in here till today. If they don’t have room, they’ll pull the cart out and place it near guest services for a team member to pick up. Either the closest register, or right by the guest services counter. Morning has all the goodies employees found stuck somewhere in their department, many broken, as they won’t sort, so be careful. Afternoon you’ll find everything returned that morning. In 2004, I found 3 full sized golden pre lit grapevine deer that someone returned. There was nothing wrong with them, so back on the floor they went. 90 OFF! I only had to pay a few dollars. This was huge, as I made very little back then. We’re talking $7/hr. So I wouldn’t have any outdoor lighting. And I mean that because for whatever reason red and green colored flood lights, were sold out everywhere, for months. Yet come January, people were returning them everywhere. I didn’t know you could “rent” these things.
  3. Problem is an admin was always the one who locked each year, unstickied, started a new, then stickied that one. Due to the traffic, it made sense and made everything clean and easy. But this forum is so dead now that there’s not really a point. The year I signed up, the thread had 345 pages. The year you signed up, 17. This current thread has gone through 3 Christmases, and only has accumulated 4 pages. If anything, it would be better to just have the admin change the title, since that’s how we’ve been doing things now.
  4. Saw the Halloween Oreos on an end cap in grocery facing the wall. $1.10 at my store, no coupon 70/90 today in North DFW. Completely forgot, but managed to get there 5-10 minutes after opening. Got sooo many costumes. My daughter loves dressing up. For whatever reason, Target mailed me two $5 off $15 or more coupons in the mail on separate days, so I was able to do two separate transactions (bought other things) and used them, so 90% off AND $10 off!
  5. Maybe there's some stupid Facebook group. I swear that site has killed every forum I have ever frequented. People don't even get their news from regular sites anymore. Got a question? Why Google it? Ask Facebook.
  6. Two Targets in North Dallas went 90. ...like a few days ago. At least one of those I asked claimed they did. They told me they had too much Christmas, that their stockroom was full and needed Halloween gone. Pretty much candy corn and those plastic pumpkin buckets. Very disappointing. Not just the store. I always come to this site during the fall/winter seasons, but it looks like activity on this site has gone to a crawl.
  7. I worked at Target from 03-07, and I never saw any CDs on clearance. That also goes for DVDs, books, software, and video games. I do know that seasonal stuff might sometimes end up in the mix, like you said, but they would ring up normal price. My fellow employees liked to stick clearance wherever they felt like it. They liked to do the same with products that needed numbers. Clearance endcaps it went. Always pissed me off, because guess who ended up being the cashier ringing these up? I remember asking electronic employees what they did with all the seasonal media. They told me that it gets boxed up and shipped out. That's probably what happened to all our VHS tapes. I don't remember ever selling audio cassettes (store opened in 2003)
  8. 50% off Halloween non perishables. Where is everybody? I hope Facebook didn't kill this forum too.
  9. *At that price, it's definately worth a try. All they can say is no. But typically anything that doesn't meet the consumers expectations is worthy of a refund. The product could have been defective, so even if not used, they wouldn't want to resell it. If it makes you feel any better, I can tell you another return story. Again a target return. I witnessed someone return Market Pantry potato chips. As mentioned by others they could have been purchased expired and tasted bad. It was returned because it did in fact taste bad. Not sure about the expiration date, but as nosy as I am, I noticed that the bag had been half eaten. In addition to that, it was some horrid flavor, like BBQ green pepper and radish, or something insane like that. Something that right away you knew they would be bad. Anyway, return was excepted, even though it was good enough to eat half the bag. Made me wonder if I too could test anything I wanted, without gambling my own money. There's a ton of stuff I dont buy because I'm too afraid they won't work, or taste bad. And as mentioned, you can always contact the manufacturer if they deny the return. Without customer feedback, they can't improve their products. Many times they'll offer you a refund or coupon for another product
  10. Many people hate Targets return policies. But they are there because of all the return fraud that goes on. A policy like that is in place because what's stopping someone from buying stuff at retail, returning it way after, once it goes 90. Get a full return and now able to repurchase the item at 90% now that the item is available. You can't hold clearance items, but this way you could. Then there's the jerks that prevent other consumers from paying retail that they actually want to. Let say someone wants Xmas lights but someone purchased way more than they needed, or USED the item over the holidays and returned them, giving them the ability to enjoy/show off FAKE wealth. I remember looking for red/green flood lights all over the place. I actually only needed one red as mine went out. They were no where. Sure enough in Jan I watched a man at Lowes return 10 red/green flood lights why would he buy that many if he didn't really need them? However sometimes this absurd behavior has benifited me. One time I got 2 full sized outdoor light up reindeer including an additional light up display for 90% as it was a return. Yep, they lit up, nothing wrong with them. So why return it? Baby/bridal shower gift returns hate the 3 item limit on no reciept returns. Reason for this? Well Target isn't the lowest price store. They don't even match prices. There's been items (usually online) that I have found for $40 cheaper. Without a reciept I could return the item and make a $40 profit. $40 for only a couple minutes of work. Now times that by how many times I do it. Even if it's just store credit, there's always something I could get, even food. I think on occasions even store credit sometimes has been limited to same department credit. Not sure what triggers that. Then the dreaded electronics policy. I remember 10-15 years ago my mom had to go all the way to corporate level for her return. She had purchased a VHS tape. We tried watching it but it was broken. All she wanted was a new copy. Problem was they were discontinuing VHS, and even though she bought it that week, there were none anywhere. Policy says that open media can only be returned for same title. Reason: what's stopping her from making a copy of the tape and then returning it. Retailers would become local libraries for piracy. Then there's the really absurd returns thats just begging for additional policies. I once witnessed a lady try to return a dollar spot dog chew toy. Her dog had chewed it up to shreds, and that was her complaint. At this point the clerk wasn't going to bother with dealing with such BS. He handed her a quarter... As you guessed it, dollar spot was 75% off. Was 25 cents really worth it? I didn't know you could do that. All this time I could have just gotten my cats new mice when their old ones got nasty. Cool! Then there was the time I witness another lady who returned a half a cart load of cheese. It seemed that she had purchased too much. Now something like that I figured you'd just hold onto and eat it later right? Oh well you can still return it though. Problem is they refused and had to get a store manager involved. Why? Well seems as though Target wasn't her first stop that day. The cheese had spent all day in her car. So naturally they couldn't resell it. Sadly they went ahead and gave her a refund. Wonder why stuff is so expensive? People like that. Although now that I think about it, what's stopping people from returning food that expired in their own freezers? Buy a replacement, then return the old one saying "uh, yeah, I just bought this but didn't realize it had expired" It stinks, but this is why places have to have rules *
  11. I remember they having cool stuff in the early 00s but towards the later half it was all just tacky IMO. In 06 and 07 most everything sat on a shelf till 30% and even then really didn't start moving till 75. People into that stuff were typically new home owners who are just starting out. Many of them would buy because they put it on their gift registry, only since many people get married in the spring or summer, such items would be clearanced out long before people could buy for them. At my store they haven't set up any lawn and garden stuff yet. The old trick for making seasonal shelfs look stocked is with storage containers, which were practical since people need them to store holiday decorations. But this year they used paper towels and other large grocery items which made me think every previous Xmas aisle was now dedicated to their get more pay less items, not something temporary.
  12. 90% at Flower Mound. I managed to walk out sending only $8. I guess I learned my lesson from the hoarding I did previous years. I got a $20 Remote control plug in device for my tree but when I scanned it, it was 75% off despite the packaging having their holiday graphics on it. Since it wasn't busy, And I only had a hand basket of items, I went to guest services to question it. I had no problem what so ever getting it reduced to 90. Those that call, I should warn you, just because they say it's 75 doesn't mean it is. The morning employees weren't there that previous late evening. Odds are they just clocked in and haven't checked yet. Since it's Jan and morning they may only have one person covering electronics to toys. I used to work there and there were times when the electronics person wad not allowed to leave the "camera boat." For the part, I worked in the evenings. I watched some new guy push a cart load of holiday "foriegn" towards his area. Being 5 or 6pm, everything in the cart was worth wild returns. Ya know, the good stuff that gets bought up at 30 and 50, even sold out at regular price! I asked him as a clocked in employee if it went 90% off yet. This was important to know because if I cashiered I wanted to make sure everything rung up correctly. He said no, still 75%. About 10 minutes later I was in the seasonal area. There were signs everywhere reading 90% and that cart which was merely left in the aisle was picked clean. Global Bazaar changes it's name every year. It lasts from Jan till March. Nothing ever sold at regular price. I'm surprised they had it as long as they did. I do not like the new way they are doing things. With the new upscale walnart across the street this 6 yo Target is looking more and more like a Kmart. This "get more for less" or "dollar days" always was kept at "mini seasonal" which made sense because it was pretty much considered part of the grocery dept. Maybe it was a marketing move to force people into shopping the whole store. In the past it would occupy mini season until valentines, until Easter, until summer and until Halloween.
