  1. If you can look for a deal on the Vizio sound bar with subwoofer. I was blown away at the sound of this thing. It compared to the higher priced soundbars. The LG didn't impress me too much.
  2. Didn't get it all, but managed some good deals.

  3. Unfortunately the stand alone GPS is dying off. Google Maps, Waze along with Apple Carplay and Android Auto are killing them. They offer constantly updated maps and real time traffic. And Google Maps is so much more accurate than Garmin and TomTom maps in my experience.

If you think about it you can get a decent new touch screen head unit for your car that has AA and ACP for not much more than a stand alone GPS.

Personally I'd love a stand alone GPS unit that uses Google Maps, real time traffic and constant updates. But with so many people using their phones and factory head units the market for stand alone units is fading.

Just like CD players in cars. They are dying off and I hate it. I have a 2017 F150 and ony top of the touch screen head unit it has a CD player. They have now killed them off in the 2019 models. The new Silverado has too. Many other auto manufacturers are doing the same.

  5. Can you apply the gift card towards the purchase of the phone? I have done this at Best Buy before. That way it makes your monthly payment cheaper.

No. Phone has to be activated before the gift card becomes valid. It is like that everywhere. You sure what you used at Best Buy wasn't a gift card for a trade in?

  6. I was able to snag the last pair of airpods for $117. Who would've thought that would be the case at 7:15am.

They must have restocked. Saw someone post on Twitter that after they finally got in at 3am they were sold out.

I got notification my two pairs have shipped.

  7. I think it's more of an it is what it is type of situation. It will never end and there will always be some new format out. Beta/VHS VHS/DVD DVD/HD-DVD/Blu Ray and so on and on and on. 4K will be replaced by 8k then 12k then 864,000K and so on. I think holding out at first is a good idea but you get to a point where you need/want to replace a piece of electronics you can't wait for the next great thing because it will soon be in some battle and replaced also. I think you just need to go into it with open eyes and knowledge of what you're getting now and what could be coming down the pipe.

I'm honestly not buying in to 4k. I don't really think it will catch on. I still know many many people who haven't made the switch to blu ray.

When I bought this set I bought it because it had an awesome 1080p picture. Didn't really have much of a desire to go into 4k. Nor the 3D that it does. But with the fire sale prices of the XBOX ONE S and Black Friday sales on 4k discs I figure I'd see what I was missing. Apparently not much. I'm just really glad the 4k discs come with blu ray as well. With the exception of Planet Earth 2. Which I will wait to watch when I eventually upgrade my set.

  8. Looks like we are heading into another format war. HDR10, Dolby Vision and others. Personally I'm sitting back and wait for the dust to settle as I am a victim of this war. I bought a Sony XBR55X850C set two years ago. Which at the time was considered a higher end set. It was advertised as HDR. Just bought an Xbox One S and was looking forward to finally getting to view 4k on my 4k set. What a big disappointment this turned out to be. I popped in my brand new copy of The Martian, rated as one of the better 4k transfers, and was shocked. Colors were extremely muted. Details were no better than blu ray. In fact I still had my Panasonic blu ray player hooked up and did a comparison between the 4k copy and blu ray copy. The blu ray copy won hands down. Details were sharper. Colors popped. After some research I discovered that my 4k HDR set was only HDR compatible. Not true HDR. So I am not really getting the full advantage of 4k. I consider myself pretty tech savvy. But I am a victim of good marketing and advertising. This is as bad as all of the different audio formats that keep you constantly upgrading.

  9. Was in Target today. Noticed that The Lion King on Blu-ray was marked $24.99 on the shelf. Remember it was $15 online yesterday so I checked and it still was. Ordered it while I was shopping and it was ready to be picked up before I left.
