  1. Got one today at Super WAlmart in Griffin, Ga.! HURRY, they have TWO left.
  2. I posted a LONG story on this on the other forums. Lots of people have had trouble getting them. I finally went to store and manager honored my on line order. Try to do that. Lots of luck. Beth
  3. FOLLOW UP! Today as I was scanning the Office Max sales paper, I noticed the San Disk SD 1 GB, with same stock number as mine were on SALE. Reduced from 54.99 to $19.99. My order on line was for $12.99. I immediately picked up the phone and called the customer service number that was on my on line order and spoke with a representative who ASSured me that she would call store the store 'as soon as they opened' and give them a request to override the sales price showing now in sales ad and let me have the 3 SD's for the price on my order and would call me back!!! Waited several hours and called Office Max local store and they were open. Got in the car drove to the brick and mortar store, spoke with the Manager, ( someone different than I spoke with the last time) showed her my on line order and asked her if any one from Customer NO Service had called to request they fill my order.........of course they had NOT, and I am still waiting for phone call. In any event, the MANAGER of this store did call and spoke with someone who gave her permission to cancel my previous order, that was backordered and I had been told was NOT going to be filled anyway, and she got permission from someone connected with CUSTOMER NO SERVICE to let her override the sale price advertised in local paper. This manager did everything possible to make me a happy customer! ENDING......I now have the 3 SD cards that I order on NOV. 23, after much aggravation, for the price that they were on BLACK FRIDAY. Presistence does pay off. However, Office Max has STILL lost me as a customer, when I walked out of the store I told them they were FIRED! I have choices of other office supplies stores, and shop elsewhere. If you haven't received your on line order keep trying! Hopefully it will work out for you too.
  4. To follow up.......I have spoken with Office Manager at our local store. He has about 15 in stock, but can't override the price difference???????????, why I have no clue. Have sent email to Office Max and promised an answer within a couple of hours....that was at 9:00A.M. this morning. My next step is to contact Clark Howard, our Atlanta consumer guru. The point of all of this was that SD cards were on sale almost EVERYWHERE, but the one at Office was CHEAPER. If I had not received an email saying that items were in stock and would be delivered withing 5-7 days, I could have bought some ELSEWHERE. NOW they are alot more expensive everywhere. I also ordered EARLY, as soon as I got notice from Gottadeal that stores and on line ordering was up and running on Thanksgiving day. Learned a good lesson from all of this...........DO NOT SHOP AT OFFICE MAX AGAIN. There is an office supply company on every corner. I will quit giving them my business! Being a Realtor, I do buy lots of office supplies from them, both for home and at my office........but no more. I will pass them by and wave as I go up the street! Beth in Georgia
  5. On Thrusday, NOv. 23, I ordered on line, after reading Gottadeal and a list of the items that were already on line for ordering, 3 SAN DISK 1 GB Secure Digital Memory Cards for $12.98 each. I received confirmation that night, that they were in stock and would be shipped within 5-7 days. After waiting at least two weeks for the orders I checked web site to check on my order only to find out that it is BACKORDERED. I visited my local Office Max last night ( DEC 8) and they have 15 of these on the shelves.....of course they are $58.00. AFter speaking with the store manager to try to get a price match option on my order, I was told that they were fulfilling store orders first and then on line orders, and that she had gotten an order of 10 of these items just yesterday, along with a note asking them to volunteer to return some so they could fulfill on line orders. This did not make me HAPPY. This morning I have called OFFICE MAX Customer NO SERVICE only to be told that they 'probably' are going to cancel all of the on line orders as they 'just can't fill all of them and keep the store stocked also". Did anyone else order these from Office Max on Thrusday before Black Friday and have you received your order? Beth in Georgia
  6. I was in Walmart during Black Friday 2004 standing in electronic line, when someone in toy department started hollering and screaming...........HER WATER HAD BROKEN and she was in LABOR! People were stepping over this lady. The store manager finally had get on the loud speaker and SCREAM for people to stand still and MOVE out of the way, so the EMT's could get inside to this lady to help her. She had the baby in the parking lot and named HIM SAM! It was wild. But, I couldn't help but wonder why someone that close to having a baby would be out shopping on black friday. Must have been some amazing deals!

    Walmart

Our consumer guru, Clark Howard, here in Atlanta has sent out his newsletter concerning Walmart and Black Friday. I am coping the portion of the newsletter here for anyone who is interested: Wal-Mart to start Black Friday early Wal-Mart is feeling the effects of all the bad press out there, having just reported its worst sales month in years. As a result, the mega-retailer is going to launch Black Friday early this year. If you’re not familiar with Black Friday, it’s the Friday after Thanksgiving and it usually kicks off the holiday shopping season. But this year Wal-Mart will start Black Friday this weekend – Nov. 4 and 5. The company is going to discount 10,000 items, including a $300 Compaq laptop computer that normally retails for much more. The sale will put pressure on other retailers to offer up their deals early, so keep an eye out!
  8. If you have AOL and any high speed service, Bellsouth, Comcast, etc. AOL will let you use their service for free with no haggling. One exception, if you want to remain on any kind of dial up service ( in case you DSL or cable is out) you have to pay a $4.95 month fee. I had no problem whatsoever with doing this. They were as nice and efficient as ever. Give it a try.
  9. I think the store in Morrow, Ga. has layaway.
