  1. In line at BB since 11:45 this morning. Me and three buds. Got a nice setup in our 12x12 canopy tent enclosed with HDTV (19" Dynex), 5.1 surround. We are watching Plains, Trains, and Automobiles - appropriate! Have our heaters going and even a ceiling fan to keep the heat back down on us. Our BB manager is a great guy and has been very informative. No secret deals, but we came for what was already in the ad anyway.

    About 5-6 people behind us.

    Have fun all.

  2. Our BB manager has talked to us a few times since we lined up. The cheapest laptop is the $349 deal. Cheapest desktop is the $299 deal. He said he will be offering some other Geeked-Up laptops he is looking to clear out - not sub-$300 deals, but higher end laptops at great prices.

He also said there would not be alot of ticketed items as they have plenty of inventory. For example, they have 65 of the 32" Dynex TVs.

Well, we are sitting here watching Plains, Trains, and Automobiles. Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. All set up at Best Buy in Cleveland. Got started about 11:45 AM. I am using the same 12x12 canopy in my picture, but with walls. We have a ceiling fan to keep the heated air down. As soon as the store closes we will fire up a generator. We have a 19" LCD and 5.1 surround to hook up. Nice and cozy! Now, only 32 hours till they open!

Yes, we are getting some stares!!

  4. I stopped in my local BB and spoke to the manager. I wanted to verify the rules of BF would be the same as last year and to ask if I could use a generator. He said that the city actually doesn't allow generators. Then again he said they don't allow tents either. So he was OK with the generator unless the police had something to say about it. Best I have coffee available when they come by.

The manager said there are some changes on the tickets this year. He said not all stores were doing this, but his was one of the pilots for it. They will hand out tickets as usual, but you have to claim your item by 8:00. If the item is not claimed it will be re-ticketed. That ticket would be good until another time (maybe 10:00). And again could be re-ticketed if the item was not claimed. He said they have had too many unclaimed items. I found that hard to believe.

He said they would hand out tickets like they did last year. Our store reps would not tell you what tickets they had, you had to tell them what you were there for. He said this was done for the first time last year to reduce 'ticket grabbers'.

As far as additional DBs: He wouldn't spill any beans on them. Just that there are some really good deals being added and even some really good deals in this Sunday's ad. Basically I took away that he really didn't have any details on anything!

He asked me what time I was lining up because the feel the lines will be earlier and longer this year. Again, I'm thinking no on that. I told him I could not tell him what time because it would be a security breach in my year-long plan to be the DB King. Also, my Gottadeal BF T-Shirt needs assurance that the people behind me indeed see that I got theor DB! :D

  5. I bought the 19" Dynex for my camper last spring. Bought the extended warranty since I knew it would be seeing some vibration. So far, no issues. Picture is great when we are closer to bigger cities and actually get reception. Otherwise we use it for a PS2 to either play games or watch DVDs. It was a nice upgrade from the 15" CRT we had before. I have it mounted directly to one of the cabinet doors.

So for this application it was fine. I would consider buying another for the kids room - although probably a 22".

  6. It looks to me like the prices were set way back in February or somethin'.

With the current economic crisis, I've seem similar prices RIGHT NOW.

Some of their LAST YEAR stuff was better than this (22" LCD $149, TomTom $99, etc.)

Oh well, save some sleep, anyway.

Tom Tom was $119.99 last year. The Nuvi 205 is that this year and a good deal!

  7. The BF one is 2gb memory and 320gb hard drive, and you get the 18" lcd monitor.

and a printer, Anti-Virus software, and Vista Home Premium versus XP Home

I still say its not a bad deal. I'm not WOW'd (but that was last year's catch phrase), but its not bad.

  8. While I would have liked to have seen the $200 laptop and $179 desktop listed I think they will still be added as usual.

Nice deal on the Nuvi 205. I like the $99 19" LCD Monitor. Decent price on the 1TB My Book. The $299 desktop is still a good deal. Good storage, memory adequate for my intended use, nice monitor, Vista Home Premium versus the Basic!

This will make for a nice PC for my 11 year olds. Neighbor needs a laptop and the Toshiba listed at $379 will be great for his needs.

No, I haven't bailed on BB this BF. I will be picking up these items and hoping for the usual late announced DBs.

  9. Lets just ut it this way....I plan on standing in line for at least 17 hours this year. We now have 2 stores that are the same distance away from me, so i am wondering and debating on which one to go to. The newest one just opened in July of this year. I am ready to go now, just wish I had my Time Machine project finished!:smart:

I would go to the bigger of the two stores.

  10. When people go in the store and pick up like six of the same item. I mean come on... the store already only has a limited amount, and you try to buy up almost all. Save some for everybody else who might have been waiting all night for the same thing.

Just tonight I broke into my second DVD 100 pack spindles from BB I got last BF. I picked up two. Was taking two too much?

  11. I've had the PS3 since it came out and have yet to purchase a blu-ray movie to watch in it! Are they really that much better? I have a HD-TV.....

In some cases, YES, they are that much better. For example, digitally animated movies like Ice Age are incredible in Blu-Ray. Other movies not so great like, Blazing Saddles. It is definitely better than DVD, but maybe not worth it for everyone. I have about 15 Blu-Ray movies now and really do enjoy the higher quality. I also rent BR from Netflix. Great way to see if the quality is worth it before you buy.

  12. I would seriously consider returning the HDMI cables, you can get them online for $5 dollars from site slike monoprice dot com, and because HDMI is digital you cannot really have good or bad quality. Cables at BestBuy and such are very overpriced, with markups of 700% not uncommon. When I worked there, the discount was what BestBuy paid for the item + 5%...$100 monster cables were under $10 on discount.

I agree - the first HDMI cable I bought over 2 years ago was $79 (3 foot length). I bought a 6 foot cable last week on line for $4. The cable are all manufactrued to standards. Its crazy to buy a Monster brand for example when a generic is just fine.
