  1. Same here. I buy the small appliances at WM every year. They are also cheap for back up in case something happens with your regular appliances such as mixers or an extra coffee maker. Although my kids use the sandwich maker all of the time.lol

Me too! For that price, I cannot pass them up. They also make a nice little last minute gift if needed. Everybody loves those little mini choppers. I need a new one this year too.

  2. This was almost 7 yrs ago - but Black Friday was my last day. So as soon as I finished, since I had agreed to work that day as a favor, my two wks was already over, they let me do my shopping and get my 10% off before I had to go hand in my card. But also, I am thinking it was the night before Thanksgiving, we got an extra 10% off.

  3. I dont have the Wish book this year so DD hasnt made her list yet....I am hoping to find a better deal on some sort of handheld gaming system for her. Was leaning toward the Vtech but havent seen great reviews on the TV system and no reviews for the portable. Anyone got a good toy review site? Not company BS line but from users/consumers?

I have heard good reviews on it. There is an adapter you can buy for it, I believe, one for the vehicle, or one for your wall. I am actually waiting for the tv system one, not the handheld one. It is on the Walmart list - but I am hoping someone has a package deal or something (with a game) come out.

  4. I haven't traded but I have given up an item that I had. It was a doll, I got the last one, and there was an elderly women that wanted to get it for her great grand daughter. I started walking away thinking oh yeah that's right lady, in your face I got the last one! Then I heard that little voice in my head saying, you know you should let her have it, so I did.

    Wow - that is nice!

  5. Does anyone else do this? I grabbed two DVD players one year, only wanted one, so I don't know why I grabbed two. But I did not get the Crockpot I wanted for my sister. I was standing in an aisle where a lady said, oh you got dvd players, I needed one, lucky you. She had like 3 of the crockpots in her cart, so I told her I would trade her a dvd player for a crockpot. She said yes, she had just grabbed the extra crockpot to keep as an extra gift. It worked out great for both of us! SO this year, I am wondering if I should grab extras of what I can get to, to use as trading leverage for what I want that I could not get to.

  6. Target had cheap care bears last year that were still there around 11 a.m.

My Target was out of them, but they had the little raincheck things already on the shelf. Unfortunately I was not able to get them before Christmas, so many people had rainchecks that they were running back out the second Target got them.

  7. With the ages of the boys, you may consider getting them all the SP. I have boys (12, 6, 4). My two oldest have the SP. The youngest has the leapster. The youngest wants there SP all of the time. If they all have the SP, they can share the games. You would not have to buy Leapster games, SP games and so on. In our house, we have community game cartridges.

I agree - that is a lot less games you have to buy over time as they will be able to share the games they do have.

  8. Yep - Hunter (the dog) will get a stuffed animal under the tree, and some treats in a stocking. Target (the cat) will get something, not sure yet because he is picky, under the tree, and some treats in a stocking. Hermit crabs get nothing, except a little garland decoration around their tank.

  9. The fast pace that day is wonderful, it goes by in a flash! But there are some customers that can really get to you if you let them... I think I would rather be there the day people are placing stuff on layaway then the day they pick it up.

  10. We only have one here, and it is at a mall that is too far away for me. Actually it is not too far, but I pass a bunch of malls on the way there, making it seem far... Maybe I will make it there one of these days, sounds nice!

  11. I know it is crazy! I haven't worked retail since 98, when I worked at Walmart. I put in my two wk notice a few wks before Thanksgiving because I found a new job. I hate to brag, but I was one of the fastest cashiers they had. They asked me to extend my notice to almost three wks, making my last day BF, because they needed me. I did, and deeply regretted it! I didn't mind the fast pace, it makes the day go by so quick, but some people are just plain mean that day!

  12. Now I don't know! I love Black Friday, but if my husband gets that day off, he wants to go to Vegas or Laughlin that weekend, leaving that morning! I am rooting for Laughlin if that happens, then he will be woken up at 12 in the morning to leave for Laughlin, I will drop him off, jump over the river, and head to Walmart in Bullhead City. But that seems kind of scary, braving BF in a store in which I don't have the layout memorized!
