  2. I work for Staples also and know this is a huge no no. Sorry to say but that pretty sad if you do this or if your manager lets this happen. I have fun with black friday even though I am working most of the people that come in are pretty pleasant. I hope you like that hard drive more than your job is all I am saying. To all you going out and waiting, good luck I hope you all get what you are looking for and hope things like this dont happen in your store.

I work for staples... im sure hoping my manager will lett me pickup that WD 640gb hard drive before they get snatched up by the customers...

  3. Well at the Staples I work at we had about 20-25 chairs last year and they were gone within the first hour. The chair we have on sale is a pretty nice chair and for the price doubt you will find anything that quality somewhere else. We sold out of them last year with in the 1st hour. We do have about 10-15 more than what we had last year. I have a feeling if you go to walmart first you may miss out unless you plan to be one of the first people in line at Wal Mart. Thouht I would throw my 2 cents in. Good Luck

All right, thanks for the advice. I think I'll run over to Wal-Mart first to get the Camera. I figure that at the worst, I'll be over at Staples by 5:45.

Here’s hopping that they don't sell out in 45 minutes.

  4. Nope 100%. They used to allow it but last year and this year even more there has been communication on this that we are not to price match anything that is bought early.

Truly I dont get why anyone would do this to tell you the truth. If that was allowed the would everyone just come in and buy the stuff in the ad ahead of time and not have to wait in line?

For any of the Staples employees - If i go in and say buy a Dell Desktop that's in the ad for Black Friday say on Tuesday, can i go in on Friday and get it Price matched for the difference? Thanks!

  5. Sounds like something that I we would be fired for at the retailer I work at. That policy is covered every year at this time to make sure everyone knows the policy. This guy had some guts thats for sure. People have killed for less.

You will not believe what hapened to me at KMART this past Sunday. My husband and I arrived there early to purchase the 26" LCD TV for $299 that is currently on sale. Although we were the first people in the parking lot, we didn't get in line until 3 people got out of the same car because I told my husband they would probably only have about 5 TV's in stock. Once we got in line, one of the 3 in front of us stated that there were only 3 TV's and too bad...they were already hers. My husband looked away and laughed because he knew he could beat them to the electronics area once the doors opened. We all know for the exception of Best Buy passing out tickets, it's first come first serve, right? Well, when the KMART employee came to unlock the doors, my husband entered first because he came in thru the exit door, he was the first back in electronics to grab a TV but they were not lout on the floor which I thought was strange but no big deal because I was the first person in line at the electronics register ready to purchase the TV once the employee came over to wait on us. He finally approaches the register area and takes out a slip of paper near the register with a UPC code written on it for the TV and hands it to the 3 people who were about the 4th or 5th people in line at the register. And tells them, "You're getting all 3 of them right?". They said yes and proceeded back to layaway to put them in layaway. All of us were stunned and of course asked what he was doing. He said they called yesterday (Saturday) and asked him to hold the TV's for them and that's exactly what he did. I was outraged and had to let him know what he did was unacceptable and totally wrong! He then tried to say, well they were the first ones in line outside and I replied with, that doesn't matter. I was the first one at the register. He quickly realized that he had screwed up big time and started calling for help in electronics. Have you ever heard of a store that "holds" sale items the day before a sale? Plus, this was a pre black Friday sale item. He kept apologizing and was so scared. My husband wants to call the corporate office on him and complain. The manager of the store was not there at the time this happened. Now get this. No matter how much we complained we knew the TV's were gone and we couldn't do anything about it. He put our name on a list and said he would call us as soon as he got some more in. My husband and I left the store and it wasn't even 10 minutes my cell phone rang and it was him saying he "found" another TV and for us to come get it. Right!!! You mean to tell me, you overlooked a TV? I returned to the store, purchased the TV and left. I advised him to not pull a stunt like that on Black Friday because he could get hurt! (smile) This guy I am speaking about was also the Electronics Lead, so he should have known better. My husband thinks he "hooked" up his family members because no employee in their right mind would "hold" a sale item such as a TV.

Am I right or did I just get worked up over nothing? We were so pissed on Sunday. I'm a Black Friday junkie & this idiot was trying to pull a fast one over us!

  6. Yes it will be 399 with no rebates and the option to get a free printer after 70 dollar rebate.

Any idea of the price range on this Indy?? Any rebates?? My boss is looking to help her daughter find another laptop for one of her twins. They got the $298 deal at Walmart but it was one per person and her hubby wasn't with her that day. Thanks for any info you could give me. :)

  7. Not to be a downer, but they would never have that for $199. they would be losing money.

You do realize that on most black friday items retailers lose money, right? Not to say this deal is even possible but...

  8. Working at Staples in the Indiana Ohio region it was stated that we will not have TV's this year in our region.

The Ipod is in the ad starting on Nov 9th. As of now I dont think this will be a black friday item. Looks like several memory cards and flash drives, Tom Tom,, Couple different hard drives. HP/Compaq Laptop dual core 2gb ram.

This is all I have so far. They are being somewhat hush hush more so than ever. Rumor is ad is going to be more conservative this year. We will see though.

  9. I got my regular best buy coupons in the mail today. I opened it up and it says on the front 20% of all Blu-Ray Disc and HD DVD players. I figured well this must exclude the PS3. But on it no where does it say it excludes the PS3. It does say it excludes the HD DVD add on for the 360 but no mention of the PS3 here is the scan of it. See Below to see the full version and tell me if i am wrong.

  10. Staples in Chester, NJ was great. We got everything that we wanted except for the laptop, but it was well worth the trip. I think we ended up buying 5 tomtoms because everyone wanted a GPS for Christmas this year, and you couldn't beat the price. Staples has trumped Best Buy for me because I can show up at 6 and be 15th in line, not 1500th in line like Best Buy. Two thumbs up!

lol but with everyone liking staples so much next year it may not be as easy lol

  11. I think we should all write letters of complaint to Staples. I also would have picked up lots of other stuff along w/ my laptop such as a cordless mouse, blank DVDs, and probably a laptop bag. They need to realize how much they are losing.

FYI, I called my local Staples and complained as well. Not that they are part of the process but hopefully it will be relayed above.

I am telling you the stores arent to happy either about this. I work at one of the lucky stores that do have them, but have talked to several stores about it and they arent happy. There are two different ads depending on zip code. I would recommend that everyone call staples coporate or send in a complaint through the website. because there are many stores that have 30 or more. If they would have just spread it out to even 10-15 a store or so.

  12. I wonder how many they will have at each store ? i tryed to call the local store to see how many i just got the run around p.s is'nt ilegal not to have them when they open up and you are one of the first in line ?:mad::mad::confused::confused:

Let me know which store you plan to go to and I will find out for you later today

  13. Based on that way of thinking, then why would they even have a price protection policy?

Well would you rather them get rid of it all together or block 1 day a year when they have really good discounts. If retailers did this for everyone then all of the product would be purchased before hand and none left for the morning of black friday. The point of it is to get people in the store that morning. Like I said if they say they will do it fine. But no one should expect it from any retailer.

  14. I already bought the Sony Tv 40' and have been totally promised they will price adjust it as long as I go in before the sale end at noon. There will be one VERY UNHAPPY customer if they don't. I will return everything since I did not pick it up yet anyway and NEVER shop there again. I would suggest you go to the store and get names and numbers.

Its absurd that you even expect them to do that. How about you wait in line like everyone else does. Its a sale because its on sale during that time alotted not 1 month before 2 weeks before or a month after. Thats why ads have dates and times. If they do it for you fine but you shouldnt expect it.

  15. To get a good deal on a laptop, they need to be sold below cost (including rebates, if any). The markup on laptops is very small so these prices will not be anything to get excited about unless they include a rebate on top of that.

100% exact. I know at Staples most the reg prices might be at the most 50-100 dollars over cost. This really isnt much of a sell. You should be able to find one right now at Staples on sale that is below cost.
