  1. My son is 13. We discovered Loot Crate. (Monthly package delivery of theme related items). Price isn't too bad. He loves it. Make sure you research it first and see if it is something worth your money though........

  2. I think we all get to that point sometimes.i notice my funk gets worse eevry year.My kids are 14 & 17 now and they dont believe anymore. That was the hardest part for me.I know Christmas isnt about the presents but to  see the looks on their faces Chrsitmas morning was enough to cure any blues i had.Yes i do the decorating myself mostly cause DS is to old to wanna help, DD does it all wrg DH is just lazy.I never buy myself anything so my family can have it all.I feel very under appreciated.Ive tried the "not doing it anymore" approach and that made me feel worse.Ive been crying at the drop of a hat this week.lol and have no clue.We too have money issues and i always stress how im goin to make it happen but somehow i do.Guess i should just be thankful i have a warm home food to eat and presents under the tree , as i know alot that dont.Great now im crying again.lol.I just guess Christmas is such a sentimental holiday.

I could have written this!!!!!!!!!!  Crying all week.  I really miss my kids being little...

My husband and I have decided to get an Elf on the Shelf and start a new tradition.  But we are going to do it "our style".  More in the thoughts that would be for teens....and if they don't like it, WE will have fun!

  3. I ended up getting him The Elephant Whisperer book (looks interesting!), a bath pouf from Pier 1 Imports (kinda cheesy for an 18 y.o. boy but it was really cute),and a snowglobe with an elephant inside (trunk up for good luck Midwest Mama!) and a Wildlife calendar (an elephant was for the month of March) from the Dollar Tree.

If I'd have had more time,I might have ordered something online but was afraid it wouldn't get here in time.

    Thanks for everyone's suggestions!

I am sure he will love it all!

  4. I actually liked the late night. Didn't think I would. There were teens but they were fine. Just sitting and watching. I won 2 $100 NY and Co. gift certificates as our mall doorbuster! Didn't buy a lot but I go just for the experience.

Worst line and crowd was our Victoria Secret store....rude and impatient. Thank god I have boys and I can't ever imagine being able to fit in anything from that store!

  5. So, last year I posted how my kids were older, traditions changing, schedules are busy......here is my new tradition! My sons are 15 and 11....bought an Elf on the Shelf. Instead of the normal Elf activity, our Elf will hold "presents" each morning. Some with names on them some with both names...simple things like......gum, ice cream, cool pencils for school, pizza night that is unexpected, things that older kids like but not that cost a lot of money.....

The Great Pumpkin came at Halloween with ITunes instead of candy and they LOVED it......gotta change with the times!!!!!

  6. What about a T-Day breakfast? Just you and your Mom......And you can go offline on Facebook....look at the bottom right corner of the screen.......click on the "gear"...turns off Chat....MAGIC!!!!
  7. I am seriously thinking of doing The Elf On The Shelf with my older kids. (I hope you can figure out what the elf would do at our house!)..I have teens. That Elf would be into everything!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I have a student who is an orphan and is living with an aunt. HORRIBLE situation for her. Today, she randomly comes up and asks if I am familiar with Black Friday. We begin to talk and I mention this website. She becomes so excited...we talk and talk. Then she tells me that she has earned $200.00 and is waiting for Black Friday so she can give her sister the best Christmas EVER. UGH! I had to fight back the tears. WOW......just WOW.
